It's pretty appropriate that your favorite classification for sets is "turd" since you're basically pulling all of your opinions out of your a**. ...and yet you don't let that stop you from concluding that a set will crash and burn.3 points

local Tesco is going through some reconstruction in January so they are fire selling everything inc Lego for 50% off, someone posted a photo in our Lego FB group so I rushed in but every exclusive was gone (they had Porsche, TB, BigBen, Par. Restaurant, Detect Office or Bucketwheel of what I remember), so I grabbed last VW Beetle and some friends Grand Hotels, minecraft Fortresses, ninjago Dragon's Forges and bunch of Louvres and Buckinghams2 points

He knows the system pretty well. Says insulting things like “liar, grinch, etc.” but nothing that would violate the system. He’s left over a half dozen negative feedback comments for other buyers in the last six months, many reply in the feedback they’ve given him a refund. Thus, I’m 90% sure he’s a scammer and using the economy shipping loophole to HI to scam free product with refund. I’m going to refund him, otherwise eBay will leave this as a strike in my selling profile and refund him anyway. I normally feel bad when a package takes too long and wouldn’t mind refunding a buyer and letting them keep it. But not for scammers. Luckily, there’s a chance USPS can intercept the package before it arrives. The problem is it has to be returned to me via priority, which would cost me $60+. That’s why I choose to have them ship it to a nearby Goodwill. This way I get to write it off as a tax donation. Best thing is I don’t mention anything after I refund the buyer. I just block him and let him watch the tracking number as it changes and he gets to figure out just how badly he’s lost in his scam.2 points

Rounding up my sales numbers a few days early before the year closes. This was my first full year buying from Kmart. Half way through the year we found out we are moving, so I've spent the second half of the year paring back my inventory. I sold off about 2/3 of my inventory over the holidays through eBay. This was also my first foray into buying new sets. Most of my Lego sales on eBay are used items. I definitely had some lessons learned. Winners: 41178 Elves Dragon Sanctuary I picked up for $2.75 Losers: 75151 Clone Turbo Tank for $60 and 75157 Captain Rex AT-TE for $64 (luckily I just bought 1 of each, but I regret the points I used to get the price so low). Still sitting on these. Haven't tried to sell them. Note: MSRP noted below is Lego's MSRP (not Kmart's). SOLD INVENTORY eBay Gross Sales $2,229 Assumed 82% eBay Net (Shipping, Fees, Paypal) $1,828 Total KMT COGS $869 MSRP of KMT COGS $1,990 Average Discount KMT Legos 56% Return on Investment 110% Total Profit $958 REMAINING UNLISTED/UNSOLD INVENTORY Total KMT COGS $478 MSRP of KMT COGS $1,297 Average Discount KMT Legos 63% Now I just need someone to take my 2 fake Christmas trees off my hands. Craigslist and OfferUp have been silent. Thanks to all the helpful people on this thread. Hope everyone has a happy new year!2 points

I think we need to break it down into two lots; retired and still on the market. The most popular sets (Krennic,, Y Wing and U wing) are going to last till at least the summer so there is no point in stocking up unless the price is excellent as they will doubtless be on clearance. Of the rest, AT ST seemed a good choice but is already partially remade for TLJ. I´d avoid the others unless at least 70% off as they are all unremarkable. I notice you didn´t mention the Constraction figures. KS20 might do ok but the rest are complete turds.2 points

If Snoke can read his mind and set up psychic links across hyperspace and see everything he should damn well know what Kylo is about to do in vivid colour. There may not have been a lot to Maul but at least it all worked and was cool1 point
-
Hee Hee, my thoughts exactly on Snoke. AND Maul was menacing. There was never a moment when he wasn’t in control of either fight until he died, and he had Boba Fett coolness being a man of few words while looking awesome and being the best fighter we’ve seen in the entire saga so far. I think they used him just enough in the prequels to avoid over exposure. He wasn’t needed for what Dooku was up to in II and the fact that we wanted more tells me they did it just right, like the brief but awesome Vader cameo in Rogue One1 point

Yeah, him killing his master made total sense in the movie. Hey, I can link 2 minds together and know your thoughts. Wait I can't sense that old lightsaber 2 inches from my body...brilliant.1 point

