All set, the end result was freaking awesome. Hands down the best and most enjoyable set that I have ever built. The final piece is pretty sturdy and more importantly breathtaking . A must for any adult builder who is into the HP franchise . My 2 cents on some missed opportunities/cons from a die hard HP nerd POV . Stickers : about 70 - 75 of them. They do help keep the piece count down ( otherwise building some scenes would add a lot of elements ) and they do hit the mark portraying their respective scenes , however printed bricks would have been a better idea and added more elegance to the set Is this a Hogwarts Set or a HP Hogwarts set ? Meaning it stays loyal to HP's POV of the castle . Would have rather had the other 3 common rooms added along with the kitchen ( threw in an elf of two ) rather than have many scenes from the first movie. Speaking of first movie , should have added Fluffy and done away the dragon since again it is heavy one the first movie scenes. Room of requirements : in the dungeon? gmab Should have had Hagrid, no excuse for that one not to be included. Bonus micro figs : Slughorn, Lockhart, and Mad Eye.6 points

OK...Let's please move on. I am partly to blame for extending the off topic BS so I apologize. These are difficult times and people are on edge. Let's get back to how LEGO is the root of all evil! These shows never die in syndication.3 points

Set is fine. I really don't watch the show. I don't like how they portray geeks.2 points

Interesting. Good potential for a future honey hole since that’s the last place I would think of to find Lego.1 point

One time I got takeout from Five Guys (burger place, if you aren’t familiar). I got back to work with my food and discovered that the double cheeseburger I ordered had no meat on it.?♂️1 point

The 10213 is a great set - I have some stored away, and based on the recent re-releases, I am not too worried about needing to move them. I would like to see a modular quality level series of sets for Harry Potter buildings - Starting with Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, which could be great in LEGO, with so many fun details to work with.1 point

I have a confession to make; I've been slowly cashing out of the game. This was always a short-term exercise for me to help boost my prospects of paying for a wedding & house deposit whilst at uni and that time is almost here. I only have 1 or 2 left of most things, except for 75099 Rey's Speeders. I was (perhaps stupidly) trying to sell them per box instead of individually and have now run out of steam to sell them. I have 30 of them in total. I don't know if anyone is interested in grabbing them in bulk off me at my buy-in price? Thought this would be the place to ask at least It would be $500 posted for the lot within Aus. Some easy cash to make in them I reckon, I wish I could hold onto them longer but time is no longer on my side.1 point

Just wanted to confirm that the post office modular is indeed just my MOC building "Brick Square Post Office". That box art shot is just something I knocked together in photoshop yesterday, but I apologise if it has tricked anyone, that definitely wasn't my intention. When I build my own modulars I always try and present them using similar backgrounds and camera angles to help them appear similar to official modulars. A couple of examples below... I created the box art shot to share on my instagram. I have posted many shots of my Post Office on there before and only have a small following so I assumed that people would realise it was just another fancy way of presenting my model. Perhaps it was a step too far though and I deleted the picture as soon as I heard that rumors had started to circulate about it. It had only been online for a few hours. You are right. The image is basically just the Downtown Dinner box with my model photoshopped on to it. Yes the mail van in the shot with my Steam Engine is the same one from the Post Office. Here is another picture with them all together. Once again, sorry folks if that picture tricked anyone.1 point

Thought I would add a couple of new pictures of my Traction Engine model. Here it is alongside one of my other creations. A vintage mail van, loosely based on a British 1950's Morris J Type Commercial van. Thank you very much @Haay ?1 point

