Hi! I’m looking for advice on how to keep my husband’s LEGO collection safe when we move and then store them at our new home. I saw some people on YouTube say that they wrapped the minifigures in kitchen plastic wrap and then put them in plastic storage bins to keep them from getting scratched up from one another. This seems alright for a few weeks, but the boxes of wrapped minifigures might end up in storage for years depending on if my husband puts them up for display or not. Is there a chance that the wrap could degrade and harm his collection? His legos really make him happy and it would be sad if anything happened to them. The wrap I’ve started using is regular BPA free plastic wrap for food. If that’s a danger I can start over with safer materials. Thank you for your time and I hope someone has some insight to help me keep my husband from a possible LEGO tragedy!1 point

Yea, I echo the same thought; more effort than it’s worth. LEGO ships their sets with the bricks loose in bags, prone to rubbing on each other. It doesn’t hurt the lego. Wrapping figs individually to prevent that damage is a bit of a waste of time in my honest opinion.1 point

Others have already touched on the various methods to move Lego, so I've got nothing to add to those excellent suggestions, but what you just said is why I would box it all up and store it. It sounds like Lego was your husbands passion. The kids might say now that they don't want them, but all kids go through their "dark ages" when Lego isn't very high on their interest level. Twenty years from now when they are going through the attic and they come across their fathers old collection I bet they will be grateful that you held onto it. It will bring back many great memories. Unless you absolutely need the money, I'd consider hanging onto it. I wish you the best with whatever direction you decide to take.1 point

Item Weights (not shipping): Taj Mahal 6.35 kg 75159 DS 6.36 kg GB HQ 6.42 kg Ninjago City 6.16 kg Disney Castle 5.76 kg Depending on how many small pieces we get, I could see this anywhere between 5500 and 7000 pieces. This could be great... (and expensive)1 point

have you noticed the weight? Porsche is with the shipping LEGO box 5.4 kg.. this is 2 kg more. new Ninjago City Docks are just below 5 kg. so and educated guess.. that should be somewhere between 5-6.000 pcs?1 point

You’d think LEGO would want to support their most popular reviewers, instead of having them banned.1 point

I think the buyout 12 years ago or whenever was the primary reason. They could have probably lasted another 10 years if they would have been managed by a better parent company, and streamlining their online sales of course.1 point

The Creeper will be the first Brickhead to use the Square eye with the BH pattern. The Creeper legs are a nice change too.1 point

My husband very recently passed away and he was an avid Lego collector. We have many kits that have been built, and the Lego's all co-mingled. How do I go about knowing the value of these? All instruction books are still available. We have also added to the loose pieces with yard sale finds and Lego store buys. He delighted in just buying the Lego's after he had torn down his initial very large set up. One yard sale I came upon a bucket of minifigs, and he was just besides himself. I love that he found so much joy in this. But now I need to know what to do with everything as eventually I will need to downsize. Thank you.0 points
