If she really values someone with complete understanding of SW mythology, she should have asked Dave Filoni (co-creator of CW & Rebels) instead I can't agree with this more. D&D are good at extracting major components of EXISTING story, reorganizing and translating them to a different medium (TV). Once the source materials are depleted (in terms of quantity and quality, sorry GRRM), (huge) gaps appear in their final product (GoT). Whereas someone like Filoni took elements of the original mythology (SW) and weaved those into his original ideas (Rebels). This made the series feel and look like part of this grand universe while presenting his own fresh ideas and storylines.3 points

Technically they did trusted Filoni with more as he was promoted to head of animation development or something of that sort. His weakness is he does not have experience directing outside animation. But they could/should have given him chance to produce and write a live action movie or two. As far as D&D, you are right. There is a big catalog of legacy stuffs for them to translate to big screen. They would be great at making a movie trilogy based on the old KotOR 1&2 PC games + comic, for example2 points

Not by me. Too early, and I reckon it’ll be cheaper. Definitely one I’ll be hoarding when the right deal comes up though ? I’ve got a load of the little mini ones to throw a couple in with each sale, they look pretty cute together!1 point

Since the older stuff has remained untouched in the new canon, and there's tons of old stuff in Legends...maybe that's what they're going to do? I think you might be on to something. Maybe the plan is to do the really old Jedi stuff, and adapt all that to the big screen? I do agree with you about Filoni. Guy knows his Star Wars stuff, and the guy has great storytelling skills. It's a shame they won't trust him with more.1 point

It's not really that bad though. Dutch RRP is €169,99. That's including 21% BTW (VAT). The US RRP is $159.99 excluding sales tax. So to compare apples with apples, we should deduct BTW from the Dutch price and then convert it to US$. Dutch RRP excluding VAT is €140.49. According to Google €140.49 = US$ 171.97. So the Dutch price of $ 171.97 is higher than the US price of $ 159.99 but the difference is not that dramatic. We are terribly lucky though that the RRP of Destiny's Bounty is set significantly lower in the UK, so we can get it through Amazon UK much cheaper than at home.1 point

Was tempted to do similar but just don't have enough faith in those Ninjago sets. City Chase seems the best, though, based on contents. I picked up Ninjago sets for me and also a few battle packs and batman minifigs, as well as baseplates and some Cars sets.1 point

Here is a 6 month update for those that were curious. The ship has weathered quite nicely. The only thing I'm worried about is the sails, they look great now, but I don't know about long term. It has not been a maintenance nightmare, as a matter of fact, our cleaner fish and snails do an excellent job!! We get more comments on this display than any of our other displays....people love it!!! I'll post a one year update just for sh*ts and giggles.1 point

Finished this up last week - hands down one of favorite sets, both in terms of the building process as well as the final result. If you are on the fence at all, I highly recommend it! It would be nice if LEGO put out a descent small sail boat to go with this - I have some of the recent Fishing Boats stored away, but somehow one of those just doesn't seem to do this set justice...1 point

I realized I've only been sorting bulk and laying out pieces for sets to see what I'm missing without building any sets for months, so I pulled out the pieces for 6278. Along with my pirate ships, this was one of the largest sets I owned in my childhood. I used to make stop motion videos of the islanders against the pirates using a camera that weighed about 10 pounds. There's a VHS tape around somewhere with what could become The LEGO Pirates Movie. I will need to work on the special effects, though.1 point

I went for it.....cracked open one of my Tower Bridges and built the alternate build designed by Lee Inyong. It's a good looking modular, but if you look closely, you can see where he obviously was limited on pieces. For example, the most obvious is the sidewalk not being done in tiles. I am going to tweek the streetscape a little to better flow with my other modulars. There are also some very delicate components as you get deep into the build which add a bit of a challenge. But overall.....I think he did a pretty darn good job at making the most out of what he was provided. Made good use out of one of my shelf-warmers.....1 point

Finally got around to building 70615 Fire Mech. For me it was a must-buy since I saw the first picture of it leaking. So I really was anticipating the build. To make it short: the set didn't disappoint, in fact it's awesome. The mech is quite big, definitely not feeling small at all. The poseability is good enough for my liking. The only critique I have would be the amount of stickers in the set, especially a few larger ones which are more difficult to apply in my opinion. For the picture I mixed in some 70607 Ninjago City Chase as background scenery, and left a few selected minifigs out.1 point

Yeah! Egghead is here! Decided to jump on a price match to Walmart and used a 20% off gift card, so Egghead was $19.20. I had to build him before@Alpinemaps had the chance, so here he is. Cool set and Condiment King is a nice bonus.1 point
