Yeah, multi national corporations really should consult random internet posters when making licensing decisions.4 points

I’d be suspicious if I ever saw a Walmart shelf so neatly packed. Afraid I was on episode of Punked, or Candid Camera for you old timers.3 points

Kinda long, but an excellent interview and good coverage of his city layout.3 points

I'm just hoping that tomorrow is better than the 25% off google express code. I was hoping to max out $400 of these beauties... but there was a hard limit of 10. So I went with holiday trains instead.1 point

If you guys have any left, 10697 Brick Box is $183 FBA and they are selling. I thought these guys would be dead ducks after the rerelease, guess not.1 point

30% seems great on Silent Mary. About what it was at at Toys R Us then they sold out. Reselling on eBay around $160 to $180. Was never into the movie or the pirate theme. Similar piece count to Destiny's Bounty at about 2,300. I kind of like DB style better but SM has that authentic tattered look to it. I bought one to have after all. I had a vision of ship in a bottle next to the old fishing store next to this ship.1 point

I don't care if this thing can backflip. It's ugly, plain and simple. If Lego truly took functionality over design, they lost my money. Others will disagree, but that's my take.1 point

Just hanging out with my falcons, waiting for the Amazon lowballers to weed themselves out.1 point

I dont think that's the case anymore. Too many options for trexs, raptors, dilophosaurus's and pternadons. They milked it with this line. They'll milk it even further in 2021. The good days are gone.1 point

I agree that you can´t design something to be collectible but you can manage supply to do it (41999 Crawler) or to undo it (Pet Shop). Collect and limited are also two of the most frequently used words in Lego group marketing but in recent years they have contradicted that by expanding the range so much and reducing the time between re-releases to 0. Things were better before, even the owner of this site admits that now. People are still making good money trading Lego or we wouldn´t be here, but this theme is slowly working its way down the profitability charts as seen below and success is ever more dependent on buy-in and a quick turn around. https://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/cagrbytheme.cfm1 point

There are many issues with the STAR WARS theme. Here are a few... Remakes Overproduction of sets Too many STAR WARS sets to choose from (66 in 2017...17 in 2007) Too many movies that uninspire Too many sets that uninspire Kids into YouTube, IPhones/Pads, video games Knockoffs1 point

I agree. I am not a Star Wars person, but there's no doubt in my mind that the OT/Prequels are the least safe options in moderate to long term. They're being rehashed too quickly and have limited opportunities in terms of content- especially with Disney refusing to acknowledge the extended universe. Personally, I'm avoiding the sequel sets because I don't think they will be redeemed as easily as the prequels were since Disney has cut off any opportunity for extended universe that could make their content agreeable. But Rogue One and Solo are decent, even good, movies that I think have a lot more investment potential because they seem like one and done sets that will not see remakes for a moderate while. Their interest is generally limited, but they feature all new designs and minifigs that are just adjacent enough to the OT that they will be desired by OT fans while still also appealing to the younger generation (who seem to blindly support the subversive politics that are gutting the series' old characters). On top of that, I'm willing to bet that in 2-4 years, the general "meh" attitude towards them will shift more positively as they are viewed separate from the sequels. I admit that I could be a fool down the road, but Rogue One is definitely a line that seems to offer what OT collectors want: expansive settings, interesting vehicles that feel mostly faithful, relevance to the OT that builds out its world. Obviously, I'm small time and seriously pick and choose sets that I don't mind building myself if things don't pan out. LEGO needs to fix overproduction and Disney seems to now be aware that they have to either slow these films down so mainstream consumers don't get fatigued, or stop upsetting the classic fans who will keep up with the pace.1 point

We know LEGO as a whole has been struggling. Overpriced, overproduced, and a lot of uninspired designs. It's not an issue unique to the SW theme other than price point being especially problematic for licensed themes. So I'd pin the blame first on LEGO treating their IP like a commodity rather than a collectible. If box office success was a primary driver of the LEGO market, stores wouldn't be able to keep Black Panther sets in stock let alone have to offer discounts.1 point

Rian Johnson dropped the ball on treatments of new characters from TFA. Both Finn and Poe were potrayed as incompetent males and Kylo was a weak bad guy. What little boys want to play with those kind of characters???1 point

They are a lame duck...With the exception of a few special sets or sets that are bought at extremely discounted prices, the STAR WARS theme is done as an investment. Until LEGO and Disney part ways, there will be an overproduction of STAR WARS sets that cost too much and differ very little from predecessors.1 point

March 30, 2018. This is a date that will forever be remembered. I can get a little emotional at times. As an adult, there are a few instances when I've shed a tear. I cried when my son was born. I cried again a year later when my daughter was born. I cried tears of joy when my beloved Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl 31 after three decades of mediocrity, and again when they won Super Bowl 45. The last time I cried was two years ago this April when my Mom passed away. March 30, 2018. Today is another day that I've sobbed like a baby. Upon waking up for work, I checked my phone like I always do. Waiting for me was a PayPal notification. A large one. I checked my Bricklink account, and it appears that some blessed soul has decided that they needed some Steam Rollers in their life. Yes, some Steam Rollers. All of them. 27 to be exact. Gone. Purchased by an unknown person. A risk taker. A gambler. A guardian angel, perhaps? I began this saga with over 50 of those Steam Rollers. I'd sell one here, one there through multiple platforms, slowly chipping away at that number. I whittled it down to 27. Now I have 0. They are gone. The purchase price was just a shade over $1k. I'll make a few bucks on each one after the usual fees and shipping, but that's not the point in this circumstance. The nightmare is finally over. March 30, 2018 is my Independance Day.1 point
