Then I built the UCS Tie from my “build as soon as you come up with some more display space” pile. Saturn V, UCS Hoth, and a 6211 ISD, up next in the queue. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app11 points

After watching these reviews, I am seriously considering stocking up on old PF as people will prefer them for less batteries, more power and the polarity switch. Plus you can connect more than 2 devices.3 points

I've not seen the AS review but I doubt he 'rants'. His measured, articulate style is a rarity amongst the sea of swill that is YouTube.3 points

I built a 76086 Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack from the $20 Target deal. This set is garbage. I pity anyone that pays full price for this thing.3 points

If anyone is interested it’s the IKEA IVAR shelving system. They have a 12” depth and a 20” depth and various shelf widths. This is 20” depth with 30” shelves. The vertical pieces and shelves are $10 each and the cross braces are $5 each. It’s unfinished solid pine. Really easy to put together. This setup was $260 total minus a $25 off coupon I got for joining their rewards program. I had planned on building a built-in shelving/cabinet across this 14’ wall but that’s not happening anytime soon and I needed to increase organization of my display and set storage.2 points

finally got around to building this little guy. some of you may remember months ago when i found this at the thrift store with no box but still in sealed bags along with instructions for the wonderful price of $10, which i then used a 30% off coupon on to bring it down to just $7. nice looking set, better in person than in pics on the box. i could see lego updating this someday with a more rounded, smoother look, but this version is a great rendition still. i would think this would be a little more valuable at this point ( i still have a sealed one i got at target for $125 long ago, my first “investment” set) but i’m guessing it’s because it doesn’t really have any rare parts and can be bricklinked easily.2 points

Promobricks.de has their review online: https://www.promobricks.de/lego-40291-creative-storybook-hans-christian-andersen-im-review/61256 The booklet includes suggestions for additional fairy tales displays, though those pieces nor instructions are not included: I think this is a brilliant absolutely MUST HAVE promo and I am guessing it will 'sell out' very quickly!1 point

Those are just the standard metal shelves people get from eBay. I buy mine from Target. They run $40-50 depending on what size. I set the top shelf lower so that the rails hold the sets in when rolling. I just buy the wheels and can roll them around as needed. There are more behind the ones you see. I just roll the ones in the front out of the way. It's all about maximizing space and accessibility.1 point

I believe that this change is mostly about ebay getting that extra 1% (while also being able to claim improving the buyer experience). A few years back (I can't recall the exact details), an ebay upper management person slipped up, and mentioned publicly that the previous TRS changes had failed to meet the goals set for lowering the TRS discounts. It's one thing to frustrate sellers into giving up (which has been the norm), but in this case the change could be bad enough that many TRS will prefer not to participate.1 point

I moved 1000+ lego boxes a year ago. 1/4 of the moving truck was filled with 100+ Packing boxes, 1/4 was for my furniture. I measured lego boxes and went to ULINE to buy matching size packing boxes. I stacked multiple lego boxes into one packing box and put another packing box upside down to pack. For example, big sets like 10234, I used two 24 x 20 x 8 inches packing boxes, put in three 10234 standing up side by side, the depth of the 10234 is 6.75 inches, three of them added up about 20 inches, the length of the 10234 is 23 (~24 inches). Then put another 24 x 20 x 8 packing box upside down covering up and tape the two packing boxes at the joining point. It applies to all other lego sets but mainly for larger sets. It did take quite a bit time and work to pack 1000+ lego sets. But the movers loved it because most of the packing boxes were the same or similar size. It did not waste the space inside the moving truck. The damage to 1000+ lego during the transit was nil and so were all the packing boxes. I then reuse those packing boxes for packing the set being sold because of the right size. However, I did feel sorry for the movers when they had to carry all the packing boxes to the second floor of the new location. All packing boxes were bulky and heavy.1 point

I disagree with this list...need to be more specific...ex, best technic sets, best small/large sets and so on...everybody has own opinion for set coolness. I know and own lots (just 250+ sealed)of sets i love... Sent from my SM-N900T using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

I built the 70413 The Brick Bounty and it was a fun build that was not repetitive. The shark is missing (I bought set used on CL), is on order from BrickLink and roaming the high seas battling an alligator (in the background of the first picture) is not the same, unless you are sailing in the Florida Everglades or the Louisiana bayou. That imaginative play is beyond my scope and I am a completist. The sails really stand out and that is why I wanted this set. This set is a great alternative to the higher priced ships in the Pirate series, especially for those that got back into Lego a little late like I did and missed the 10210 Imperial Flagship, 6285 Black Seas Barracuda, and the 6243 Brickbeard’s Bounty. The minifigure selection is very good and I am a Pirate series fan! One minifigure is not in the photo, though I did have it (Pirate 4 - Vest and Anchor, Eyepatch ). The Pirate Captain almost looks like Captain Brickbeard, and in some ways looks even better. My only minor complaint with this set is it only comes with two cannons, not four – an easy mod and fix.1 point

Not essentially today but finally after months of planning, ordering multiple times from brick-link, buying from PaB walls in store, redesigning, restructuring, testing, balancing, rebuilding, destroying by accident... I was finally able to finish my extremely frustrating but fantastic project of mounting this extremely fragile but adorable baby on the wall. 75192 is mounted on a solid TV-Mount (plate) attached to the wall with custom extended 4 point weight distribution bolts to keep it well balanced across the mid-structure without putting to much pressure on single section of the chassis. With some extra changes to the weight and centre-balance I was able to give it little more angular aspect to get more "air" on the bottom. Clearance on the top to the wall is about 1.5cm and bottom 6.5cm. That clearance on top and bottom gave me a little more leeway in designing the schematics for lighting kit. After testing with number of different lighting setups I came up with this as a final design. I wanted to give it on the bottom an extra push of light for obvious reasons :) Lighting is fully programmable with already programmed by me ignition sequence - flashing white lights -> red quick ignition pulse -> blue light -> blue light fading in/out. whole thing is remote controlled. reference: https://youtu.be/jPEYpryMp2s?t=75 + custom made sockets (under bottom engine outlets on left and right) for 2x 10 000 mAh Powerbanks to juice the lighting kit because from very beginning I wanted to avoid the cable management situation and keep it as clean as possible. And here it is.. I'm proud but exhausted and tired with whole thing... hope you gonna like it1 point

Love the final result but man was the build frustrating. By far the worst instructions I've had to work with and I've built a lot of classic sets. Cleaning baked in dust and sorting 500+ black pieces added to the frustration (I actually don't mind refurbing classic sets but this one again was more difficult than usual). I added the railing in the back of the "message intercept" section. Anyway, I really dig the abstract nature of classic space base sets. Not all are good but this one and a few of others are kind of beautiful to look at.1 point
