  2. Just a friendly reminder to everyone to add limits to your sets that you have a decent quantity of. This prevents people buying out all your stock then returning it or people undercutting you aggressively because they don't want to wait for your stock to sell. Edit Listing > Max Quantity

  3. Hi, Long time listener first time caller as they say ? My general rule of thumb is sell for 50% more than I bought....this then gives me a healthy profit after all costs and taxes. My aim was always to just get a better return then interest rates, ISA's etc. Generally this means selling after retirement having bought for at least 33% off RRP in the first place and then wait for price to reach the point I need... when I started this my crystal ball was saying (naively) Star Wars, dc, marvel and those larger modular sets...that was 2-3 years ago... Having a son who got me into lego meant I focussed in this area but it is not the case as far as winners... I am sure you all have your stories of surprising sales when it comes to themes...but for me its Friends, Elves (with dragons), medium creator sets, some Technic, and Speed Champions (people love those cars!). Some other obvious (with hindsight!) winners for me were Jurassic World/Park, Wall-e, Scooby Doo... You could of bought the larger JP sets at RRP and still made good money I feel. As for a turkey at 50% is still a turkey...I tend to agree but with some hesitation. Angry Birds at 50% off looked like a dead duck, but I am now seeing some healthy returns on the Castle and Ship, so that was a surprise. I guess kids still watch and play them so you still have new audiences to attract. Anyway, a few thoughts from someone who still feels very much a newbie at this though with a few learnings along the way! ?

  5. For me, them losing $5,000 worth of inventory It actually didn't end up being too bad. I opened a case with Amazon and they reimbursed me for all of the lost inventory after I submitted receipts to document that I had actually purchased the inventory.

  7. My 7 year old wants Nexo-Knights. He loves that theme with the fortresses and even plays the online portion of the game from time to time. I had him go through the most recent Lego catalog and write down all the set numbers he likes. He filled a whole page that ranges from pretty much every theme except the Friends/Elves stuff. Anything Large usually does the trick though (over 1,000 pieces) EDIT: Also have a 4 yr girl whom wants the Frozen Castles or other Disney castles. Both love Star Wars too (Episode 4/5/6 sets more than the recent stuff) but we already have most of them in the house because of me. I have a Lego Problem. Sorry though, I'll let $20 Joe take it from here, it is his thread.

  8. Nope, they shut all of us free-loaders off about 3-4 months ago. Regular folks still get coupons in store. Only coupons that still work for me are the $10 off $50 from texting "online" to KMART, and the weekly FC as part of the Sweeps Weekly email ($10 the last 2 weeks).

  13. Stars Wars by a large margin...kinda got into both at the same time...two of my best Dad things to do with him is to watch the movies together and do a family build (wife, and 77 yr old grandpa...3 generations built the Saturn V...literally...figuratively...and probably also literally for teh real thing). most of my purchases were approx 700-1000 piece counts (original retails of $80-130 ish)...but the boy loves everything...he can typically do a microbuild himself and needs help on anything larger.

  14. I have been absolutely floored by what Lego has become... my mind was blown when I saw the inner working of the Porches G3...I have a Suby (same brotherhood of boxer engines) and it's just nuts that the gearing and drivetrain actually works like the real thing ...the working paddle shifters...Man I can't even work the ones on my car.

  17. Mine came crushed, ordered with the castle and the double vip, should have known better. But a call to LEGO and they are sending me another one and said to keep the crushed one. I’ll also give them a thumbs up for great customer service.

  18. Yesterday I emailed Lego and told them i purchased Hogwarts back in October. Within the same day I got a reply indicating that they would ship me the Diagon promo...and minutes later I got the shipped notification. SO I got the double VIP pts and Diagon Alley promo. Lego gets a huge thumbs up for saving me the trouble of returning it and buying again (which I probably would not have done due to being a lazy azz) [Hello everyone this is like my 1st or 2nd post ever here...I just recently (last 3 months) got re-aquainted w/ my childhood toy...for the sake of my 7 year-old]

  20. amazon price matches target or walmart so many times my first tipoff that an item is on a better sale is seeing it on max profit list which is the first thing i look at every morning. didn't see anyone other than max profit posting that minecraft farm cottage was on sale for 40% off yesterday. i see now its crept back up.

  21. That would probably work. My usual means of business is to use my phone, and I'll look at the newest posts. It seems like 9/10, Max Profit is the latest poster in DD, so I won't look. I actually get excited when I see a real person posted. I know this doesn't belong in this thread and also realize this isn't my website or business. I just wonder if they are actually losing out on affiliate clicks because of this. I rarely ever use Max Profit links, because it's not stuff I want. (Plus I don't look at it). But I would have clicked the Ferris Wheel link 4-5 times, had I seen it.

