  2. As of today, April 7th 2018, the original Space theme by LEGO hits the four Earthen decades mark. For many it was what brought us into the building block fold with their band of galactic explorers. Although the theme has not truly been continued in any official capacity outside of a few nods and promos, the classic legacy treks ever onward through the fans' creations with what is generally called as Neo Space. You can find a number of such various MOCs in the thread linked for all the classic Space teams. Classic Space @ 40 by justin_m_winn

  8. I don't usually post in this thread, but I couldn't resist this time. A very nice gentleman (ex-Lego employee), presented these four sets for sale on FB. He was very generous and accepted $500 for all of them. Now I'm torn......keep or sell?? My kids are drooling!!

  15. The Ghost set was released July 2014. Here is how to read the seal codes: https://bricks.stackexchange.com/questions/7014/what-does-the-4-digit-number-embossed-on-my-lego-set-represent. Kudos to Phil B for answering this question on the included web site link! If your set has a seal code close to July 2014 you very likely have the rare minifigure.

  16. The rare Kanan Jarrus minifigure has black hair and you may able tell from the seal codes on the box If the seal codes are from an early production run, you likely have the rare version of the minifigure. From Brickipedia: Kanan has a hairpiece which is the appears to be a new mould. He has an olive green torso which is printed to depict a green shirt and a dark shoulder armour. He also has grey legs with a holster printed on. He wields a blue lightsaber And a medium blaster rifle. Although Kanan has brown hair in the Star Wars Rebels series, the minifigure version was released worldwide with black hair. A few months after release, Kanan was re-released with brown hair. Parts were available on the LEGO.com site for replacements.

  21. My kids want the Wind Generator, my wife wants the Nutcracker, and I like the trains. Maybe just sell the birds to offset the cost, and keep the rest? Fun decision to make! BTW....The Nutcracker box is VERY impressive!

  31. Ive been doing great with Star Wars and super heroes, which is my main focus. It's all about waiting for the good discount. These are iconic characters for the most part and will always be somewhat popular. And there's always another Timmy joining the fandom every day whose eyes light up when they see sets from a few years ago that they must have.

  32. They are a lame duck...With the exception of a few special sets or sets that are bought at extremely discounted prices, the STAR WARS theme is done as an investment. Until LEGO and Disney part ways, there will be an overproduction of STAR WARS sets that cost too much and differ very little from predecessors.

  33. When I was a kid, there was 3 years between Star Wars films, and we got around 20-30 new Star Wars figures between films. We also were willing to go to the theater several months after release to view it again, because Star Wars could stay in the theaters for a year or more. With the PT, we still had 3 years between each one, but the toys had increased exponentially. Having 1 a year has really cut down on anticipation. The large amount of sets and such has really cut into things too. Brickheadz, buildable figures, micro fighters, 4 releases of sets a year as well as multiple UCS per year that don't have a set life cycle are eating away at the urgency that people once possessed. Plus, the average cost per wave has been going up. Not only are the individual sets more expensive for their size than previously, but also, the lower cost sets have been pushed aside for a higher percentage of larger sets with the slack being made up with the offshoot brands. I think a part of the malaise is also due to the over-diversification. Hasbro has a number of lines releasing the same figures in different scales, Lego is releasing Star Wars in 5 different styles. We're getting away from the core of what makes the series collectible. People who were completionists are now forced to make a decision about which of the lines are most important and some are just throwing up their hands in disgust. Where I might have bought every set from a given release cycle, I am now being much more selective. Some sets will only make it into my personal collection if I spot them heavily discounted.

  34. I completely stopped buying Star Wars sets for reselling. Too much competition. Too many resellers being okay with crumbs for profit. Even at 40-50% discount it's still a struggle to sell.

  38. if i was a kid getting one of these “blind bags” i would be extremely disappointed if i got the lame policeman figure. we’re doing children a favor by removing it from the box for them! i’ve been able to disarm 2 boxes and make them safe for the kids already, and i hope to find more before they ruin a child’s day.

  41. 20 minutes before closing at Target I nicely asked an employee to see if any were in the back. She had no idea how to find anything in the stock room. Manager up front talked her through it via headset. She comes back with a handful. I’m thinking the rest are still back there and she doesn’t know what she’s doing..... And there’s no way a police officer is in the tiny group. Wrong and wrong. The first one I pick up is the officer Woo hoo! I fly through the rest and start laughing bc I realize it must have been an employee’s stash of one of each character including the officer. And the last was another officer.

  42. Had a Target employee pull a box from the stockroom today. When he came back, the seal on the right was intact, but the left seal was cut and the bags in that row were askew. Me thinks there's a Brickpicker working at my local Target's stockroom.

  44. March 30, 2018. This is a date that will forever be remembered. I can get a little emotional at times. As an adult, there are a few instances when I've shed a tear. I cried when my son was born. I cried again a year later when my daughter was born. I cried tears of joy when my beloved Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl 31 after three decades of mediocrity, and again when they won Super Bowl 45. The last time I cried was two years ago this April when my Mom passed away. March 30, 2018. Today is another day that I've sobbed like a baby. Upon waking up for work, I checked my phone like I always do. Waiting for me was a PayPal notification. A large one. I checked my Bricklink account, and it appears that some blessed soul has decided that they needed some Steam Rollers in their life. Yes, some Steam Rollers. All of them. 27 to be exact. Gone. Purchased by an unknown person. A risk taker. A gambler. A guardian angel, perhaps? I began this saga with over 50 of those Steam Rollers. I'd sell one here, one there through multiple platforms, slowly chipping away at that number. I whittled it down to 27. Now I have 0. They are gone. The purchase price was just a shade over $1k. I'll make a few bucks on each one after the usual fees and shipping, but that's not the point in this circumstance. The nightmare is finally over. March 30, 2018 is my Independance Day.
