  1. my thoughts on star wars: my older brother was born in 1977, i was born in 1980, and my little brother came in 1983, the same years the star wars movies came out. we watched the 3 originals countless times growing up and had the lunchboxes, toys, backpacks, halloween costumes, pajamas, etc. it was fun to pretend to be our heroes from the movies and go on adventures and wonder what kind of awesome adventures the “real” luke, han & chewie had after the movies ended. 30 years later, disney buys star wars and announces a new trilogy starring our old heroes. great! this will be so cool! i go see the force awakens, and find out han solo was a deadbeat dad and has gone back to being a lowlife smuggler even when a new evil power is out terrorizing the galaxy again. he dies, and leia ignores chewie. there’s another easily defeated death star. ok, i guess i can get past all that stuff i didn’t like. looks like this new star wars is still going to be overall pretty good. seeing the falcon zooming around again was extremely cool. i like the new characters so far, i like the look of kylo ren. the last jedi comes out. i see it opening night. luke skywalker tosses his lightsaber over his shoulder. what the hell. he’s a grumpy hermit. he trashed his xwing. he ditched his friends, his family, and even his droids. he’s a jerk to this nice girl wanting to learn about the force. he tried to kill his nephew because he thought maybe he might turn evil!? what the freakin crap is this!? i hate this! they have ruined his character! i would be able to get past all the other ridiculous garbage in this movie such as the moronic phone call between hux and poe, the amateur green screen mary poppins in space, chewie the now useless pet dog eating a cgi owl, pod racing horses on a planet with only human looking aliens, a fake salt covered hoth planet...agggh so much crap in one film! oh yeah they also find time to kill off admiral akbar for no reason, and not kill off leia even though carrie fischer was already dead, and got rid of kylo rens helmet, so he can look weaker. and phasma! ha i forgot how useless she was in both movies! oh man what a flaming pile of garbage. and luke just dissapears while sitting on a rock! boooooooooo!

  2. March 30, 2018. This is a date that will forever be remembered. I can get a little emotional at times. As an adult, there are a few instances when I've shed a tear. I cried when my son was born. I cried again a year later when my daughter was born. I cried tears of joy when my beloved Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl 31 after three decades of mediocrity, and again when they won Super Bowl 45. The last time I cried was two years ago this April when my Mom passed away. March 30, 2018. Today is another day that I've sobbed like a baby. Upon waking up for work, I checked my phone like I always do. Waiting for me was a PayPal notification. A large one. I checked my Bricklink account, and it appears that some blessed soul has decided that they needed some Steam Rollers in their life. Yes, some Steam Rollers. All of them. 27 to be exact. Gone. Purchased by an unknown person. A risk taker. A gambler. A guardian angel, perhaps? I began this saga with over 50 of those Steam Rollers. I'd sell one here, one there through multiple platforms, slowly chipping away at that number. I whittled it down to 27. Now I have 0. They are gone. The purchase price was just a shade over $1k. I'll make a few bucks on each one after the usual fees and shipping, but that's not the point in this circumstance. The nightmare is finally over. March 30, 2018 is my Independance Day.

  4. That was a great scene...right after Luke and Leia teamed up with Rey and all three of them used lightsabers and force powers to fight off those force-sensitive Knights of Ren.

  5. I liked when Luke piloted his Xwing one last time as Han piloted the Falcon.

  6. Here's an idea, Luke takes the lightsabre, looks at it, looks at Rey, and then says "let's get to work" just as this kicks in and we get an old school training montage and however much time you need to pass, passes.

  7. Bought on BrickLink: 40290 60 Years of the LEGO Brick, $37.24 Shipped, did not want to spend $125 to get this free set. 5005358 Minifigure Factory, $21.48 Shipped, did not want to spend $75 to get this free set. In my mind I saved $140 on things I do not really need from the Lego Store or SAH by buying these sets for ~ $60 separately and not need needing to spending $200 to get them otherwise.

  8. I feel this Black Card VIP program is similar to the Last Jedi. Sounded good until we saw the actual implementation. Lego took a page out of Rian Johnsonson's playbook and trolled everyone.

  12. When I first saw the movie, the scene when she gets blown out into space had a pretty good emotional impact. I remember thinking , "this is how she goes?!?!", because they did discuss after her death that nothing really needed to change and the story still worked. I thought that they really took a chance by killing her so suddenly. Then they completely undercut the impact of that scene with the Mary Poppins thing.

  13. Not to be disrespectful to Carrie Fischer, but the Mary Poppins scene should have never happened and she should have just died when thrown into space. Let's face it, Harrison Ford/Han Solo was always the best of the bunch and when he died, my interest in watching the older characters diminished. I enjoyed Luke's last battle and really could care less about Leia. Time to move on to the new characters in my opinion.

  14. How is that a shitty thing to say? He simply stated they had time to fix (Id use the word address) the Leia situation. I didn't read anything else into it. I'm, not sure how you did. Another thing... Whether you enjoyed the film or not, Did anyone think the Mary Poppins scene was... awesome? Good? Totally plausible? Needed to be kept in? Didn't need to be adjusted?