  22. See if your email can be configured to group by sender and subject. My Yahoo mail groups all the daily deals emails together and it's pretty easy to scroll through whatever came since the last time I read (and deleted).

  23. I have sold quite a few sets in the 150 to 350 range in the last month to 0 feedback or few feedback buyers. Many people just don't use Ebay often. So long as address is PayPal confirmed you should be good to go. You can always extend your handling time when listing these high priced sets as I have had requests to cancel after buyer purchases within a day, due to payment not authorized and such. I once had a set buyer claimed was not received. PayPal took care of me so long as the address was confirmed.

  26. Yea, in Canada retail for Encounter on Jakku is $75... I picked up at $15... Sold them for $40. Couldn't get more then that which is just over 50% off after taxes. Vader's TIE Advanced vs A-Wing retailed for $120, my buy in was about $75... wound up letting them go for $75... I was more than happy just to get my money back! lol

  28. As the Sith Infiltrators, Resistance Troop Transporters, Encounter on Jakku, and Vader's TIE Advanced vs A-Wing in my inventory are all proving... Especially Resistance Troop Transporter, retired nearly 2 years ago, still isn't selling, even at the same 50% off I got it for.

  32. Hi folks! I've been in a Lego brand store in Austria and they have following sets marked with a Tag as "retired soon" (Auslaufmodell 2018). The shop assistant told me that this should be mostly the final decision otherwise it will lure the customers with false information to buy the sets and that is forbidden. However, I took photos but I'm sure that I haven't got all of them photographed. Sorry for the bad pic quality but I was in a hurry. Here is the list: 10243 - Parisian Restaurant 10246 - Detective's Office 10247 - Ferris Wheel 21310 - Old Fishing Store 21312 - Women of NASA 71042 - Silent Mary 75060 - Slave I 75144 - Snowspeeder 75827 - Ghostbusters HQ Hope this helps a little bit?! Greetings, Infi

  35. Did anyone else notice the "MANY RETIRING SOON" wording on pg. 39 of the US 2018 Holiday catalog? What does everyone think it means? The sets listed on pages 38 & 39 are below: 41152 Sleeping Beauty Castle - relatively new but there is another Disney castle play set 10247 Ferris Wheel - already confirmed to be retiring soon? 10246 Detectives Office - already confirmed to be retiring soon? 75060 Slave I - not retiring? 75205 Mos Eisley Cantina - very new 31080 Modular Winter Vacation - pretty new 42056 Porsche - already confirmed to be retiring soon? 21312 - Women of Nasa - ???? 60110 Fire Station - probably retiring soon? 10405 Mission to Mars - pretty new 41324 Snow Resort Ski Lift - probably retiring soon? 21144 The Farm Cottage - probably retiring soon?

  40. While I've had several frustrations with them over the years, but here's the latest tale of woe that's causing me to consider a complete changeover: I scheduled a UPS pickup for between 6pm and 7pm Monday night via the website. I was actually there around 5:15. I moved my outgoing packages to a convenient location (30 or so). No one showed by 7:15 - So I check the website history for my request, it says they attempted the pickup but was unsuccessful. I call the 1-800 UPS customer service line (as there's no way to talk to the local center), and after speaking to customer service and a generic supervisor, they said the driver marked down the business closed early. I ask them what time the driver made those notes. They say 5:30. I said, my pickup was scheduled for between 6 and 7pm, and for the record, I was also here at 5:15pm, so the driver lied. They again put me on hold for 20 minutes while they talk to the local facility, and tell me they will do the pickup for the next night between the same hours as there are no drivers avail at this point. While I was upset that the driver lied, and no one attempted to even call me (even if they DID show up and no one was there, what if I was in the bathroom?), I say OK because there's not really anything I can do. So, Tuesday night rolls around, I am again there at 5:15. I call UPS right away, to make sure everything is on track. They say yes. (20 minutes later). At 6:45, still no one has shown up. So I again call, and get the exact same story from Monday night - No drivers are available and no one can pick up. They don't even give me a reason why no one showed up. Another 20 minutes of hold later, they say someone from the local facility will call me within 30 minutes. No one calls. So, here we are on Wednesday. Another 40 minutes on hold with UPS and Supervisor, and waiting a call back for the 4th time from the local facility. They tell me the real reason the pickup didn't happen on Monday was because they had an incorrect address. But again, no one called, and I verified the address was correct on my submission form. I am actually just going to head down there on my lunch break to speak to someone and get this squared away. But at this point, I want to look at another option. The lack of communication, the inability to speak to someone at the local facility, and everything else, has just pushed me past my patience limit. Obviously this time of year is critical, and with my other obligations, I don't have time to play these games. I need to schedule pickups and have stuff picked up.
