  3. **SoCal Red Alert** The Geoffrey's Bargain Box TRU clearance outlet on La Palma in Buena Park marked the whole store down 50% this morning. They have a fairly large amount of Lego but set selection is limited. My friend got there first and arm swept the Technic (bucket excavators $115), the Caterham 7's ($30) and some others. I picked up some good part out sets (Ninjago, Nexo, Friends). Plenty left for the horde to scavenge.

  6. Opened "Clayface Splat Attack" to remove the Batman minifig that's going to be sold on ebay (one TLBM Batman is enough for my collection). Spontaneously decided to build the set. It's a nice build, and I like the parts selection. Stitch acts as a stand-in for Batman to save mayor McCaskill.

  7. Would really like the Lighthouse set, don't mind at all if it's similar to the Fishing Shop, they are amazing sets. Christmas Story is also one of the most overrated movies of all time. Now if they gave us the Griswold's house with the RV in the front, we'd be onto something.

  12. My faith in buying retired sets direct from Amazon is restored for now. 60102 City VIP Plane (441S7). 42048 Technic Go Kart (40S7) 21131 Ice Spikes (439S7) All recent productions and all in very good condition, apart from annoying barcode stickers on two of them.

  13. I think the book would work better than the maze if they are able to package a couple different "story" builds at the start. Maybe selling add-on packs would work but better to show what you can do day one.

  14. Maybe it's just me, but the sea themed Modulars are pretty neat and would make for a great series of sets IMO. They would be great in my shore house...if I had one.

  15. I finally built one of these. It cost me about $50, which I'm not entirely convinced was the right amount to spend on it. I kind of liked the overall construction. The Rathtars were a little cubey for my tastes, but once you have them lurking in doorways, they look ok. (Mainly because most of the body is hidden. Bala Tik and the Deathgang are nice to have. I like that you could potentially throw a few more sets together to make one enormous corridor. It's got a very modular setup allowing you to make your own custom play area. The hardest parts of the Rathtars to get would probably be the whips if you wanted to make more of your own. I've got another one of these sets sitting around and if I get bored enough someday, I might wind up with a big corridor. It's too bad that they put Han and Chewie in this set, only because it leaves the only unique characters in the Falcon Tasu Leech and the Kanjiklub guy. Speaking of, I kind of wish there were more Kanjiklub gang members (Those freaks?) I'm afraid that if anyone invested their money in these sets they'd have a hard time recouping the money. Just too expensive for a set that basically looks like nothing that was in the movie. open sides and narrow pathways makes it look more like a bridge than the inside of a ship. It's going to be hard to make anything on this investment. (Kanjiklub also wants their investment back.) Looking at them now I really do like the Guavian Death Gang minifigures. even though their masks remind me a great deal of an evil Target. What I really don't understand about this set is why a set that retailed for $79.99 gave almost every character a stud shooting weapon. Only Han gets a real blaster, Maybe it's because it is a playset instead of a vehicle or something collector oriented, but even kids have to know that stud shooters are dumb. (Tell that to Kanjiklub.)

  25. I would like to see the three RobenAnne creations released as a kind of secondary modular line, one per year. The Old Fishing Store was a fantastic build and it would be wonderful to have more sets to compliment it. My young kids loved playing with it more than any other set to date. Both of them were fascinated with all of the details and had fun creating scenes with it. The book is clever but would need significant polishing before release to be viable. The Jaguar is nicely done and seems to be the most likely to actually get selected, barring any licensing issues.

  27. Can't see any of these being made honestly. I like the 3 ocean style sets, but i doubt they will put out another large fishing style set. The others just don't seem desirable to me at all, maybe the Jag, but they don't seem to want to make ideas cars or something.

