It would be wise for LEGO to embrace these types of stores. With profits decreasing and TRUs gone, they need more help promoting their products. Good luck with the store. Jeff and I always wanted to do something like this, but a job like this needs "all" of your time to start if you want it to work and even then there is no guarantee. But it is a great job anyway you look at it. It would be fun coming to work!5 points

Hi everyone. Well, after thinking about it for the last couple years, I decided to start up a real life physical retail store selling lego. I’ve been working on getting the space ready for the last couple months, and will open the doors this saturday, October 20th. Starting out, I will be the only employee, but I’m sure that will change very soon. I’ll at least have to hire someone to host the birthday parties we will offer. Since i’m doing this independently, instead of joining a franchise like bricks and minifigs, i don’t exactly know what all to expect, but i’m sure it will be fun. If anyone here is in the rhode island area, come check out the store and say hi.4 points

I wish they would just do the same thing for every state and call it a day .4 points

I just picked up 10 Harry Potter Bricktober sets from my Barnes & Noble. $6.75 each after tax and member discount. I had them manually order these for me last week and they arrived today. Upon picking them up I asked if I could order a few more. The clerk tried to place another order but the set was now flagged as unorderable in their system. Have others experienced this as well? I might have lucked out with the timing on my order.3 points

Maybe it's a regional thing? When I worked retail in the Rocky Mtns, the manager called it shrinkage. Or maybe generational? I worked retail pre-Seinfeld.2 points

MSRP is 330$. I just edited my post to note it might be cheaper with the upcoming 20% off.1 point

The minifig head is definitely restricted copyright. TLG forced all of the LUGs that had minifig logos to change them, which caused a bit of an uproar in the AFOL community. You should do some further research before you spend too much on signage and branding. Good luck!1 point

Amazon automatically collects taxes for WA, PA, UT and i believe one more state. Those cant be disabled.1 point

I would suggest doing it. Besides what @Bold-Arrow and @exciter mentioned, I am fairly confident that Amazon begins to give you more opportunities as a seller once you switch to a professional seller plan. I started getting a lot more leniency selling a variety of products once i switched.1 point

It definitely saves if you do some volume and sell more than 40 items a month, since it saves you the $0.99 listing fee per item that you are charged with a non-Professional Account. There are some seller interface advantages and dashboards that can come in handy. I don't think it took much time at all to sign-up and be approved. It's easy to revert back by clicking on a button in your account settings and answering a couple questions.1 point

The "fulfillment by Amazon required" message is related to the Holiday toy selling restrictions. If you didn't sell 25 merchant fulfilled orders during the qualifying period (it ended October 1) then you can only use FBA for toys for the rest of the year. The e-mails with ASINs listed asking for safety documents are different and have nothing to do with the holiday restrictions.1 point

I looked at the attachments I included in the email and they were not imported correctly (only the text from the case were in each one). I replied multiple times with the attachments again, since they can only receive 6 attachments per reply in Seller Central. Hopefully they look at the attachments this time. Go into Seller Central and view your attachments and verify they are correct.1 point

They must have flipped the switch of holiday MF toy gate a half day early. This is coming up on all toys for me, not just Lego. In the past, they haven't enforced this if your 25 orders were FBA and not all MF during the qualifying period.1 point

I am seeing this as well. I would guess it has to do with the holiday selling requirements, since I know I didn't reach the requirements for FBM. Sent from my SM-G950U using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

Not yet, but I also started converting my FBM to FBA recently. This could be a nice boost for FBA sellers. Nothing against FBM sellers, I still list that way, but if in fact Lego gets limited and that equals less sellers, amazon buyers at Christmas time are out of their mind sometimes which = [emoji383][emoji385].1 point

Yes. Yes I am. Is this the new not meeting the seller fulfilled quota thingy?1 point

Thanks for the support! To answer some of the questions: I’m still setting up, so I’ll post pics once I have it all ready. I’ll be selling new & used sets, minifigures, and pieces, as well as hosting birthday parties & events. Hoping to start an adult club that meets once a month too. No wholesale or anything directly from Lego. From what I’ve read online, you can’t have Lego as a majority of your business to buy from them. You can have a general toy store with a Lego section, but it can’t be the largest percentage of your shop. As for the logo, I needed something that would be obvious to people that I’m selling Lego products without using the word “Lego”. Hopefully I don’t get any letters from Lego lawyers about the big yellow happy face with a bump on his head.1 point

Sorry. I got carried away with being all analytical. Haha. The suggested age graphic is pretty big. I wonder if they might be stepping away from a dedicated Juniors theme while keeping the idea of it for sets like this released under the main line. Such could help with store shelf space as there would not need to be an area for Juniors sets stuck awkwardly somewhere when each of the individual builds could more easily fit in with their primary theme.1 point

It's 4+, which also implies Juniors. Who knows? It's LEGO. Nice box art, though!1 point

Undoubtedly Amazon will do anything they can to try to pressure other retailers. However, all things being equal in this case, I'm happy to support TRU as a Canadian company.1 point
