  1. The closing of TRU still hurts, it's difficult for me to think about TRU without some emotional attachment given that I grew up on TRU like many folks. One very interesting thing - I was in Asia recently, and TRU continues to THRIVE over there. Here is a picture of a TRU in Hong Kong. It was very crowded, and difficult to move around. Items were flying off the shelves, and the LEGO section was stocked with all the latest stuff. It was awesome. Somehow and some way, I still hold out hope that TRU may return some day. We will see.

  11. In my opinion the The Super Hero Girls theme has a few hidden gems. One of them is 41230. I just bought 70 of them from one seller who was trying to off load them. I'm all in on this set. When everyone else zigs, I like to zag. I'll be making it rain with all of the Benjamin's I'll be raking in off of this diamond in the rough. Mark my words. You heard it here first.

  16. Hey All, I grew up on Lego and have always loved the brand, along with other great brands that were popular in the 1980's such as Transformers, GI Joe, and Star Wars. After experimenting with different toy brands, my boys keep coming back to Lego, which is great! It's been fun to share our love of Lego together. This is a great website!

  27. Come on Loghamel...haven't you been paying attention? According to Tabby, the Lego market has already gone down the toilet and no one is buying Lego anymore. In his world, Lego will probably have to start paying people to take their products off their hands...or some crap like that. Back in the real world, I agree with you, HP is going to be huge for Lego. From a reselling perspective, it should be solid too, but I'm a bit wary on it since it is soooo obvious that there should be a ton of them put away for resale.

  28. I hope your tongue is firmly planted in your cheek. HP is going to be the largest winner for LEGO in a very, very long time. I'm not claiming I'm predicting that because it's embarrassing to call that a 'prediction'.

  37. Boy people are hard to please! I get some of the critiques but man, what else can they do. They seem to be hopefully heading down a path where they'll release a few more castle sets to put a Hogwarts together (need a Gryffindor Tower set) in more of a minifig scale. This is an awesome display model though. I'm amazed they didn't price it at $499, I think it sells easily with that many pieces (I get there are a lot of small ones). I'm excited because it also looks fun to build! Few repetitive sections and I'm sure tons of creative techniques you can't even see in the pics. For me they knocked it out of the park on this one.

  38. I don't get the hate for this scale. If you want Minifig scale, just buy the regular sets like usual.
    1 point
  39. I don't think you could do this smaller without it losing the wow factor of the building itself. The Disney castle looks right at this scale, but I think with Hogwarts, they either had to go with the microfigure or scale it up to minifig at a price which would have put it out of reach of most people.

  40. There’s a big difference between Disney and Hogwarts castles: Disney has a much smaller footprint and greater height. It’s all vertical, which means piece count goes down (or at least smaller pieces) as the build goes up. Hogwarts is sprawling. It’s footprint is huge! And that means piece count/size is more consistent throughout. Thus, it would be way more expensive! Not to mention the difference in price between 20 nanos and 20 minis! 41. And how many people do you see paying between $1,200 and $1,500 for this as a minifig scale set, because that's what it would need to be
