  1. I'm sorry, but what sort of question is this? Since you say you are coming back, you must have had some method of determining what to invest in before. Do you really think serious people here are going to pre-chew this info for you so all you need to do is buy? I would suggest you spend some time the next few weeks reading the history in some of the key threads here and then working it out for yourself. I'm afraid this party is no longer accepting new guests without poneying up the membership fee.

  2. Phil in particular has gone out of his way putting together some great entry-level-primer posts. Just look up his history. But I’m with him 100%. Some of us have spent years sharing our insights & contributing to the community (and buying raffle tickets!). It’s borderline offensive to suggest we should just encapsulate it all in a single on-request reply.

  6. Finished this up last week - hands down one of favorite sets, both in terms of the building process as well as the final result. If you are on the fence at all, I highly recommend it! It would be nice if LEGO put out a descent small sail boat to go with this - I have some of the recent Fishing Boats stored away, but somehow one of those just doesn't seem to do this set justice...

  7. I realized I've only been sorting bulk and laying out pieces for sets to see what I'm missing without building any sets for months, so I pulled out the pieces for 6278. Along with my pirate ships, this was one of the largest sets I owned in my childhood. I used to make stop motion videos of the islanders against the pirates using a camera that weighed about 10 pounds. There's a VHS tape around somewhere with what could become The LEGO Pirates Movie. I will need to work on the special effects, though.

  10. Finally got to put together 21018 UN Headquarters, which I picked up for £10 from a charity shop a few months back. Used, but the box was mint so had every chance - happily it is complete with no yellowing and absolutely mint! Not my thing generally, but it looks rather good ??

  11. Tesco I am presuming ?? I flipped a Catamaran locally brought at that price but be careful with the weight of that if you are planning on selling on eBay it will fall into large parcel over 2kg. I passed on more and also the sports center as they were all over eBay at £30 with postage. 41312 will come good if you hold for a while as it is retired ?

  12. Looks like Target finally sold out.. VERY low seller count on EBay. If you don't have one and want one, you better hurry. They will be $300+ in no time.

  13. Amazon hasn’t helped certainly, but it’s PE all the way down for TRU. And they’re not the only ones. https://wolfstreet.com/2018/01/22/the-private-equity-firms-at-the-core-of-brick-mortar-retail-bankruptcies/ Toys ‘R’ Us shows how this was done: PE firms KKR, Vornado Realty Trust, and Bain Capital Partners acquired the publicly traded shares of Toys ‘R’ Us in an LBO in 2005. In 2004, Toys R Us had $2.2 billion in cash and short-term investments. By Q1 2017, this had collapsed to just $301 million. Over the same period, long-term debt surged from $2.3 billion to $5.2 billion. In other words, “cash minus debt” was -$112 million in 2004. By 2017, it had ballooned to -$4.9 billion. While the PE firms were busy extracting cash, the company, cash-strapped and focused on cost-cutting, failed to create an online presence that could compete with Amazon and others, didn’t successfully make the transition to electronic devices, video games, and apps, and let its physical stores deteriorate. It should have spent the last decade investing heavily in its future. Instead, it was forced to borrow large amounts of money just to enrich its PE-firm owners.

  16. If you want to have a giggle, look at the top sellers in Toys currently. I went via the seller app under Sell Products and found that both the #4 and #5 top selling products have been marked as Slow Moving ASIN. Surely that can't be right?

  17. Yes, things have changed. There’s now a seller verification step and nobody answers emails with queries as to status. I added inventory, set shipping rates, and (as far as I can tell according to the FAQ) met their requirements for new sellers but my store remains “closed” with no option to open it. 19. For people interested in just testing the waters without actually committing real money to it, you could try out this site: https://coinloop.io/ It's not an exchange, nor a crypto Wallet. It's just a Dashboard where you pick currencies, enter a certain amount, and let it track the value of it over time. This way you could virtually 'buy' certain crypto-currencies that you might have picked if you would have bought them for real, add them to your Dashboard portfolio, and then check every day how you would have done. It's not the first site to do this, but it's very easy and user friendly. Simple to create an account there and go.

  21. Especially because it wasn't easily available in the sale. In store only, apart from when it was TOOS online and became briefly available a few times. I managed to get one at 30% off, plus 7% cashback and VIP, so it should serve me well. I have another I bought a few months ago for £140 with a ruined box, so I'll probably build that one.

  23. I've noticed that the battle packs can do well if you get a nice low buy in and Sainsbury's often knock these out cheaply. Also noticed that 75054 At At is doing well. I picked one up in JL that must have been a return for £39.99. It's complete but the box has taken a beating. Torn between building or selling.

  24. The prices for these have already dropped precisely because every seller is panicking about the new set coming out, so they're all undercutting each other.

  26. Anyone else noticing the slow-moving ASIN bots are out and going crazy? E.g. Lego Parisian Restaurant rank sub 10k in toys is tagged as slow moving. A replen we sell that is rank 47 in health and personal care is tagged slow-moving. We can still FBA it even tho the seller app states it is ineligible for FBA as it is "overstocked" according to the bot. Hoping it is just an innocent glitch and not something more sinister going on behind the scenes which would be oh so Amazon.

  27. 75138 and 75135 off the top of my head. Like Phantom, 75142 was also a Smyths exclusive and is doing well. Granted that most sets are below RRP, but some breakout. 75170 has more chance than most.

  29. The problem isn’t trading crypto currency once you have some, it’s getting that money into an exchange to make your first purchase or buy more. Many people won’t be interested if they have to open a bank account in another country just to join in the fun of speculating. Some will also be skeptical if the exchanges are operating in that dark corner of the web... and they aren’t going to want the masses joining them either. It didn’t end too well for the last dark web destination that made a splash. In the end, you don’t need to regulate cryptos, you only need to regulate the banks in your country to prevent them from transferring money to/from the exchanges. As more do that, crypto loses its appeal to big business who can’t jump on the bandwagon and it loses steam as a viable alternative.

  30. I order tons of retired/out of stock/about to be retired type sets from Amazon (not 3P) when they come into stock 1 or 2 at a time. About 15% of the time I get a set with a Target security sticker, a Walmart online label, or a Barnes & Noble price tag still on it. I think they get their stuff and sellers inventory all mixed up and probably have lots of issues with Lego sets. I think a lot of comingled sellers aren't as careful with stuff like price tags and assume it won't matter since it gets mixed up with other peoples stuff.

  31. A correction on the bottom right (I'm sure it was just a typo), but it should be https://brickset.com/sets/9442-1 Jay's Storm Fighter Jet A quick primer on how I I use brickstock to i.d. stuff like this: load in a few of the unique pieces into an inventory list, and then highlight groups that I think belong together. The software then shows which sets have all of the pieces highlighted. It makes it much easier to ID the sets, although it helps to know the bricklink colors and names of the parts.