  15. sold 2 series 18 policemen for $33 each and 27 ultimate batmobile polybags for $200. got the polys last week at tru. a few weeks ago i found 9 of them at a different tru and the cashier was hassling me about buying them all. this was about 2 days before they officially announced they were closing all stores. i sold those in lots of 3 for $28 each pretty quickly. when i found these 27 the other day i planned on selling them the same way, in lots of 3, but i figured i’d try out a huge lot first to see if it would sell. buyer is in singapore.

  17. I don't know how folks make the little people with the symbols like that, but I seriously lol'd in my office when I saw that one. But seriously, I'm calling Lego about this if there ends up being nothing for card holders. (I'm still laughing btw)

  18. Lame characters. Yep. Funny, the one character I like (Rey) and her Buildable Figure is basically worthless. Go figure. That's hot!

  20. In my opinion, TLJ's biggest problem is that it takes place right after TFA ends, with no time jump. If there had been a time jump, then maybe the passage of time could have justified some of the characters' choices and explained away some of their behaviour. As it is though, you have a bunch of people whose characters change completely in the space of several hours and who seemingly forget momentous events that happened mere hours ago. Admittedly, as someone stated above, it would have been difficult to have a time jump given how TFA ends. Difficult, but not impossible. I just don't think they tried hard enough to work around that limitation.

  21. The TRU I go to has sets from 40-75% off. Most are cleaned out, but managed to grab these today. Will probably take a while for your stores to go from 5% to 50%.

  22. When I was a kid, there was 3 years between Star Wars films, and we got around 20-30 new Star Wars figures between films. We also were willing to go to the theater several months after release to view it again, because Star Wars could stay in the theaters for a year or more. With the PT, we still had 3 years between each one, but the toys had increased exponentially. Having 1 a year has really cut down on anticipation. The large amount of sets and such has really cut into things too. Brickheadz, buildable figures, micro fighters, 4 releases of sets a year as well as multiple UCS per year that don't have a set life cycle are eating away at the urgency that people once possessed. Plus, the average cost per wave has been going up. Not only are the individual sets more expensive for their size than previously, but also, the lower cost sets have been pushed aside for a higher percentage of larger sets with the slack being made up with the offshoot brands. I think a part of the malaise is also due to the over-diversification. Hasbro has a number of lines releasing the same figures in different scales, Lego is releasing Star Wars in 5 different styles. We're getting away from the core of what makes the series collectible. People who were completionists are now forced to make a decision about which of the lines are most important and some are just throwing up their hands in disgust. Where I might have bought every set from a given release cycle, I am now being much more selective. Some sets will only make it into my personal collection if I spot them heavily discounted.

  23. Went to a couple TRU in Denver this week and 5% is all they are offering. And the Lego shelves were mostly bare. The psychology of a going out of business sale seems to be overtaking people's ability to comparison shop. WM and Amazon have better deals. Sent from my SM-G950U using Brickpicker Forum mobile app

  29. Didn't even realize this was out. Saw the posts yesterday so decided to go to Target after work, wasn't expecting much. Found a mostly full box of series 18, was sorta hidden, not in the lego area. But thought the policeman was already gone, as I saw signs of smooshing. But luckily, 3rd for back on left side there was a policeman. Bought 8 others as I smooshed the whole box while I was there... some folks looked at me funny. Thanks for the heads up guys.

  30. No that was a metphor for them throwing away the Star wars we loved and replacing it with some sad husk which I hope is cancelled for its own sake.

  31. My single biggest complaint is that whoever decided to completely butcher Poe Dameron's character in TLJ should be taken out back and kicked in the head. How can you take the 'hero' of TFA and make him a completely untrusted loose cannon in TLJ? That makes no sense.... not only did they not tell him about the escape plan because the purple haired woman decided she didn't trust him (except that she's Leia's buddy from years ago and Leia trusted Poe more than any of the other rebel pilots) but there are thousands of people evacuating and he doesn't notice or figure it out? GMAFB. It's inconsistencies like this that kill TLJ for me (Poe was my biggest peeve, but there are a pile more)... It was Star Wars, there was lots to enjoy, but tell a consistent story or GTFO and go direct some crappy made-for-TV movies.

  34. Thinking about this, it makes 4 high profile remakes or re-releases in 18 months time? Falcon, Taj, snowspeeder, and Y-Wing. Am I missing anything? Not to mention 3 current UCS sets that are remakes. Not very ultimate of them.

  35. This one just had more than its share of bad moments without enough good ones to balance them out. I think one reason why this will not live on in people's hearts is there was no great action or iconic moments that demand repeat viewings. We barely see any space dogfighting but get more time on slow moving bombers or escape pods. The fight with the red guards was kind of cool but seemed anti-climactic coming after Snoke bought it and the fan in me wondered why neither of them are using any force powers in that fight. The Crait showdown was lame with again hardly any dogfighting but just the Falcon leading Ties away and Rose sabotaging Finn's long drive to nowhere. As cool as the Luke-Kylo sequence is if you appreciate the idea of it, it's still over fast with very little fighting. More time was spent getting Luke from the cave to outside then in actual combat. The less sais about the casino horses the better. Far inferior to the pod race. There is nothing in here that ranks with the trench run, either of the Luke-Vader fights from Empire or Jedi, no big space battle or into the Death Star scenes like in Jedi, Phantom Menace or Revenge, and no ground battle worthy of Empire or Attack of the Clones. My then 6 year old son would watch the Geonosis battle every weekend for a year. There's nothing here I NEED to see again.
