For the few who may be interested, the Disney store (www.shopdisney.com) is having 20% off sale with code SAVE20 and free shipping with code SHIPMAGIC - both codes worked for the Disney Castle set 71040 (limit 1). Email says the promotion goes through 2359 PST March 28th, but I think this may be an error that will be corrected shortly.13 points

Finished 10257 Carousel yesterday. Nice build and displays so wonderfully. Noted one issue though, the frog build was a little awkward because the legs would react accordingly. The frog would "jump" up but when going back down the legs would slide back the it wouldn't function right afterwards. I ended up having to put a little sticky tac under the feet to keep them in place and that did the trick. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this one.6 points

I truly believe another toy chain with physical stores will eventually surface.6 points

Ok, incoming bad jokes: Is that $30 million at RRP or did they add the "above retail TRU tax"? I heard 50% of the $30 million owed is coming from Jyn Erso buildables. The amount owed was much less before but too many re-sellers returned those Bricktober mini-modulars. The amount owed would have been less but TRU misplaced a bunch of polybags inside Megablox tubes. TRU said they will be fine to pay because they already started selling 2019 sets ahead of launch.4 points

If you feel it seems likely (and it sounds like you do), I would apologize, and let the buyer know that you are open to whatever works best for them. If it were a very inexpensive item, I would let them keep it, and send out a replacement - If it has value, I would ship out the replacement one as soon as the tracking for the return showed it was picked up.3 points

I don't see why TRU has a problem with this guy. He learned this technique from them. Check the TRU warehouses, they have millions of dollars of products they haven't paid for either.2 points

Customer Service by phone starts at 8 AM EST and when I called on Sunday morning they already were experiencing a higher than normal call volume. So I arranged for the call back option and was called back within about 5 minutes. I was asking about an order placed on March 17 that hadn't shipped and had gotten the dreaded "if it doesn't ship by 4/25/18 it will be cancelled" email. The representative I spoke with basically confirmed that it was expected to ship this week, but they've been swamped with orders. Maybe people might want to consider using some of their discount gc savings to bump up their shipping priority.2 points

We can make it a huge warehouse-style layout and call it "The Incredible Circuit-Media-Toy Radio Shack R' Us Play City Universe"2 points

Agree. TRU was killed primarily by the debt Mitt Romney's Bain Capital saddled them with. Without that they ran at a profit. There is still a place for a profitable brick and mortar toy chain in America.2 points

Since its a slow news day... Target has a few sets on sale in-store including Green Mech Dragon for 31.99 and Cargo Terminal for 54.39. Too bad LEGO is once again excluded from the 10/50 25/100 deal.1522094494091 Sent from my LG-M153 using Brickpicker Forum mobile app1 point

Same reason we keep lending that one cousin money even though he had to borrow some last month and he’s using your old work car because his broke down. He will get his act together some day soon and then he will pay you back twice what he owes you, promise! And he will mow your lawn all summer and shovel the driveway in the winter!1 point

Mattel's amount makes Lego's look like pocket change. Why on earth did Mattel and Hasbro extend TRU that large of a credit limit. I work in finance for a medium sized company and our customers have hard credit limits. When they hit their limit they are cut off. You need more product? Sucks to be you. Pay us our money to get under your limit and you get more product.1 point

Thank you for this! I just pulled the trigger on this! ...And my wallet is going to regret this...1 point

It's a MOC made partially with pieces from 4483 AT-AT (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=4483-1#T=S&O={"ss":"US","rpp":"500","iconly":0}) Why? Because the Sand Blue pieces are unique to that set, and the Light Bluish Grey 1x4 brick with slot also likely comes from there, but the Flat Silver plates with Teeth are not in that set.1 point

Amazon is fair, but even that is decreasing. TRU was like "screw off" to us and many other Mom and Pop sites. Target and eBay are now going the TRU route with affiliate advertising. Watch them tank as well.1 point

As silly as it sounds turn it around 180 so the New york tile faces away from you then switch flat iron 180. Finally switch the chrysler and ESB bases around. Displaying backwards is probably easier than a complete rebuild1 point

or maybe just to the VIP Black card holders as their exclusive promotion .1 point

No one really knows. I was on an online chat with TRU.com. The rep stated to me that TRU.com expected to fill orders already placed on TRU.com. When I asked about new orders that I planned to place over the weekend, the rep stated to me that TRU.com also expected to fill those orders. In both cases, the rep said that while he expected that TRU,com would fulfill these orders, he could not guarantee that. When I asked about the delays in the orders I already placed, the rep said that TRU.com was working with Lego to obtain these sets. In other words, it appeared to me that some of these larger Lego sets that were available for order on TRU.com were not in TRU's warehouses. Given the dispute between Lego and TRU, I am not sure how successful TRU would be in obtaining these larger popular sets to fulfill customer orders if TRU was not already in possession of these larger popular sets. As a result of this online chat, I am planning to spend my remaining GCs and MCs in TRU retail stores on Lego sets that are not my first choices, as my first choices are available online only and not in the retail stores. I don't want to end up in a situation where after several weeks, TRU.com cancels my orders and my TRU GCs and MCs are in limbo. Even if they refund my GCs and MCs, it may be so late where there will not be many attractive items left at the retail stores. As a parent of two kids, I had over $1,500 of GCs and MCs after last Christmas. I would love to hear any info from others regarding TRU.com and the use of MCs on TRU.com.1 point

Once I got a gift card on Raise and the balance went to zero before I used it all. I called them and they refunded me the right amount. I was pleased with the customer service. I have never used cardpool though.1 point

You do have another option. Just call the CC company and have them do a charge-back if all else fails.1 point

My wife just told me that we got a letter today from the Toys R Us credit card and they upped my credit limit. At least I have that going for me!1 point

Well, that was sad. Went to Toys R Us at opening. Line of 50 people steaming in as I pulled up. Signs up “up to 30% off” but shelf tags saying 10%. 5% for all building toys (LEGO and Mega). People were swarming. Carts full. The Toys R Us employee I talked to said, just the way people were acting he felt like they’d be cleaned out by tonight. I feel for the employees. They still want to do a good job. They still want to help. Feels like they’ve hit the acceptance phase of mourning.1 point

^Instead of brick and mortar, it looks like future LEGO stores might be made out of Jyn Erso constraction sets.1 point
