Was in local LEGO store today due to double VIP pts for Black Card holders. Was surprised to see an Assault on Hoth (last one in stock) still listed at $175. For double VIP pts, 60th anniversary set and 30% off, I'll do that. Imagine my surprise when it actually rang up for $140... score!7 points

Just a quick shout out to the ebay sellers who miss a digit in their listings (6.95 instead of 69.95, etc) - yet still honor the deal (without questioning), while also packing well & shipping quickly.3 points

The classic Castle theme is the same as your childhood's favourite chocolate. You have fond memories, but when you try it again as an adult, you recognise that it is just industrial waste, and don't want it again. Translating this analogy to LEGO, the classic Castle/Pirates/Space themes are very outdated by today's standards, and people realise this quite quickly. Time has moved on, and what was considered great back then is lacklustre now. What people really want is going back in time and relive memories, but exactly the purchase of these sets makes them realise that it will not happen, it is a fool's hope, and just makes them feel old. To cope with growing up, people are looking for fresh things. No wonder LEGO is at its best when it feels fresh, that is what people really want.2 points

Looks like the Black Seas Barracuda from the 60 Years of the Brick promo fits quite well inside the bottle, by just removing the top of the masts (with the flags): source: http://zusammengebaut.com/lego-ideas-schiff-in-der-flasche-mit-mini-barracuda-auf-dem-weg-nach-braunschweig-43515/2 points

The issue with Star Wars was described quite well. However there is no big issue with "rehashing" the sets. I was young in 90s, I remember those castles and pirate ships, which were repeating themseves quite often, looking not the same, but really close (so you can say it was like space ships from star wars). However, what really should lego do, is to stop trying to cowing money from **** ideas. You do not have to release "new" x-wing every year. Just do your f-ing homework, release some proper one in price range aroun 150-200USD, ith some "creator 3v1" sou you have a lot of extra pieces to rebuild it to other versions and keep it on shelves. For 2-3 years. And produce high quality low amount of sets instead of billion sets noone cares about. They just forgot their origins. Sets nowdays are quite boring and expensive. I have high expectations from this years Harry Potter sets, I hope they do not fail me.1 point

To be fair I've had this before with earlier promos and they always honoured it if 1p short, but required a phone call Whenever I've phoned Lego CS they've always been fairly reasonable. but getting amicable results by chat is harder and emailing lego CS is terrible. They take days to respond and replies take another while too, you also rarely get a good outcome on email.1 point

Hahahhahah. Of course you did. And of course I did. And this folks is why none of the other mods worry about the titles. They know I’ll obsess over it eventually.1 point

Just finished mine, and it's breathtaking. (27inch screen just behind for straight size comparison) I know it's an offtopic but regarding the Star Wars promo. I talked today to CS girl late afternoon and those people have really bad time right now because people on the executive positions made such stupid mistake with launching completely unprepared campaign (Black VIP cards) from top to the bottom. Majority of those folks there are in their early 20ties and whole day they are facing backlash because of Black VIP card fiasco and the fact that everyone in store will be able to get the 2x VIP for SW not just only the Black Card owners. So the story about exclusivity of owning the Black Card can rest between books on the top shelf atm. I feel genuinely sorry for those people.1 point

Intertoys is often selling LEGO with a mark-up to RRP. Compare from the picture: Detective's Office at €163,99 (RRP: €159,99) Brick Bank at €183,99 (RRP: €169,99) VW T1 Van at €109,99 (RRP: €99,99) Intertoys is the only nation-wide toy-store in The Netherlands, so they have a monopoly there. Of course there are some local toy stores selling LEGO as well, but they are limited to a regional presence at most. If you're not living in that region you're out of luck and limited to the ubiquitous Intertoys...1 point

The problem is the new film content is poor other than Rogue one perhaps if they did an old republic film or another decent TV series. The biggest problem I have is that the Sequel trilogy will never top the prequels for plot which is sad really.1 point

Disney needs to be worried about over-saturation. With a new movie every year people are going to tire of it especially if the audience is divided about the quality of the product they are putting out there as it was with TLJ. From a toy perspective a lot of the TFA and TLJ vehicles, sets, and characters are bland and uninspiring. One of the prequels few strengths was it's colorful and unique designs which carried over into the Clone Wars. We aren't seeing that with the new trilogy.1 point

Can see 50% off RRP via 3 for 2 later in the year. Also takes up a lot of space. Nows the time to put your wallet away. Next buying window will be end of March, assuming TRU still continue to do their giftcard promo. But given their recent troubles can see this easily being scrapped1 point

The most interesting thing is the back of the set Blue`s Helicopter Pursuit. There is a printed overview of all dinosaurs and in which set they are included. "Collect them all...and build your own hybrid" is the heading. Is there a possibility that customers have to purchase all sets to build some kind of kick ass dinosaur? That would be very interesting regarding the investment aspect.1 point

Greatest Lego set ever? Just sold one of my last few of these today, and I gotta say, no matter what the price, I feel like I'm going to regret selling them. I've only been in this game for about 3 years now, but still... I don't think any other set produced in the past 4 years compares to this one. It is nearly perfect in every way. It has great minifigs. It is an impressive, sturdy build. It looks great from all sides. It opens up for great play features, or alternate display. It is in and of itself complete. Sure it's part of a larger collection, but even standing alone, it doesn't really need anything else. Even at the current $375 - $390, it is a great value for the collector. If you don't have one yet, you really should get one. It is really one of the greatest Lego sets - maybe the greatest ever?1 point

For those who don't know how it works at tru : the quantity of any given item available for instore lookup is determined by each store's manager . The fact that it shows zero online doesn't alway indicate zero quantity on the shelf . just that it is below the threshold that the manager set or even choose not to offer it online all together .1 point

We hope it will be $200 once retired. Remember there are no guarantee's that this set will perform that well. While I think this set is a winner, I'm not positive we will see it get to $200, at least quickly. And it all depends how you define quickly. For some quickly is 12 months, for others it's 1 month. Time will tell with this set, but I agree it is a safe set to purchase as an investment, especially if you can find it in the $80-90 price range.1 point

Just playing devils advocate for one second, because I have heard this argument before. Unless you take the video, at UPS or the post office, seal it up and hand it over to the postal worker, that would be the maximum proof because you can't take the package back. If this is what you did, then bonus for you and I can see how this can be a good thing to do, especially with very valuable items. But if you take a video at your home, that doesn't mean its the actual package that gets shipped, so I am not sure if the video will help in all cases.1 point

Get an iphone or a cheap video camera. I videotape every single box I pack. About 2-3 years ago, a guy I shipped a $15,000 baseball card to (Eddie Mathews 1952 Topps, PSA 7) said I sent him a $5 card. I met with the police and provided the postmaster general with a copy of the video. Guess who is in jail or heavily fined for trying to commit mail fraud? That guy. Guess who saved $15,000 by taking a 2 minute video with his Canon Pure Shot camera? This guy.1 point
