  2. Hi everyone. Well, after thinking about it for the last couple years, I decided to start up a real life physical retail store selling lego. I’ve been working on getting the space ready for the last couple months, and will open the doors this saturday, October 20th. Starting out, I will be the only employee, but I’m sure that will change very soon. I’ll at least have to hire someone to host the birthday parties we will offer. Since i’m doing this independently, instead of joining a franchise like bricks and minifigs, i don’t exactly know what all to expect, but i’m sure it will be fun. If anyone here is in the rhode island area, come check out the store and say hi.

  4. Bhz #1 (batman) is the most expensive out of the old ones. TRU exclusives (especially Phasma and Lloyd) were pretty good returns even at if bought at msrp. But I guess why do you ask yourself that question? Who here buys at msrp? Nobody.

  6. Whether or not this set succeeds or flops as an investment, one thing for absolute certainty is that this set is made of pure creative win and is stunning. This set is the epitome of what I believe the reason Lego Ideas was created for in the first place. But yeah if that thing is a sticker then I'll be like "dang, oh well".

  11. Sorry. I got carried away with being all analytical. Haha. The suggested age graphic is pretty big. I wonder if they might be stepping away from a dedicated Juniors theme while keeping the idea of it for sets like this released under the main line. Such could help with store shelf space as there would not need to be an area for Juniors sets stuck awkwardly somewhere when each of the individual builds could more easily fit in with their primary theme.

  12. I didn't buy a single BH over the past year. I'm just wondering if they give you good return if bought at MSRP.

  13. This is indeed the iconic set from the Classic Space theme. If you want to try and rebuild it or see if you have all of the parts, you can find a parts list here: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=497-1 . If you need building instructions, they can be found here: http://www.peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/scans/497-1/?ct=1 Complete versions sell for $175+, incomplete versions can go for 1/2 that depending on which pieces you have. If you sell it as bulk, you can probably get $10-15/lb or so. With a set like this, it may be worth the hour or two to dig through the pieces and see how complete it is. Depending on where you are located, I'm sure there are lots of folks here that would be willing to take it off your hands. :-)

  15. Like people have already stated, be careful and know what you’re getting into. 15 min a figure is a good time overall. If you do decide to purchase, make sure you pace yourself. Sit down for a few hours here and there. You could end up with a bunch of City figures that sell for a dollar a piece. If you really wanna make the most out of it, assemble all the high value theme ones and then part down the rest. Sell by torso assembly, head, legs assembly, hair/helmet. The most time effective way I’ve found is to sort the torso assemblys by color, and use goatleg to identify them. This is the opposite of the way I sort parts, but there can be so many details on a torso print. Once you have the torsos identified and catalogued, then you can work your way through legs assembly, and also heads.

  16. Promobricks say there will be more of them in 2019 (quoting lead designer Marcos Bessa´s Instgram). Considering the mess they made of predicting Saturn V´s retirement last year, it may be the absolute proof that the theme is done! In any case, stock levels and lives of these have varied wildly between continents - Finn was very hard to find in Europe, for instance.

  17. Seriously, you guys seriously thought Disney would let their ma$cot retire that early ???

  18. My guess is sales for the year are pacing below expectations and they want to start moving inventory a little more before holiday season kicks in. Could it be that not having TRU as an outlet is affecting overall sales?
