I just picked up 10 Harry Potter Bricktober sets from my Barnes & Noble. $6.75 each after tax and member discount. I had them manually order these for me last week and they arrived today. Upon picking them up I asked if I could order a few more. The clerk tried to place another order but the set was now flagged as unorderable in their system. Have others experienced this as well? I might have lucked out with the timing on my order.2 points

My feelings are similar. I dipped my toe in with 4 at first. I'm now up to $115 profit with 6 sold. I do not understand it, but I'll take it.1 point

I’ll trade you for some cash...lol. I have listed three on eBay already and they’ve sold easily at $48 with free shipping. Thinking of raising the price a little bit to see what happens. They sell within an hour of me listing them every time.1 point

for your sets, if they are brand new, go to /Brickfolio for an estimation for your figs, go to BL for the price. it's not hard to figure out a number yourself1 point

But I'd be more then happy to take a billion dollars for it all.1 point

I'd say you could get a billion dollars. Or maybe 5 dollars. Without any details it's very hard to say my friend!1 point

I think this is a great concept. I saw this article when I googled your store. I hope you don't mind me sharing with the group: http://www.valleybreeze.com/2018-08-29/observer-smithfield-west/father-four-opening-local-lego-store#.W8i3LWhKg2w I am only an hour away and look forward to stopping by. I see your grand opening is on for this Saturday, October 20! Congratulations on making it to the start line on time and best of luck!1 point

I agree. I would even look for a 30%-40% discount to make it even better. After all, the better the discount, the more likely the investment will work out. In my perspective.1 point

Yep, my 3yo daughters favorite set right now is the Fantastic Beasts Suitcase, this will be another perfect build for her to play with. This is one of the best Ideas sets in a while.1 point

Price is a little better than expected too at $69.99. Not a full priced purchase for me, but first 15-20% discount and I'm in.1 point

Ah, the old Dewback vs. escape pod battle, my favorite scene from the OT. What seems odd to me is Lego seemingly eliminated some incentive to buy certain sets, ie the Praetorian Guard battle pack and Snoke's Throne Room. Smaller Slave 1 and Cloud City, although that may be more of an effort to quell the resellers of the UCS version.1 point

The minifig head is definitely restricted copyright. TLG forced all of the LUGs that had minifig logos to change them, which caused a bit of an uproar in the AFOL community. You should do some further research before you spend too much on signage and branding. Good luck!1 point

the seasonals were always extended line stuff and not considered actual sets with start and end dates. Don't really care on those and just see it as an opportunity to get them again if you want more. They did it with other stuff before the seasonals like the baubles, rose and other extended lines stuff. Some baubles are on year 6 or 7. bringing back remakes under new set numbers is something totally different and technically not resurrecting, happens in other toy lines as well. Least you get a few years to move them.1 point

It would be wise for LEGO to embrace these types of stores. With profits decreasing and TRUs gone, they need more help promoting their products. Good luck with the store. Jeff and I always wanted to do something like this, but a job like this needs "all" of your time to start if you want it to work and even then there is no guarantee. But it is a great job anyway you look at it. It would be fun coming to work!1 point

Whether or not this set succeeds or flops as an investment, one thing for absolute certainty is that this set is made of pure creative win and is stunning. This set is the epitome of what I believe the reason Lego Ideas was created for in the first place. But yeah if that thing is a sticker then I'll be like "dang, oh well".1 point

I bought a fair amount of individual sets from B&N during the sale. Either B&N, or UPS, or both must have employees who also are World Cup players as best as I can tell. Some sets will also be going back because the in-transit holes and openings allowed rain to pool in the box with the lousy job placing them in the plastic bags. But this box was my favorite: Hmm, haven't seen this label before. Probably not a good sign. Ah, yes. Now the label makes sense. The wall of packing tape on the side about matches the side itself. And the obvious results. The foreground corner is heavily reinforced with packing tape. Both original seals and mid section have been popped. I'm guessing that's how "SMD" was able to ascertain that "no visible damage was found" and "the contents have been repackaged"? That's what really grinds my gears. I have to imagine "SMD" checked out the Sealed Bags thread to make sure everything was in there? No f-ing way man. This will be going back along with its water damaged brethren. First world problems, just annoying with the lack of care.0 points