  29. I am a huge simpsons fan and have 15 of these stashed but even I am surprised because the set had a pretty abysmal sales rank and simpsons minifigures haven't been setting the world on fire. i think what has saved this set is all the trash-talking that went on about how the simpsons is a washed up theme/idea and came out during the general trend away from larger sets. with a decently low seller count, already outperforming other $200 turds like ToO, Tumbler and Red5. 100% focused on AFOL. I have a dozen bought with vip and promoms and last 3 with ebay bux to cushion to the blow. here's hoping we finally have a $200 set that makes it to 2x msrp besides TH. here's hoping its not another post -EOL reseller fueled short-lived bump.

  30. Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. It’s performed well on Amazon for the duration of its existence, and it’s never been more than Limit 1 in the Lego store. Ever. If it was such a poor seller, wouldn’t Lego have made it Limit 5 to get rid of them? Or put them on sale like the Batcave? I simply do not understand why people thought this set was such a bomb, and I have loads of them. I just wish I’d picked up more Kwik-E-Marts. The Simpsons is one of the most popular and enduring franchises in history, and is beloved all over the globe. Hell, there’s even an entire Simpsons theme park at Universal Studios Hollywood. This one was a no-brainer for me.

  39. She gets us. She just doesn't respect us and cares more about pushing Disney's NWO agenda. At least in TFA Poe was a cool guy and I really liked the camaraderie between the new characters. It was the best thing about that movie. They literally threw out everything good, cool and fun about Star Wars with TLJ.

  40. Rey still beats way more experienced people than her easily. In New Hope Luke is clearly shown out of his element in the dog fight. He needs Biggs, Wedge and Han to save him and while his one shot that he is already good at is guided by the Force, Rey is possessed by contrast. Mary Sue indeed. The First Order “plan” only worked because of a highly coincidental sell out by DJ. And mini hyperspace jumps are well established as being possible. Even if they wanted to avoid any danger. A bunch of ships could jump away, then jump back in front of them since they know where they will be. This plan was about as smart as Hitler letting the Brits escape Dunkirk. As you say, Luke is an old man and should not just be learning that failure is a teacher. He figured that out big time in Empire Strikes Back. i dislike how these movies have undone the progress of the main characters from the OT and put them where they were at the start. Leia running a rebel cel, Han smuggling, and Luke being a whiner. When we saw that Luke was exiled in Force Awakens and a glimmer of why, I don’t recall anyone being offended at the time. I’m sure most of us could imagine reasons why he would do that. I doubt many came up with curling up to die. We were likely expecting a plan like why Obi-wan and Yoda were hiding. Off he top of my head, Luke has a vision of the future of a powerful apprentice seeking him out and is waiting for it to come true. I applaud the effort to be different, especially after the Force Remakens, but being different is not a guarantee of being good. In this case the blemishes overwhelm the successes. There was much risk taking I enjoyed, but the whole does not hang together, especially with Luke.

  41. People who require memes to express themselves are probably the same people who like The Last Jedi. It’s a Disney Marvel movie with a dash of Spaceballs. If that’s your idea of a Star Wars movie.

  42. Tiresome and old? The movie came out 2 weeks ago. I have no problem with the tracking through hyperspace idea. That’s something that could conceivably be achieved in time. But getting something as basic as ships only move forward in space with fuel wrong shows the complete lack of care that went into this. They get that people generally die of exposure in space unless you have Force powers. Star Wars generally gets physics right and is partly appreciated for seeming like a plausible place. Even the Force is rooted in something quasi scientific with the midi chlorians. This glaring fuel in space screw up would be a minor thing if it didn’t undermine the entire premise of the main plot of the movie. I wish Lucas was still involved story wise. His absence is becoming more telling as Disney either remakes his previous movies or shows its doesn’t understand its characters the moment it’s not remaking them. My sense is a lot of people are finding a new appeeciation for the truly risky and innovative prequels compared to Disney’s original trilogy lite. Though it doesn’t copy the plot of Empire the way Force Remakens copied New Hope, there is still an awful lot of Empire in the DNA of Last Jedi. Johnson seems to think he’s being clever by doing some of that movie slightly differently while also borrowing the best parts of Return of the Jedi. Johnson and Abrams are good at visualizing the story they have, but Lucas is still miles ahead on the ideas front. How id love to see either director directing a Lucas script.
