  4. Even if Saturn v was a dead cert to go, I still wouldn't pile in. My neighbour has a garage full of these and he has no interest in Lego whatsoever, but plans to sell them off in four years time when he retires.

  5. I’d like a full review of the benefits that were offered first. I got a DJ minifig, a Y-wing blueprint, and two months of double points during the worst time for SW sets all year. I think there are a couple things I’m forgetting... Satisfaction = nil Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  10. We can live without them all (just about) ?. Though we are split on some as she must have the harry potter ones but I can live without them. Nostalgic ones are our favourites like the back to the future and ghost buster and OT star wars ones. We do feel frustatation already though as it's another line they are flooding too quickly and heavily with to make it financially viable (or justifiable) for the average person to collect. Becomes off putting ?

  12. Not necessarily. If you are a rational person that realizes it's crazy town to pay some of the prices these go for you don't sweat it. Sent from my PH-1 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  13. I couldn’t care less about the window. I was just trying to help/understand the post the person before me made about the printed pieces/brick built frame. In my opinion this is a gorgeous MOC, among the best. Doesn’t really matter to me if it is a genuine design compared to any comic book or whatever. 16. The new rules they put around sellers (like 30 days return, seller paid return to be TRS+, etc ) are slowly changing the platform to Amazon-lite.

  17. No idea on the time of year, but clearance generally starts at 60% then goes up to 75% to 90% within 2 to 3 weeks. I got a lot of Frozen crap for my daughter for 90% off a few years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  18. The 25 item restriction is not total blackmailing or a misuse of monopoly power...it is a measure designed to protect buyers on the platform from fly-by-night scammers during the busiest sales period of the year. Amazon wants to be sure that the people selling toys will actually follow through on fulfilling the orders they receive, which is one reason that they don't impose this requirement for products fulfilled through Amazon's service. And glad to hear that you won't ever be selling on Amazon...less competition for the rest of us.

  19. Image isn’t available (or at least I’m not seeing it on mobile) If it’s a small volunteer fire station I guess that’s okay. I’d personally prefer a lodge of some sort. Some place for skiers to enjoy time in the evening.

  21. You aren't wrong. Amazon is slowly constricting sellers until it has a small(er) group of what they deem as high quality, low risk, super sellers. This will require extreme amounts of bending to the will of Amazon. Selling your sole in various aspects. Whimsical product restrictions, triple bagging products, high turn over, low variability in received shipments etc. It does feel daunting at times and we are definitely feeding the monster. Private label companies think they are safe but Amazon has shown a propensity for going "we can make that" and undercutting you with better value. That being said the money is really good. I fully admit i'm selling part of my soul and my life strictly for $$$'s. To be honest most people who make a large amount of money do this. Whether playing politics, starting your own business and over working or hiring people with low wages. Some smaller startup companies are starting to get better about being run more ethically however there are very few.

  22. I dare say that I like 40293 better than the snowglobe or nutcracker. That knob obviously turns the carousel - I'll take that feature over another drawer. I still wish they would go back to doing at least one promo each year that fits in as part of the winter village. The small elf workshop that went with Santa's shop was great, and the horse drawn sleigh is still a standout. I'm hoping this leak is an indication that we'll get the full reveal of the WV set next week.

  25. For whats it worth, over on Brickmerge.de (German Lego Price site) plenty sets got the "Auslaufartikel" tag, which just means "Retiring soon". I don't know where they got that info and I also don't know if this means something or if it's complete nonsense. Anyway here is the Link to the site: https://www.brickmerge.de/?find=Auslaufartikel A few of the bigger ones are: Snowspeeder, Ferris Wheel, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Tower Bridge, Old Fishing Store, NASA Apollo Saturn V, Parisian Restaurant, Detectives Office, Bucket Wheel Excavator, Technic Extreme Adventure....

  27. Anyone else built this yet? This was a rare day 1 purchase for me. I just finished it last night - took about a week to build it and savor it a bit. My 10 year old son was able to negotiate building every third bag (there are 37 bags total), so when he was not building he was in my office every 5 minutes checking on my progress. As a Potter fan I think it's just a spectacular set and design. I feel like it will hold up as quite iconic on future top-10 lists. It has a great mix of small scenes/locations fans of the book will cherish, a number of clever building techniques and new pieces, and overall a lack of repetitive sections which kept it feeling fresh to me. Anyway I was quite glad I bought it and actually built it vs. keeping in the box like most of my collection. Is it completely perfect? No. Are there a lot of stickers? Yes. All things considered though I think they pulled off an awesome winner given the size, piece count, price combo.

