Be hard competing for sales with SAH and Amazon next year, though. I didn´t know @tabbyboy lived near you.4 points

For the new people, "Retiring Soon" is SAH's shorthand for "This isn't selling. Please buy me."2 points

Im down with a fire station...as lo,g as the winter sets dont become a City-lite theme, im cool with that. We dont need a Winter Hospital... Sent from my VS995 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

That's the first confirmation I've seen of the Fire Station. This could really come out well if done right, and a nice opportunity for a vintage fire truck.1 point

I just noticed I had just three coupons available when there are usually dozens for products at Kmart and stuff. I stopped getting any offers for purchases a while ago. I can't get any coupons to apply to my Sears cart at all, even publicly advertised ones like appliance10. Real weird.1 point

A larger toy selection at WM means larger clearance hauls after the season is over, and WM actually marks their stuff down unlike TRU. I like it.1 point

Jumping onto this thread late, but nobody pointed out the skimping out on the minifigures? One Ugnaught is a joke, no Ice Cream Man, no whatever droids they put in that C3PO disassembly room? Although all the individual scenes are very nice to look at and the Slave I is decent, I'll give them that.1 point

Not necessarily. If you are a rational person that realizes it's crazy town to pay some of the prices these go for you don't sweat it. Sent from my PH-1 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

Me and my gf love them. And when discounted great little builds some of them for only a fiver or so. Cheaper to collect than modular and stuff ?1 point

For whats it worth, over on Brickmerge.de (German Lego Price site) plenty sets got the "Auslaufartikel" tag, which just means "Retiring soon". I don't know where they got that info and I also don't know if this means something or if it's complete nonsense. Anyway here is the Link to the site: https://www.brickmerge.de/?find=Auslaufartikel A few of the bigger ones are: Snowspeeder, Ferris Wheel, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Tower Bridge, Old Fishing Store, NASA Apollo Saturn V, Parisian Restaurant, Detectives Office, Bucket Wheel Excavator, Technic Extreme Adventure....1 point

I thought it's individually based on each user's viewing history? Are you dying but looking to play with Littlest Pet Shop toys in your final days?1 point
-
Snowspeeder with 'retiring soon' label but still with buy limit 5 pcs.? Propably they want to increase the interest because they have full warehouse of this set.1 point

LEGO is promoting the "Master Builder Series" name because a set like this is no ultimate collectible. My main issue besides the awful box art is the scale of the set. They should have made it work with the 75060 Slave 1 and left out the inadequate Slave I version in this set and put the extra parts towards the structure. They could have made entire design larger and sold a separate Cloud Car. I understand what LEGO was trying to accomplish here, but they cheesed out and instead of an iconic set, they got another set that displays poorly and will not generate the buzz that it could have. For almost $400, I want better than this...1 point

LOL. It's definitely a.... set. That much can be said... Kids will like it for it's playability but wont be able to afford it, and doubtful many parents will buy it for them... Parents/adults want to display something pleasing to the eye... This is not. I'm underwhelmed but not surprised.1 point

not too shabby . I do like the linear design of the original better though. but the price is a joke. oh well.. moving on1 point

Sad, just sad. Looks like a floor taken from the Death Star, very limited display ability, too expensive for what you get. I’m a big Star Wars fan and an AFOL, but this totally falls short of the mark for me... now I see WHY they kept it a secret so well. [emoji19] Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum1 point

Completely and utterly underwhelming, disappointing and the box art is a joke. It looks like made by 5yr old MOC rather than Ultimate Collector Series build. It looks like fan made build, it lacks the details and looks half arsed to me. Even the box graphic design looks terrible which they usualy nailed in that department. I predict Assault on Hoth success all over again.1 point

Selling is the hard part of all this. In fact most of the guys above have slowed or are not into it as much anymore is mostly due to the aspects of selling. We ALL LOVE the collecting and building our collections.. ? As for your ROI.. that depends on you. You could try to quick flip and just maintain a 20-30% usually after a year of holding it turns into a 50-90% then after that its all up in the air. Is the set well received by collectors or not. Keep in mind this is all high level rough numbers. Depends on the discounts you buy the sets at. Where or what platform you decide to sell on and competition on said platform. As a last tip, have a plan before you get to deep into purchasing. If you search these forums you will find Several posts about people who got to deep to fast and found that selling wasn't their thing and are now stuck with $20,000+ worth of lego (or worse) Try selling some now get set up to sell on Ebay. And keep enjoying the build... its LEGO after all.1 point
