LEGO is promoting the "Master Builder Series" name because a set like this is no ultimate collectible. My main issue besides the awful box art is the scale of the set. They should have made it work with the 75060 Slave 1 and left out the inadequate Slave I version in this set and put the extra parts towards the structure. They could have made entire design larger and sold a separate Cloud Car. I understand what LEGO was trying to accomplish here, but they cheesed out and instead of an iconic set, they got another set that displays poorly and will not generate the buzz that it could have. For almost $400, I want better than this...7 points

Well, at least they did an A1 job keeping it under wraps prior to the reveal.4 points

TLG are apparently using the same roadmap as Microsoft did for their D2C SW sets.3 points

Bring this back- First my weekend Score- Local Estate Sale showed this in their listing I walk into the sale and figure a few towers of bulk sorted- then I see this on the floor I asked the sale worker how much for everything, bundle deal. Needless to say their number was lower then mine. So I called for backup, got another van and got it all, except one plane I let some kid buy. There is Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Grand Carousel, other modulars. Some custom MOCs, entire bin of baseplates. I only am 6 boxes in.3 points

Seriously? UCS Slave-1 and the UCS MILF meet the mail for me. Pretty ultimate in my books, and even minifig scale!2 points

I´d say anyone who has doubts about acquiring this set at almost half price just a quarter before it retires might as well have doubts about buying ANY lego set for profit. Hoarded - for sure but there is and will be demand for this one well above that of niche stuff like the Unimog. The price of the Bugatti even makes it look good value at rrp.2 points

You're also comparing a set that was available for 34 months (Poe's) compared to 18 months (Resistance). That makes a huge difference.2 points

Add in AoH UCS set (recently retired), Slave1 UCS, Carbon Freezing Chamber, Yodas Hut, Boba Fett buildable....2 points

I've already seen them on the shelves in all the TRU stores I went to last month....2 points

GBHQ is a great set, it is very far from the 'cheesed out' category. Bat Cave on the other hand...2 points

As last year 4 Promo Sets coming. Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Ninjago & Super Heroe Image from promobricks.de Dont know if TRU USA will be supplied with the sets. I like Jurassic World the most, after that Harry Potter1 point

Boba Fett buildable shows him flying over the sarlacc pit so that's ROTJ But your point is still very much valid. Much love for the 5th movie from Lego...1 point

I consider Doctor Who and the Beatles to be golden - but when Tabby agrees with my thoughts, then all things are in doubt.1 point

Totally agree with the sentiment in this thread, Unfortunately I came out of the dark ages and decided to heavily invest in UCS Star Wars sets, Disney have killed this unicorn of a franchise by oversaturating the market weakening The franchise with vanilla one dimension characters that nobody cares about, The last Jedi made my brain hurt.1 point

That's an insult to "Crap" to have it listed with Windows ME. The fact that MS replaced it so quickly confirms it, even they realized it was... #$(*@^.1 point

One other thought, with the midi-Slave 1 I'm betting more money on LEGO retiring UCS Slave 1 this winter. The UCS version has been around since 2015 and now they have another Slave 1 to sell.1 point

I said that in another thread. It's ironic that Assault on Hoth tried to combine all the smaller Hoth sets LEGO had been releasing and failed. For Bespin they jumped directly to one big set with everything. How cool would it have been if the Carbon Freezing Chamber would have connected to additional sets? MOCers would have had a blast with those. Unlike the DS, which everyone recognizes right away, this has no iconic look that says "Bespin." If it had plates which folded up like the MF (75105), then it could be a cool display set which opens to be a play set. At least it has better minifigures than AoH. The price is sadly about the same as the (Disney) DS price tag... around $0.125 US / piece.1 point

I asked my GF what she thought the set was and she answered "something with the top taken off?"1 point

Is the carbon chamber retired? Seems like a complete waste of pieces to include this. Lego should have just designed an area where we could insert the carbon chamber.1 point

Lego is making it easier for me to skip expensive sets. Pretty disappointing.1 point

I would much rather see play-sets like the UCS Sandcrawler. Lots of playability for kids, but is still serves as an accurate model that pleases adults and collectors.1 point

This is probably one of the coolest things I have seen on this site in a long time! Great get!!!!1 point

what do you think it was worth some I will keep and some to re-sell? The came up with ~ $3800 as they had individually priced it out1 point

You aren’t alone. I’m very surprised LEGO hasn’t explored this yet. They could design a modular set with a solid core/base and sell future expansion packs/sets to enhance the build. But maybe Jabba/ Rancor spoiled that idea? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Curious who LEGO think is the target market for this set. It does not look like "display on your CEO's desk" type of set. It is basically just a LEGO diorama. Maybe it needs some kind of dome over it to make it looks like Bespin?? It has several play features, but for $350, is it really for kids? How many young kids nowadays appreaciate ESB and actually want to buy a set based on Bespin? Err, how many kids actually know what Bespin is??? https://shop.lego.com/en-US/Betrayal-at-Cloud-City-752221 point

They were able to keep the pics a secret because every time the pics leaked people saw that box art and said no way this is legit.1 point
-
It would look a bit less ugly if they took the backside box art for the frontside. But the way it is, this one is definitely in the Top 5 of worst Lego Star Wars box art of all time. Luckily for TLG this isn't a $300+ set... oh, wait...1 point

After looking at the pictures on Shop@Home Figures are amazing. Han has dual molded, side printed leg pieces. Leia Bespin outfit is amazing. New Lando, boom. Displayability, however, is severely lacking. The Cloud City shape is not there, it's more of a beefed up 10123 than a DS 10188, and for $350, we should get more than that. I'm bummed, this really went from a Day 1 purchase to a maybe purchase. I display UCS sets from Star Wars and I'm not displaying this, nobody would even know what it was without getting up close and checking out what was going on. They know what the UCS MF is from 20 feet away. At the very least, I'll pick up the figures, or buy the set and part it out when there is a good giveaway going on.1 point
-
I agree. They likely listened to fans about calling AoH a UCS set so came up with a new name for basically the same thing. Kids will love the set. I display my sets and this one isn't really a display set, it is more of a play set which kids will love......if their parents buy it. I personally think this will not do well. Adults don't like it and it is too expensive for parents.1 point