Same as the prior Cloud City and in the same vein as the Death Star, it is unsurprisingly a playset except vastly improved from the original design. A high price point however I spot numerous types of large plates and pieces. I can only imagine how much this thing weighs. Almost an "all-in-one" layout similar to Assault on Hoth yet by comparison the Hoth set felt or appeared altogether complete then again there really is no way conceivable to create the entire Cloud City outside of what LEGO just did with Hogwarts Castle. There simply is too much of a city to cover aside from the most noteworthy scenes many of which have been done separately I believe. The redesigned Slave I and Cloud Car are nice. On one hand it is fun playset for the family with just about everything memorable conveniently included in a single set. On the other almost each individual component have been done as separate sets and in ways were better but then again said sets are no longer available. Perhaps LEGO could have released this in more detailed subsections with modular connectivity between them (Cloud City Landing Pad with Slave I, Han's Torture Chamber, the "I am your Father!" scene, and etcetera). Problem therein each could have retailed shy of a hundred dollars not to mention the amount of shelf space (in store & at home) taken by them all.1 point

This set is doing ok, nothing more nothing less. The auction sold prices are still marginally below RRP. When I'm 64 - it might then get to 2 X RRP.1 point

YMMV but I've had some success directing buyers to BrickLink, BrickOwl, or ebay with a price adjusted for the fees and shipping. Either they're willing to pay a premium over the CL price and use a payment method that gives you some fraud protection or it's not worth the sale.1 point

Cloud City makes the existing Jabba's Palace/Rancor Pit look like a masterpiece.1 point

A lot of hate on this set so far. We knew this was always going to be a big playset. Cloud City/Bespin is just a tough design to truly capture in LEGO form. It blows the original version out of the water and people are willing to pay $1,000+ plus on that one. Personally, I think this new version is great, but I have always liked LEGO playsets anyway...Yeah, it is pricey...but all LEGO is pricey. The minifigures are outstanding...especially digging that Luke and Leia1 point

It's going to be difficult to make a non-ship UCS level set that pleases everyone. This is fine for a big playset. Won't be worth investing in, not nice enough to display, but fun for kids who have rich parents.1 point
-
You aren’t alone. I’m very surprised LEGO hasn’t explored this yet. They could design a modular set with a solid core/base and sell future expansion packs/sets to enhance the build. But maybe Jabba/ Rancor spoiled that idea? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Price is too high. I don't hate the set, but I do hate the layout. The LEGO Shop at Home site lists this as 22"x22" and something this size is hard to throw on a shelf and get down to play with. A linear or more modular layout would at least offer some storage options. That won't be a problem for me though since this will be a pass unless there is a good sale. I'm not sure if they made a display type of set that I would automatically recognize it as Cloud City. That Leia figure is nice though.1 point

My bets: 90% - PR (first in time line of modulars), Holiday train (winter sets has regular EOL) 75 % - Slave (too long life for UCS) 50 % - Ferris Wheel (3 years old, but good for combination with carousel and rollercoaster), Saturn (Ideas set have short live, but this is a hot seller + next year is anniversary of moon landing), Fishing store (same story), GBHQ and Silent Mary (depends on the licence) 0 - 5 % - Death star (why to retire a re-made set after 2 years, while the previous version was here 8 years?), and the rest of exclusives... unable to predict - VW T1, Tower Bridge (they should be already dead for years), Minicooper (younger than T1, but it can jump it as Ferrari), Assembly Square (special life time for special set?), Disney Castle (it can live for 2 but also 8 years, since it is a special set related to Disney parks)1 point

I made a $650 sale via Bricklink that included my only two Piggy Pirate Ships (163% gain), all four Riddler Riddle Racers (460% gain), and my only three Nexo sets, Jestro's Volcano Lair (59% gain). What makes this sale more notable is that it pushed my "cash on hand" total to over $10,000 for the first time ever (combined PayPal and actual cash). I'm stacked on cash for the next round of Walmart price drops, but that isn't coming........ Not sure how my $10k stacks up against others in this hobby (and it doesn't matter), but I feel like that's a good landmark and makes me feel like I'm coming out ahead on this. Someday I might even tell my wife how much cash on hand there is! Knowing that within 24 hours of that announcement, there will be someone at the house generating a quote for new floors on the main level.1 point

But that's like comparing 75904 to 10212, regular Imperial Shuttle vs the UCS version. They're different scales. I'm going to buy this eventually. Not in a rush as in the past due to the way Lego is producing sets now.1 point
