  3. Went to the LEGO store this morning to get a bunch of stuff. When my wife saw all the bags sitting on the table, she asked if I had bought the entire store. My reply was that I actually bought two of them. She was not amused...

  7. Theisens.com (Midwest Farm & Equipment Store) has 41318 Friends Heartlake Hospital for $65.00. If you sign up via e-mail you get 10% off your first order. Shipping for me was $4.99 and then there's tax so it would end up being $65.00 - 10% sign-up discount = $58.50 + 7% tax ($4.09) = $62.59 + $4.99 shipping = $67.58 shipped. https://www.theisens.com/ https://www.theisens.com/products/friends-hearlake-hospital/90524279/

  9. If it's in stock should add. Says it's thru the 21st or until supplies last. Problem I'm having is so much stuff has been for sale elsewhere it's hard to buy at rrp for lego even with the promos. I guess I could use a few more xmas trains...

  10. Man, reading your posts makes me wonder. I should do the opposite of what you do. How is the Porsche massively discounted and widely hoarded? Maybe in your part of the world, definitely not in north america. And then you give a pass to Women of Nasa......

  14. haha....nothing against you. It's understandable that the US market is much different than the UK market. I would think the demand for the Porsche and Chiron is much higher over there. The Europeans are into cars much more than Americans. Particularly those F1 sets. The Petronas team would be super popular in Germany. I can't imagine Europeans going head over heel on WoN. People should be careful with that WoN, might end up being a dud like that Exo suit. I still have 6 more of that collecting dust.

  18. Brought a few more bits this week to add to the stock and flip in the run up to Christmas, to fund the medium term keeps. Most of this will be local sales and seems to be the strategy that works best for me. All at 50% or less buy in, the pirate coasters are much bigger than I thought.

  21. LEGO Shop at Home and local stores are two different sections. It makes sense that they would pull the sets to ensure that they have stock for the sale. These are all sets in which they have probably not received stock updates for weeks or even months. LEGO Shop at Home's stock and store stock are two different matters. Often store stock is gone before LEGO Shop at Home's. The Chess set has been on sale for months in stores but higher price at LEGO Shop at Home. And was it 2016 or 2015 that the stores had Black Friday deals that were not available on LEGO Shop at Home?
    1 point
  22. Yes it is true. 5 set were pulled a few weeks ago as stock is low in stores and some throughout the company. Fishing store, ferris wheel, detectives, friends hospital and and Ghostbusters hq were the sets. They will be used for the daily specials this year. Bad news is they are only 20-30 off. Chess set was added late as well but it's been on sale so much not really anything extra.

  29. Hmmm, I wonder what the chances of this set being added to cart tomorrow with the Gift Box promo and Double VIP? Personally, I've acquired two of these sets but would add some more if able to "double dip" on the free promos and points...

  31. Books A Million are running a 20% off site/storewide this weekend for members. I took a quick peek and found a few notables that were already marked 50% off and you get 20% off additional. Sorry, the Boost and Batcave are sold out, but it might be worth checking your stores. https://www.booksamillion.com/p/LEGO-BOOST-Creative-Toolbox/LEGO/F673419272292?id=7423831060055 https://www.booksamillion.com/p/LEGO-Batman-Movie-Batcave-Break/LEGO/F673419266239?id=7423831060055 https://www.booksamillion.com/p/LEGO-DC-Comics-Justice-League/LEGO/F673419267052?id=7423831060055

  34. Yesterday I emailed Lego and told them i purchased Hogwarts back in October. Within the same day I got a reply indicating that they would ship me the Diagon promo...and minutes later I got the shipped notification. SO I got the double VIP pts and Diagon Alley promo. Lego gets a huge thumbs up for saving me the trouble of returning it and buying again (which I probably would not have done due to being a lazy azz) [Hello everyone this is like my 1st or 2nd post ever here...I just recently (last 3 months) got re-aquainted w/ my childhood toy...for the sake of my 7 year-old]

  35. Hi, Long time listener first time caller as they say ? My general rule of thumb is sell for 50% more than I bought....this then gives me a healthy profit after all costs and taxes. My aim was always to just get a better return then interest rates, ISA's etc. Generally this means selling after retirement having bought for at least 33% off RRP in the first place and then wait for price to reach the point I need... when I started this my crystal ball was saying (naively) Star Wars, dc, marvel and those larger modular sets...that was 2-3 years ago... Having a son who got me into lego meant I focussed in this area but it is not the case as far as winners... I am sure you all have your stories of surprising sales when it comes to themes...but for me its Friends, Elves (with dragons), medium creator sets, some Technic, and Speed Champions (people love those cars!). Some other obvious (with hindsight!) winners for me were Jurassic World/Park, Wall-e, Scooby Doo... You could of bought the larger JP sets at RRP and still made good money I feel. As for a turkey at 50% is still a turkey...I tend to agree but with some hesitation. Angry Birds at 50% off looked like a dead duck, but I am now seeing some healthy returns on the Castle and Ship, so that was a surprise. I guess kids still watch and play them so you still have new audiences to attract. Anyway, a few thoughts from someone who still feels very much a newbie at this though with a few learnings along the way! ?

  40. Picked up a large lot on Craigslist for $150. Unfortunately, no instructions. Sets were put together still for the most part. I've been able to identify the following sets. No idea if they are complete yet, but I was able to go through the large bucket of figures and find that at least they are all included for each set that I've identified thus far. Here's what we've located to this point: 3181-1 Passenger Plane 4202-1 Mining Truck 4203-1 Excavator Transporter 4209-1 Fire Plane 4432-1 Garbage Truck 4439-1 Heavy-Lift Helicopter 4738-1 Hagrid's Hut 4842-1 Hogwarts Castle 5868-1 Ferocious Creatures 7037-1 Tower Raid 7048-1 Troll Warship 7094-1 King's Castle Siege 7097-1 Trolls' Mountain Fortress 7498-1 Police Station 7947-1 Prison Tower Rescue 9465-1 The Zombies 9469-1 Gandalf Arrives 9474-1 The Battle of Helm's Deep 9476-1 The Orc Forge 10188-1 Death Star (Boxes 2, 3, and 4 are all still sealed) 10193-1 Medieval Market Village 21105-1 The Village 21106-1 The Nether 31005-1 Construction Hauler 60001-1 Fire Chief Car 79000-1 Riddles for the Ring 79001-1 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders 79002-1 Attack of the Wargs 79003-1 An Unexpected Gathering 79010-1 The Goblin King Battle Not a bad haul for $150

  42. Hi folks! I've been in a Lego brand store in Austria and they have following sets marked with a Tag as "retired soon" (Auslaufmodell 2018). The shop assistant told me that this should be mostly the final decision otherwise it will lure the customers with false information to buy the sets and that is forbidden. However, I took photos but I'm sure that I haven't got all of them photographed. Sorry for the bad pic quality but I was in a hurry. Here is the list: 10243 - Parisian Restaurant 10246 - Detective's Office 10247 - Ferris Wheel 21310 - Old Fishing Store 21312 - Women of NASA 71042 - Silent Mary 75060 - Slave I 75144 - Snowspeeder 75827 - Ghostbusters HQ Hope this helps a little bit?!
