Silently in the background I have started to make major inventory purges. I am not "out" of the game, but my stash has gotten out of hand, and the bricklink store unmanageable. 60-70 ebay auctions for various CMF series, both complete and in bundles of 5-10, all sold around $4 each, buy in for most was around $2/each. Sold most of the higher priced guys on bricklink so these were mostly the stinkers just sitting in inventory. Overall, I would stay far far away from CMF (HP aside) as there is literally no market for them at MSRP. People wait them out and get them at $2-$3 each and smoosh out all the hotdogs, bananas, sharks, etc. FBA I mailed off between 1-25 of each of these sets. Most have been sitting there gathering dust and I dont think are going to "pop" at Xmas TMNT sub 79121 ($19) $59 AB piggy pane 75822 ($5) $25 (sent in 25 of these) Poe Xwing 75102 ($35) - $90 Speed Ford Raptor 75875 ($19) - $85 Heartlake Riding club 41126 ($19) $101 Water scooter 41000 ($1) $9 Deep sea starter ($5) $31 Raptor Rampage ($20) $160 Pirate outpost ($9) $40 Bulldozer 60074 ($20) $60 pop star bus ($19) $100 Airport terminal 60104 ($35) $170 Mirkwood army 79012 ($20) $70 Emmas hous 41095 ($20) $150 Mystery Machine 75902 ($18) - $84 Ecto 1 21108 ($30) - $90 FO transporter ($40) - $145 Pop star dressing room ($15) - $74 Arctic helicrane ($10) $90 Quinjet chase ($30)- $98 AIrport battle ($30)- $140 Heartlake lighthouse ($19) $70 Lincoln Memorial ($30) - $97 Tiger Widow Island ($18) - $55 Scout Trooper ($7 thanks WM) - $40 Utility Shuttle 60078 ($10) $60 Doc Ock heist ($10) - $37 mummy museum ($5) $41 duplo spiderman 10608 ($7) $65 Duplo spiderman bike ($5) $44 duplo batcave ($20) - $94 duplo fishing 10583 ($5) $50 will clear over $10,000 once Amazon takes their cut. Lessons learned are Raptor Rampage had better % returns for me than Raptor Escape Scooby Doo did really well, most people here have stacks of MM and mansions, but the lighthouse, plane and mummy have much higher returns Ecto 1 & 2 has much higher margins than the ideas Ecto 1 Duplo isn't sexy and isn't talked about here a lot, but can have incredible returns the "overdone" super hero sets can bring solid returns if the buy in is right (airport/quinjet) Angry birds was one of my easiest flips, buy in at 75% off MSRP real easy to make $10 a pop mailing them off in bulk I live in a smaller area, competition has increased from the local moms (I don't think many other pickers out here). This can be very profitable still, just need to know what to armsweep and what to leave behind. Nearly everything was purchased at Fred Meyer, BN, WM and Target. The inventory tools the WM app and target inventory are extremely helpful as well as making frequent trips to stores like BN so you get first dibs on clearance when it hits 50/70/$2. I still have quite a bit of newew inventory that I am trying to decide to let it ripen a little bit, or just unload it. Other stinkers that I have sold locally include some Tumblers and Ewok Village.4 points

You know, I know it's a Lego forum but every time I see MILF I still think of the movie American Pie first.3 points

Did some smooshing at Barnes and Noble today. Awkward because they put the box right by the registers, but the lady was fine with it as long as I found her a dumbledore. Went 6/6 in terms of finding (x2) Luna Lovegood, (x2) Potter with Invisibility Cloaks and (x2) Credence. Box was half gone when I found it so didn't have high hopes. I thought I got lucky and felt the two hairpieces of Percival....but I got "Moody-ied" LOL ?2 points

It's time for LEGO to make a full blown Winter Train set with Power Functions and a complete circular track large enough to go under a XMAS tree.2 points

Picked up a used UCS R2 for $140 off Offer Up last weekend. It’d been on there for a year at $195, kept waiting for them to drop the price so I went in low and accepted their counter.2 points

Given the abundance of great HP sets now available (with more waves coming), I'd say this is more like the Disney Castle. One of the draws for the MILF was how valuable the original was, which made made $800 seem like a bargain. Plus it had the notoriety of being the "biggest set ever released by Lego" and the fact that the Last Jedi about to be released. While I don't see a discount on HC anytime soon, chances are that it will be in stock during double-VIP points promotions.1 point

When you already have an item marked down on sale (lets say from $100 to $90), and someone makes you an offer (lets say $60), and you respond to that offer (lets say $75), and then they counter that offer (@ $67.50) while also adding "How about we meet in the middle?" The middle of what exactly?1 point

Curious question. If we look back at Disney minifigs (in which you can currently get a whole set for about $5 a figure - $1 over retail), do we really thing HP will perform that much better? I like the figures, and I don't doubt the HP fanbase, but I always thought the Disney figures had a pretty solid following too... and they are barely making it over retail . Obviously if you got the Disney figures at discount its gravy and same applies to HP, but for the collector who buys at retail, does anyone think these perform super well 2-3 years down the line? And is it worth it to hold onto to a few complete sets. Do you we think they severely out perform Disney? Could be, I really don't know who has the bigger fan base.1 point

Thanks, I have a sealed box on the way and will confirm. At lease this makes things easier.1 point

Sold a lego box, A BOX! It was an empty Lego 76052 Classic 1960's Batcave set. It sold for $16.50. I have no idea why the guy wanted it.1 point

Man, I just feel so uncomfortable standing in an aisle getting my smoosh on. I'm about to embrace it though after getting 3 Kowalskis in a row...1 point

Listing for a 75060 UCS Slave I for $50 on Craigslist. I email and they send a picture and ask me if I want to take another set as well so they can clear up space. It was the 7965 Millennium Falcon. I figure being the kind person I am I would relieve them of that burden. Above are the pictures they sent me. They are currently sitting on the floor of my car. Worth the 15 minute break from work. Since I have a 75060 set aside for me already, I'm considering making one a Jango Fett Slave I. Have to start bricklinking some dark blue.1 point

^ That is beautiful! I spot lots of creative use of pieces for styling. I also feel there's a nice balance of detailing that doesn't overwhelm as it's a smaller sized model. Very nice!1 point

There be whales here! I got lucky on a Craigslist pick-up on these (was first to call) for $150 each with manuals (they were listed for $120 each). Someone from Maryland ran up the price on me, so if that's you, say hello so I can glare at you across the inter-tubes. These are personal builds for the kids and I, the last holes in the Modular collection.1 point

Actually, selling 1,000 units on EBAY would be very easy compared to 1,000 different sets. One listing, repeated. One style box for shipping, repeated. I think his theory makes sense, as long as you have 1,000 buyers for the set.1 point
