My youngest son has been working hard on selling some of his old sets and helping ole' Dad to earn extra money for the last few months. His ultimate goal was to save enough to buy the UCS Falcon. Well....thanks to good ole' Dad and Offer Up today, we scored him a BNIB UCS Falcon with the handle and wheels on the box in perfect condition for $600! An awesome score and an ecstatic kid!! I'm proud of his stick-to-it-iveness. I wish I had that kind of fiscal responsibility!! Awesome lesson learned!!19 points

Hey guys, I've only joined recently, but have been selling for awhile. Here's my contribution to this group. This is a general model, which I adjust depending on the set. In short, it helps me predict if a set takes forever to reach maximum profitability (top right), and if so, then the "optimal" time to sell is somewhere nearer to the center. Granted, the data points are all based on observed trends, promos, and overall "feeling", but it at least helps organize the prediction into a visual model. FYI: -The "cost" line is simply 20% below the price line - "Affordability" limits market availability to buy at current price, incurring longer wait times to sell Generally, it's simply a "quick cash / low sell time" vs. "high profit / high sell time"...depends on set of course. But you all knew this... Cheers!2 points

It's also important to recognize that both PS and PC were at their prime while the interest in Lego investing was pretty high. At the time, the most comparable sets for post-EOL price comparisons were FB and GE, both of which did well enough in the after-life to justify rolling the dice on PS and PC. That fact led to an oversupply on the secondary market, which has kept prices down. Unless you think that people out there are buying as many BBs & DOs as they did PSs and PCs, they are not apt comparisons. I dumped all of my PSs and PCs when it became clear that they weren't going to follow the same trajectory as FB or GE and I haven't reinvested that money in any of the exclusives that are on the chopping block this year.2 points

@ClintonjosephCurious to see how your first black friday went. Here is a photo of my pop up shop hosted by Green Road Pottery in Stoughton, WI. Retail prices on everything. There are some good deals in there. Come and visit and mention your a Brickplicker for 5.25% off (to make the price esentially tax free). Or just come in and say hi.2 points

On a positive note, less room for sets to bang around and get damaged. Too much extra space = damage.1 point

I think we’ll see a Target promo and an Amazon promo. Or maybe just LEGO store promos. Pure speculation.1 point

You should receive refunds on both should the items not fund themselves back to amazon. For INR and general adjustment I’ve found that in most cases that items are not returned and you will be reimbursed within 45 Days. you can track return for the fba return tab and it sometimes gives more detailed infinity and customer comments. i use an excel sheet to track all returns1 point

Alright, I spent quite sometime musing over 75172 (Non UCS Version). Below is the row out of my spreadsheet with 1163 being the sales rank. 75172-1 Y-Wing Starfighter 2017 Star Wars Rogue One 1163 41.99 I loaded up my cart all gleeful, then stopped and thought about A Wing vs Tie, Kylo Ren Shuttle, FOT, etc. Began researching most of the current year star craft sets and there sales ranks which were really impressive. Star wars is still popular. Then I start going through last years retired sets sales ranks and they were just okay 50k-100k... I looked at the previous version 9495. 5 years retired and on FBA for 120$. My conclusion: Star wars sets are great gifts, they are produced in extraordinary amounts, there are WAY TOO MANY sets and thus nearly impossible to "collect them all".1 point

Yeah if you bought the B wing at MSRP you totally must be choking. But if you were like the rest of us and bought them at what was the last decent black friday sale for 50% off in the USA ... Then, like me, made a ton more money on B wings than TH. I was doubling my money (even after fees and shipping) on B wings less than two years after EOL. Ebay right now TH is trending at $470 with free shipping. Not even close to doubling your money with fees and shipping costs.1 point

Then Modulars will always have fans and collectors that will want every one to complete their collection or display. The Haunted House was not really a Modular IMO and many anal LEGO collectors would never include one in their "town." Modulars will have their ups and downs, but my money is on more ups than downs.1 point
-
What's funny is that hoarding Modulars has become taboo. But the worm will turn. It will become very profitable once again. LEGO will not remake all of these sets and many will not be stashed in Little Timmy's closet in mass amounts.1 point