  29. All set, the end result was freaking awesome. Hands down the best and most enjoyable set that I have ever built. The final piece is pretty sturdy and more importantly breathtaking . A must for any adult builder who is into the HP franchise . My 2 cents on some missed opportunities/cons from a die hard HP nerd POV . Stickers : about 70 - 75 of them. They do help keep the piece count down ( otherwise building some scenes would add a lot of elements ) and they do hit the mark portraying their respective scenes , however printed bricks would have been a better idea and added more elegance to the set Is this a Hogwarts Set or a HP Hogwarts set ? Meaning it stays loyal to HP's POV of the castle . Would have rather had the other 3 common rooms added along with the kitchen ( threw in an elf of two ) rather than have many scenes from the first movie. Speaking of first movie , should have added Fluffy and done away the dragon since again it is heavy one the first movie scenes. Room of requirements : in the dungeon? gmab Should have had Hagrid, no excuse for that one not to be included. Bonus micro figs : Slughorn, Lockhart, and Mad Eye.

  31. I´d say anyone who has doubts about acquiring this set at almost half price just a quarter before it retires might as well have doubts about buying ANY lego set for profit. Hoarded - for sure but there is and will be demand for this one well above that of niche stuff like the Unimog. The price of the Bugatti even makes it look good value at rrp.

  33. Silently in the background I have started to make major inventory purges. I am not "out" of the game, but my stash has gotten out of hand, and the bricklink store unmanageable. 60-70 ebay auctions for various CMF series, both complete and in bundles of 5-10, all sold around $4 each, buy in for most was around $2/each. Sold most of the higher priced guys on bricklink so these were mostly the stinkers just sitting in inventory. Overall, I would stay far far away from CMF (HP aside) as there is literally no market for them at MSRP. People wait them out and get them at $2-$3 each and smoosh out all the hotdogs, bananas, sharks, etc. FBA I mailed off between 1-25 of each of these sets. Most have been sitting there gathering dust and I dont think are going to "pop" at Xmas TMNT sub 79121 ($19) $59 AB piggy pane 75822 ($5) $25 (sent in 25 of these) Poe Xwing 75102 ($35) - $90 Speed Ford Raptor 75875 ($19) - $85 Heartlake Riding club 41126 ($19) $101 Water scooter 41000 ($1) $9 Deep sea starter ($5) $31 Raptor Rampage ($20) $160 Pirate outpost ($9) $40 Bulldozer 60074 ($20) $60 pop star bus ($19) $100 Airport terminal 60104 ($35) $170 Mirkwood army 79012 ($20) $70 Emmas hous 41095 ($20) $150 Mystery Machine 75902 ($18) - $84 Ecto 1 21108 ($30) - $90 FO transporter ($40) - $145 Pop star dressing room ($15) - $74 Arctic helicrane ($10) $90 Quinjet chase ($30)- $98 AIrport battle ($30)- $140 Heartlake lighthouse ($19) $70 Lincoln Memorial ($30) - $97 Tiger Widow Island ($18) - $55 Scout Trooper ($7 thanks WM) - $40 Utility Shuttle 60078 ($10) $60 Doc Ock heist ($10) - $37 mummy museum ($5) $41 duplo spiderman 10608 ($7) $65 Duplo spiderman bike ($5) $44 duplo batcave ($20) - $94 duplo fishing 10583 ($5) $50 will clear over $10,000 once Amazon takes their cut. Lessons learned are Raptor Rampage had better % returns for me than Raptor Escape Scooby Doo did really well, most people here have stacks of MM and mansions, but the lighthouse, plane and mummy have much higher returns Ecto 1 & 2 has much higher margins than the ideas Ecto 1 Duplo isn't sexy and isn't talked about here a lot, but can have incredible returns the "overdone" super hero sets can bring solid returns if the buy in is right (airport/quinjet) Angry birds was one of my easiest flips, buy in at 75% off MSRP real easy to make $10 a pop mailing them off in bulk I live in a smaller area, competition has increased from the local moms (I don't think many other pickers out here). This can be very profitable still, just need to know what to armsweep and what to leave behind. Nearly everything was purchased at Fred Meyer, BN, WM and Target. The inventory tools the WM app and target inventory are extremely helpful as well as making frequent trips to stores like BN so you get first dibs on clearance when it hits 50/70/$2. I still have quite a bit of newew inventory that I am trying to decide to let it ripen a little bit, or just unload it. Other stinkers that I have sold locally include some Tumblers and Ewok Village.

  42. Sold one of the very first sets I bought in this Lego investing hobby. Bought a full price, no freebies Tower of Orthanc at full price at the Lego store. Sold it today via Bricklink for $229.00. Netted a cool 3.30% profit after fees. Could've been worse. Only one more full price ToO to sell.

  43. Large Technic sets last 2.5 years so one would expect this to be done at end of 2018. The Bugatti replacement is on a 6 month overlap. Going in and out of stock now is a sign that this is accurate as they adjust production to demand.
