I guess you can polish a turd and it ends up being white and blue. That thing is ugly, whether it matches the film or not. To me the MF will always be the fastest hunk of junk.3 points

Went into local Lego store today looking to buy my first Saturn V to get the dog and 60th anniversary promo. Decided to beat the crowds and get there early. Instead of getting the Saturn V, I walked out with the below. All at half price with the exception of the BrickHeadz. All boxes were minty with the exception of one hover tank which I will use for parts since I needed the mini figure. Had to do three trips. Already flipped two of the year of the dog promos for £25 each. Will be popping down again first thing tomorrow since they said that any returns will immediately be put out first thing in morning and offered at 50% off.3 points

Winter train will definitely come back - all winter sets are three years long on the market.1 point

If it does make the 50% sale it will simply be because o a little bit of left over stock. It's not a turd that will need discounting for it to clear. I would have thought better to wait for some good 3for2 deals toward November, target buying for DB should be £65 imo1 point

I read all the Harry Potter books for my (now nearly 12 years old) son when he was a bit younger and he loved it. Will read the complete series of books to my daughter when she's reached the right age for it as well. There's something magical about the Harry Potter books that transcends other book-series aimed at the same age-range, which keeps new children get into the HP stories and mythology. With that said, I foresee another homerun for LEGO regarding these HP LEGO set remakes.1 point

This looks great - At first, I thought that the minifigs looked a bit off (that they all looked a bit too babyish/cartoony) - but now that I realize that they are portraying them when they were small kids, it makes lots of sense. For those worrying about the old set values. The HP theme is mostly immune from the great damage that remakes cause. There will be some impact on specific previously exclusive minifigs, but not too much. And certainly some hoarders of the old sets will look to get out (which will have some effect) - but it won't be lasting damage. Plus, the renewed interest in the theme will absolutely help the older sets/minifigs.1 point

Pretty sure that 7 Books, 1 Play, 8 Movies + 2 Prequels and another planned, AND dedicated theme park aren't making the franchise any money at all.1 point

Considering the enormity of Hogwarts, I would wonder what other future set designs to be released that could also be connected to this starting point aside from the mentioned Whomping Willow. Only feature I find needlessly included is the rather small Basilisk. A creature of Leviathan proportions yet what is here being closer to a nigh matured hatchling of such a beast. Its inclusion as part of the build feels like somewhat of an afterthought. I believe so. You can see this part featured in some of the new Disney sets coming out this year. To add the sorting hat gets its own mold, a new rat piece I think (with different shaping and also printing) and the genie's lamp utensil now in white.1 point

I am actually seeing many other pieces that look new to me. candles...triangle roof pieces. lantern ???1 point

These pics even better than the HP 2018 thread. Am I blind? Where is Fawkes? Basilisk is a little lame seeing it here. Just noticed they gave the students short legs. Not sure how I feel about that yet, though it makes little difference. I think one of the best things about this update is the wands are actually wands, not bars. FTW, Lego.1 point

It´s early days but I reckon swapping Nexo and SH girls for HP and JW was a winning move.1 point

The description says you can link it with another set - 75953 Whomping Willow, so it´s basically Rancor Pit for Potterites.1 point

Note the bricks with holes on the side. I'm guessing other sets are going to connect to make a larger castle. In other words: YEAH BABY!! Edit:only now see the description which mentions this fact. No further guessing required. Day one purchase here ....1 point

Toys R US online has 21309 for $119.99. Not sure if that's more indicative of current supply in the market or Toys R US coming to their senses with some of their financial issues.1 point

No, I don’t think that. I do think that they’ll do okay after retirement. It might take time though. How well? I have no idea......I guess I’m optimistic. It’s no Exosuit, I can tell you that.1 point

But look at BTTF now. I WISH I would have bought more than the two I picked up. I sold both over a year ago for $100 cash via CL. These WoN will just be a long term hold. I only have two anyway, so I’m not worried about funds being tied up. If I had a warehouse full, I might be singing a different tune.1 point
