What could be better than a giant failing retail mascot blown up to monstrous size, chasing two children? So much scarier than any Halloween set. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker Forum mobile app3 points

Some of you are so paranoid. Just ship it. I make so much off 0 feedback buyers without the slightest issue. Occasionally a buyer simply wants something and gets it. Not everyone is a coupon stacking mega haggling deal hound like us, let alone dishonest!2 points

It’s a tough gig mate. I would rethink your decision to get into this.2 points

Just a quick shout out to the ebay sellers who miss a digit in their listings (6.95 instead of 69.95, etc) - yet still honor the deal (without questioning), while also packing well & shipping quickly.2 points

Looks like the Black Seas Barracuda from the 60 Years of the Brick promo fits quite well inside the bottle, by just removing the top of the masts (with the flags): source: http://zusammengebaut.com/lego-ideas-schiff-in-der-flasche-mit-mini-barracuda-auf-dem-weg-nach-braunschweig-43515/2 points

Gold appreciating due to inflation is a bit of meme. It is actually currency crisis and the lack of confidence In $$$'s that really moves gold. I think the near triple in price last decade was a pretty good run, and the six bagger into 2011 for a useless rock that doesn't pay interest was right up there with the run in the 70's. Not quite steller, but damn good. I have long suspected that Bitcoin siphoned off major safe haven flows that would have gone to gold, which goes along way to explaining its performance the last half decade. It will be US dollar strength that really dictates where gold goes. If it strengthens I expect one more final smash and long term bottom, then rocket ride to the moon. I've long said the biggest bubble of them all is Govt bonds, all levels, all nations. Interest rates moving up is sign that pig is just about to get slaughtered.1 point

I think the issue with new sellers getting accepted on Bricklink was lack of feedback. So if you re looking to sell there, you may want to build some feedback with some purchases. I had no issue starting up my store but also had about 300 feedback previously from buying over the years. I have been very happy with sales there but I'm focused on figures and their accessories vs. selling a lot of sets. I do have sets listed, but they make up only a small fraction of total sales made. Bricklink will sell your set eventually, but like was said, will take time unless you are undercutting everyone. Obviously there is ebay, but just read the fruitcakes thread to see what lies waiting there. I have had very little issue with ebay over the years, but others have been much less fortunate. I have only had one true scam attempt, and it was on a sports card years ago, not even lego. Best of luck getting started, it's not really the best climate right now to get going but who am I to tell someone not to do something?1 point

Bricklink is a nice platform. Have you opened a store yet? I believe some users are having trouble opening new stores right now, at least in the US. Anyway, its very user friendly and has low fees; the flip side is that it has the lowest exposure. Stuff can take awhile to move there, and you'll be competing with stores that already have good followings. But, if you're not in a rush, its a good option. As long as there is demand for the set, then it will eventually sell, especially if you're just aiming for RRP.1 point

Yes, you are on the limit of a safe buy-in price. Another element to consider is there will be a new Technic flagship crane in the summer you this may affect demand.1 point

Depends on your location and selling venue. But here it is selling for 300+ euro. So I would say... buy buy buy!1 point

Was hunting around for Star Wars sets during Christmas. Going to stores only to return empty handed. In any case, a kindred soul at the Target mentioned I should check out brickpicker.com....actually thought it was a store. But, after a quick google search to see what it was about and lurking here for over a month and a half, I decided to join. So, here I am... Hello Brickpicker.com world!1 point

The classic Castle theme is the same as your childhood's favourite chocolate. You have fond memories, but when you try it again as an adult, you recognise that it is just industrial waste, and don't want it again. Translating this analogy to LEGO, the classic Castle/Pirates/Space themes are very outdated by today's standards, and people realise this quite quickly. Time has moved on, and what was considered great back then is lacklustre now. What people really want is going back in time and relive memories, but exactly the purchase of these sets makes them realise that it will not happen, it is a fool's hope, and just makes them feel old. To cope with growing up, people are looking for fresh things. No wonder LEGO is at its best when it feels fresh, that is what people really want.1 point

Disney needs to be worried about over-saturation. With a new movie every year people are going to tire of it especially if the audience is divided about the quality of the product they are putting out there as it was with TLJ. From a toy perspective a lot of the TFA and TLJ vehicles, sets, and characters are bland and uninspiring. One of the prequels few strengths was it's colorful and unique designs which carried over into the Clone Wars. We aren't seeing that with the new trilogy.1 point