It's GO time at Kroger. Newt's Suitcase was an unmarked 20% off at my store. Picked up all the Stephanie's(?) Bedrooms at $7.99 - 20% off (60% off after holiday coupon), all the MF MF's at $7.99 (20% off), farm cottage suitcases at Closeout $15.99 (20% off), already retired Snowwhite cottages at RRP, and threw in the entire HP section. Total came in at $300.27 (there was a $300 in savings limit).1 point

Thought I would give some info on some trends i’ve been seeing in the store this past week, maybe help decide what sets to invest in: Lots of kids want dino sets. Almost every Dad that comes in makes a comment about wanting the Saturn V rocket. I have a used one on display and most people are amazed at the size of it. Wish I had kept more Wall-E. Only had 2 and they went quickly at $145 each. Really all of the ideas sets get positive comments from parents. Elves more popular than Friends. People have asked about Minecraft, a theme I only have very few sets of, I guess i’ll have to get more. Not much interest in Brickheadz. More interest in mixels than them. Most popular CMF is babysitter and banana guy. Also the skeleton trick-or-treater from monster series, but i’m sure that’s just seasonal. Other figs most popular are any random storm/clone trooper. As for used sets, many like the Indiana Jones sets, and mention they didn’t realize there were ever indy lego sets. I also had about 5 power miner sets that all sold really quickly on the first day. Once again, thanks for all the positive comments here!1 point

Sold x2 Minecraft 21133 The Witch Hut for $94 each. I have no idea why people buy Minecraft, or why we really don't talk about it, but in terms of buy in to selling price point, I'm hard pressed to find a better preforming theme for me. There are duds within the theme for sure, but my buy in for each set was $13.1 point

Used CRAZYXLP's post from earlier and cross-linked it to some new data I found on B-Seek searching Wal-Mart inventory. Added SKU and UPC. Of particular note is what looks like the two 20th Anniversary sets identified (75258 & 25259). Also, some clues on the title of set 75236 ("R vs K" i.e. Rey vs. Kylo). Not sure if this is about Episode VIII or a clue about Episode IX. A few others in there, too. Well, the fans pissed by Last jedi are not butthurted, because there were unexpected changes. They are pissed because, the plot o the movie is **** and the everything happening on screen does nto make sense: 1) Rey as a character is a wonder kid. She defeats Kylo, she defeats Pretorian guard, she even beats Luke! With zero training. She can use the force and do everything right without any effort. When there is no risk and no cost in doing it, it is boring. 2) The whole plot with chasing rebel fleet is bullshit. They could jump out of hyperspace from another side, so they could screw the fleet between two destroyers. Or they could deploy TIE squadron to shoot them down. 3) First Order is weak. They are just a bunch of idiots unable to use the power properly. Where are unbeatable characters like Vader, Thrawn, Tarkin etc. 4) Snoke / Kylo story is too weak. The whole killing point is too vague and too fragile to be successful, or Snoke is far weaker than Emperor and vader was. 5) If Poe was told about the escape plan (why he was not, I do not understand), than he would not plan to send finn and rose to that casino planet and that would not result than into pointless killing of escape pods. 6) Battle on Crait is again military ****. Why the **** those AT-MT gorillas did not shoot down Finns speeder? How Rose managed to get back in time to save Finn, why she was trying to save him in the first place when this would kill even more people and finally, why the were not shoot donw by troops/tanks when they crashed down? 7) What is the opening point for eiposode IX? The movie felt like final episode, not the middle one, there is no open plot. And finally, the issue I personally have with the movie: The disgrace they made to Luke Skywalker and mainly to Mark Hamill himslef.Everyone knows, that Carrie was using drugs and being little bit crazy and that Harrison did not like star wars fans at all. But Mark Hamill was always the one visiting cons, speaking to fans, loving the universe they created 40 years ago. Then he was lured into this bullshit movie, he naturally could not say no to playing in it (because whole world would hate him) and then he was forced to play his life-defining character in a way, which he was not comfortable with, he did not like and he did not approve and understand. And he even did not receive any dignity in death on screen. He jsut passed away like some tired old hermit. That was ******* worst thing I ever seen on screen, noone deserves this. He warned us several times, that this movie is **** even he does not like, we should listen and never watch.1 point
