For the new people, "Retiring Soon" is SAH's shorthand for "This isn't selling. Please buy me."7 points

It arrived today. Cracked it open and verified everything. New and complete. Now with the toddler and newborn I expect to have time to build this around the time the re-re-release hits the shelves. For now it can hold the things my wife wants put up on the wall, but can't actually make a decision on where she wants me to hang it. It has a hippie halo. Peace and love from the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.4 points

Hi everyone I wanted to showcase my Lego Ideas project, The Old Workhorse - Traction Engine. If you like the model I'd really appreciate it if you could please vote for it https://ideas.lego.com/projects/2a2ec583-9836-4868-8dc7-6b3bb0a2fe80 "A roaring fire and a full head of steam, the old traction engine is ready for work!" I have created a scene set some time during the early 20th century. Farmers are working in the fields with their steam traction engine, affectionately known as "The Old Workhorse". The model includes a detailed mini fig scale traction engine, a wagon and various other accessories and mini builds. THE TRACTION ENGINE The main feature of the model is the traction engine itself. I've used a classic green and red livery with polished brass lining and details. There are several interesting parts used to create this engine including paint roller handles and mini fig syringes used to create the piping around the boiler and inside the cab. A system of cogs ensures that the flywheel spins around as the traction engine is pushed forward. A detailed cab interior includes steering wheel, controls and a firebox door that can be opened and closed to reveal the burning fire inside. The front wheel axle can be pivoted left and right. THE WAGON I've also included a wagon/trailer that can be coupled to the back of the traction engine and used to carry the various accessories included with the model. The sides of the wagon can be dropped down to provide loading access for the mini figs. There is space at the front of the wagon to hold tools and mini fig accessories. MINIFIGURES & OTHER ACCESSORIES Included with the model are 2 mini figs, a dog, a rat and several mini builds including tree stumps, logs and rocks. These are all designed to be carried and towed in the wagon. LEGO IDEAS Thanks very much for reading this. I hope you like the model. I've created a gallery album containing more pictures of the model if you'd like to check them out. https://community.brickpicker.com/gallery/album/310-the-old-workhorse-traction-engine/ If you would like to vote for the model on LEGO Ideas then here is the link to my page. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/2a2ec583-9836-4868-8dc7-6b3bb0a2fe80. Thank you very much! ☺️1 point

I wanted to bring attention to this as this has been happening to me frequently as well on some of the non-lego items which are condition sensitive. I attempted to get reimbursed for the items but this has never been successful. I attempted to create a broad case calling out the consistent remarks of "poor packaging". The only thing that has helped is double packaging the items such that even if Amazon puts it in a poly bag delivered by ace ventura it would still survive. This is obviously not ideal as it requires a fair amount of prep time I'd prefer to not have to spend. We are in fact paying Amazon to package and ship items for us. We should not have to go to extra great lengths to ensure that when they cut corners we aren't hurt. If anyone has any recommendations for ways to get some retribution from Amazon's side id appreciate it.1 point

Hi everyone, here are a few new pictures of my Lego Ideas Traction Engine I created earlier today... Hope you like them. Thanks to everyone who is supporting the model already on Lego Ideas. If you haven't done already and would like to vote for this model, then here is the link..https://ideas.lego.com/projects/2a2ec583-9836-4868-8dc7-6b3bb0a2fe80 Thanks very much.1 point

They have those 2-3 times a year, but they're typically linked to an account so you can only use one. If you have multiple Walmart accounts, you can use one per.1 point

For whats it worth, over on Brickmerge.de (German Lego Price site) plenty sets got the "Auslaufartikel" tag, which just means "Retiring soon". I don't know where they got that info and I also don't know if this means something or if it's complete nonsense. Anyway here is the Link to the site: https://www.brickmerge.de/?find=Auslaufartikel A few of the bigger ones are: Snowspeeder, Ferris Wheel, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Tower Bridge, Old Fishing Store, NASA Apollo Saturn V, Parisian Restaurant, Detectives Office, Bucket Wheel Excavator, Technic Extreme Adventure....1 point

Not sure of the date for being grandfathered (edited to add yes that time has passed if your were not on the listing already it is now hard gated as of right now). The top 100 toy list on Amazon can be found here (and there may be other hard gates on toys outside of Top 100 but these are just the ones I have checked so far): https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=17911189011 Looks like there is some Lego in there. My theory is Amazon struck a nice deal with the big toy manufacturers now that TRU is out of the picture to ensure plenty of supply this holiday season so they are just going to flood the market with their own supply at cheap cheap prices to drive plenty of traffic and really put the screws to Target and Walmart. Just wanted to give a heads up if your business model relies heavily on sourcing the hot toys for Amazon xmas it may be time to think about diversifying platforms this year.1 point

They did this last year with the Palace Cinema, complete with FaceBook post. Created some initial panic the resulted in "sold out", only to come back in stock for the holiday season...but did retire soon after. IMO it is on the way out this season, but they are just trying to generate some "panic" to offload remaining stock.1 point

My vote is on a Tantive IV re-make, similar to the 10198 from the 10th anniversary line.1 point

There must be a mistake!!!! I still would prefer no warnings and just disappeared though. Now watch the madness from all the last minute buyers to snap this set up. Then LEGO will move the retire soon tag back to Slave 11 point

Thought I would add a couple of new pictures of my Traction Engine model. Here it is alongside one of my other creations. A vintage mail van, loosely based on a British 1950's Morris J Type Commercial van. Thank you very much @Haay ?1 point

Agreed. The bigger winners are smaller sets, not modulars and UCS. Their big gainz days are over. Having said that I remember in 2015 how some one responded to a comment I made about diversification where they responded "Why diversity when you can just buy a whole bunch of Pet Shops". Almost every man and his dog have done that already. Big W are a great place to buy sets at insane prices (if you can get them). A bIg dub clearance is no sign of retirement though1 point