At this point, I think they need to go back to cutting back on what they release. There are too many sets. Remember when it was just two good waves per year? They need to go back to that. Just looking at the force friday 2 and winter wave for this year, they could have completely cut out the Transport Pod, the Assault Walker, the Bomber, the half built AT-ST, the Cantina, and the two combined microfighter packs. While some of the minifigures in those sets are nice, they could have beefed those into other sets, or did a little stronger on the battle packs. Right now, they need to have a less is more approach to this theme. So many of the sets I listed above are just not that interesting and i'm not going to spend 50.00 on a set just because of 2 minifigures.1 point

Found this comment on Rebelscum a bit interesting: "German LEGO fan site zusammengebaut.com reports that LEGO noted that the popularity of their Star Wars theme had peaked (when?) and that sales were declining. In their live blog of the LEGO press conference, the field reporter from zusammengebaut.com noted that the mood from LEGO was glum." http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/LEGO_Nuremburg_Toy_Fair_Reveals_178467.asp -------------------- Personally, I think this is an accurate assessment. I think the Star Wars theme is tumbling towards rock bottom (and hasn't reached it yet), but it's heading there and quickly. I don't blame this strictly on Lego, but a lot of the blame should be placed on Disney's shoulders. It's just not Lego that is tumbling, but the Star Wars theme in general. I recently noticed the Toys R Us in my vicinity completely scaled back the Star Wars aisle, and marvel merchandise was combined with it. Basically the space was halved. I also noticed two targets in my area do the same thing. I personally didn't like the Last Jedi movie, and I don't think my son thinks too much about that film either since he doesn't seem to want anything from it, and still hasn't built the two sets from the theme he got from Christmas. Overall, looking at this year, I only have interest in picking up the Ach-to, Yoda's Hut, and all 4 battle packs (already picked up the Jawa version).. The Solo film sets i'm going to have a wait and see attitude with (I did pretty much the same for the Last Jedi), but I could see definitely picking up the speeder, but i have no interest in the new falcon other than maybe bricklinking minifigs a few years from now when prices bottom out on them. Overall, I don't see myself spending much money on Star Wars this year. It will probably be around 130 bucks at most. Not anything like previous years. I also feel the same way about the Marvel infinity sets (have zero interest other than bricklinking some figs). The Jurrassic World sets is probably going to get the most dollars from me this year. Anyway, can Star Wars recover? I don't know... i'm a bit of an old timer now with this theme, as we have a pretty solid collection but with rehashes, and sets based on movies that didn't inspire - well it will be hard pressed to want to go and buy every single set. At this point, I no longer just collect them all. If I had a 3 or 4 year old again, and wasn't around for the 2010-2015 era I could see myself anxiously awaiting the Sandcrawler, and X-wing, but at this point, it's hit the rehash and revision cycle and I dont know if it's enough to make me want to go out and buy those. The future of this theme gets bleaker with each wave reveal, i'm afraid to say.1 point

Here is a 6 month update for those that were curious. The ship has weathered quite nicely. The only thing I'm worried about is the sails, they look great now, but I don't know about long term. It has not been a maintenance nightmare, as a matter of fact, our cleaner fish and snails do an excellent job!! We get more comments on this display than any of our other displays....people love it!!! I'll post a one year update just for sh*ts and giggles.1 point

Ok guys, so I got a little more insight into this whole design. I went to the Signing event at the lego store in Salt Lake City, and had a chance to ask some question of the designer. (On top of getting my box signed.) I asked him why they nerfed it so much, and he said that his own design has some flaws and was extremely fragile, and had some seams that wouldn't work for stability purposes. He also admitted that there were some illegal techniques he used in his submission. So it started to make a little more sense why it's a bit different. So take it as you will, but this is coming directly from the Sadovich himself.1 point

Falcon is looking awkward, however there is quite a lot of minifigs and in case Han Solo movie is good (i doubt), it will be good set to have. Otherwise it is trash and I reliefed quite a lot with 75105s at home. I really like the new TIE and I will buy it definitely, maybe in more copies with right discount, even for my personal build. They really look like OT ones. Plus note, that there is Han Solo minifig in that set. The rest is trash, maybe new brickheadz will be good, I have not seen pics of them yet.1 point

Sellers haven't been able to leave negative feedback on eBay for years. Don't worry. Ask for a partial refund to cover the premium you paid, plus a 5% convenience fee, or send it back.1 point
