I had the pleasure of building and reviewing a new custom LEGO Architecture set which was created to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Capitol Records. The kit is designed by Adam Ward, a talented LEGO artist who does commissioned work, and works at Bricksburg on the LEGO movies. 'Capitol Records Tower' by Adam Ward. 642 Pieces, 200$, Capitol Records Tower is an iconic round tower in Hollywood, California. Many people believe that the circular design is meant to evoke the appearance of a stack of records, but this is just a happy coincidence; the architect proposed the round shape to reduce the building’s construction costs and air conditioning needs. Capitol Records Tower, 1956, in Hollywood, California, by Louis Naidorf / Welton Becket and Associates. (Photo JCS, CC-BY-SA-3.0)This is a custom kit containing real LEGO bricks, four stickers, one custom LEGO compatible part, and a high quality box and manual. The packaging is faithful to both the quality and styling of the official LEGO Architecture kits. (Do be careful with the custom part—it is very thin and more brittle than regular LEGO parts... I broke 1/2cm off the tip by accident.)High quality instruction manual, glossy stickers, and a promotional card included. The model is built on a sturdy base measured 16x24 studs, similar in size to other LEGO Architecture sets with a similar number of pieces. The instruction manual is extremely high quality, and almost all of the steps are clear and easy to follow. I did encounter a couple steps which were slightly confusing, but nothing too difficult to figure out.The corner panels need to be slid in from the top. This is a very good set that captures the spirit of this iconic landmark pretty well. This is especially challenging because round shapes are notoriously difficult to re-create using LEGO. The finished model looks great, especially after applying the stickers (which are very effective at reinforcing the building’s identity.) I do wonder if it’s possible to make the tower appear more round without making the model larger by using more than 8 panels. (At least in theory, you could create a model with 14 sides instead of 8 sides while preserving the existing diameter of 28 studs.) The finished model looks great! I enjoyed building this kit; it is was pleasure to step inside the mind of a talented LEGO artist with a different building style than the official sets. I was impressed to see that this kit is comparable in quality to the earlier LEGO Architecture sets, and only slightly less detailed than current sets like the revised Guggenheim Museum building. This set is recommended for people who already have all of the official LEGO Architecture sets, or people who have a connection with Los Angeles. It's available for purchase for 200$. thanks, ---tom NOTE: This review was a generous excerpt of the in-depth review posted on my website. 40262 Christmas Train Ride 40263 Christmas Town Square are both listed as "Call to check product availability". So I called and ordered 2 of each to get free shipping at LEGO Shop at Home. Both are $9.99 and were OOS for weeks. Not a deal and not sure about resale, but I missed em and was surprised they're (sort of) back in stock.5 points

Built a fence! Last month, we had some incredibly strong winds here in SoCal and it knocked my fence over. My neighbor and I, after getting a construction quote and realizing his deductible was too high, decided to rebuild the fence ourselves. We finally finished up yesterday. I had never built a fence. He’s done it a few times. I think it turned out really well. Although the post hole digging took a lot out of this old body.4 points

Greetings from a military member living in England. My interest into Lego's began as a child in the late 70's early 80's when my mother would buy sets for her and I to build. I had so much fun with them it has continued today. I still have a few of the sets from my childhood but unfortunately most were sold a long time ago at yard sales. Being in the military brat as a child and then joining myself has put a strain on my collection. I have roughly 100-150 sets. Moving every 3-5 years has become a real pain. Most of my sets are in storage right now but I do have a lot with me. My Achilles heal here in England is when they opened the Leicester square Store and whenever I go down to London, I wind up spending a lot of money. Anyways, I am looking forward to meeting everyone and learning many new things.2 points

Bulk lego in Oz goes for around $20 - $30 per kilo. The price will vary based on whether there are minifigures and theme. You will be very lucky to find someone to pay 50% of RRP of the sets you have. I would strongly urge you to build the sets and sell on a local facebook site to maximise the amount of money you get.2 points

Still, they have had a retirement bump, which is more than can be said for Pet Shop, Sandcrawler, Ewok Village, et al.2 points

Managed to order 2x 75153 AT-ST for ~$13 each pre-tax plus $6 back in points at KMart when they briefly came back in stock for shipping this morning. Both are marked as preparing shipment so hopefully they do ship and are actually 75153 when they arrive [emoji4] Edit: Both shipped2 points

So here is the Lot, post probably belongs in the "what Lego did you buy today" thread, but in case you were curious..... You guys were spot on. Sets may need to be filled in, as they don't look complete, but for $50, it was a no brainer.2 points

I did read your previous posts correctly. If you read my post correctly, you would see that I was suggesting that as far as buying and selling goes, it doesn't really matter what technical difference you are making an effort to prove wrong or right, between different platforms. I don't know about others, but when I'm looking to sell a set I look at sites such as Ebay at the customers who will be buying my product, instead of looking at BP first. I'm just here to, you know, maybe make a bit of money and share and gain from a bit of advice on sets. I'm not sure what differences in calculations between different sites has got to do with me? Nothing actually.1 point

I can't speak for Australia, but my experience you WON'T get 1/2 of used value for bul. You would be closer to 1/3, probably closer to 1/5. Depends upon theme and minifigures. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pirates of Caribbean, Lord of the Rings would bring more than city or Nexo Knights.1 point

I think it has more to do with the credible assumption these sets will not be remade. And yes, KWEM is an awesome set.1 point

It is also important to know what sets they are. If they are all City, Classic or Creator 3-in-1s, for instance, it´s probably best just to sell them as a lot like you are doing. If there were any rare or collectible sets, it would definitely make sense to make the effort to piece them together and sell them as the actual sets1 point

They’ll be in TRU before too long and in large quantities like with R3. Loads of those R3’s still on shelves in my local TRU.1 point

I guess I never noticed before but it’s a relief to know there are other Brickpickers who think Disney’s Star Wars is trash. Star Wars has been all downhill for me since Disney took over and its my favorite series. I wish they would have ruined some other classic series no one cares about.1 point

After spending 20 minutes at Target feeling bags I finally found the one with the scarf. Had a weird conversation with an employee about what I was doing. He said some people bring in scales and weigh them to get the one they want.1 point

Well, as far as Imperial Lambda Class shuttles goes, I think Imperial Shuttle Tydirium (75094) is most certainly the definitive non-UCS version of it.1 point