I understand the 41172 but I feel like I am missing the big picture on 41181...Val always sounds convincing tho ?1 point

Plus at the time with maul there was a lot of mystery shrouded around him and that added quite a bit to him.1 point

TLJ was terrible mess and killed all the thrill for any future SW movie1 point
-
Grievous was a very cool looking character, but the way it was portrayed in the movies was horrific. The coughing, voice, etc killed the character for me. Could have seriously been made more badass. When he was killed, I didn't really care. Darth Maul was definitely a cool character and George did it right. When he came on screen I cared what was going on. He seemed ruthless and made a great leadin for darth vader. Should have been around at least one more movie if not all 3 prequels.1 point
-
No Offense Val, but violent posts like this help my profits tremendously. Thank you! Carry on.....1 point
-
In my opinion the new movies have not produced any characters I really care about. There are not really any great scenes that standout. Even the prequels had some really cool characters introduced. Grievous and Maul really standout as super cool characters.1 point

well me and the girlfriend love it - we are working on building a whole theme park. Yes would love a big proper creator one but this will add colour and looks good as a 'kiddy coaster' plus get two and we'll get to add a pair of rides to the park for (hopefully) price of one creator ride ?1 point

You might have to side with the buyer on this one.1 point

I can already hear the theme on the speakers play while all the little peeps queue in the line.1 point

While it was featured for 30 seconds, the hammerhead corvette was one of the most impactful (<-- yeah, I know) ships in the film. I would been all over a AT ACT, imperial cargo shuttle, and a corvette. Having said this, most of the R1 sets are still great builds and I remain confident these will be popular for years to come.1 point

I’ve seen it twice. On first watch, midnight on day of release, I came out really, really underwhelmed. After second viewing I’d forgiven certain things, and there were some background things I missed first time round which were good to see. Overall though, it’s far too long, the casino section is pointless and unimpressive (very 90s-calibre effects in parts), several deaths are annoying, and various storytelling decisions are twisty in a really unsatisfying and clunky way. Luke’s PLANET OF MYSTERY, pent up over two long years, is just rubbish. Every time we were there and a CGI character entered the frame, I just wanted a cut to something happening in space. There are exceptionally good bits, but on the whole I think they’ve gone the wrong way in several areas. Ultimately, I wanted it all building to a Force and saber-frenzied ending. What we get is a rug-pull that already leaves Ep IX work to do in currying fan favour. Also, Daisy Ridley is really, really bad in this film. I enjoyed her work in TFA, but she is not good here.1 point

I'm still perplexed that Lego didn’t release a set based on the AT- ACT (AT-AT). It would have prob been one of the more better performing sets before and after retirement.1 point

Ah, how scute. Thank goodness it isn't yet another shellicopter otherwise the outlook would be very beak I say.1 point

Don´t get me started. Series 1 are pretty sketchy apart from Bakery, Naida´s Spa and the other little set ending in a 1. Series 2 we know about and the Mine and Dragon School are no great shakes Seeing as people from as far afield as US, Australia and Europe are now all Elves experts, I´d say series 3 won´t do great due to overhoarding.1 point

The baby wind dragon seems to have grown up. The demand on this one will be interesting. I'm not sure if the lightning wings will be a draw, or a deterrent. But this is also the only dragon revealed thus far, so that may give it the largest draw out in the current line. Hoping the lack of real wings on this one helps my stacks and stacks of Water and Fire dragons. Also thinking, even with the big purple dragon, the Dragon Sanctuary won't take a big hit on this one due to the lack of wings.1 point
-
It is a poor daddy´s alternative to DS and certainly won´t help that set. I reckon it has peaked now anyway as kids will have forgotten about the baby dragons.1 point

AtST also only set with Baze. He is a main character so is a MUST have for people collecting rouge one minifigures. That will help drive this set1 point

And people wonder why TRU are in trouble. Either they are charging 20% more than RRP or giving stuff away when it doesn´t sell.1 point

$5 cheap enough for you? https://www.toysrus.com/product?productId=1075318761 point
-
What do you attribute this to? More resellers..more quantities shipped in, or just less demand? I think on some sets the time to sell was at least 2 to 3 months before the xmas season influx of supply.1 point
-
Totally agree. Let´s hope the skip this one. They are having enough trouble making S5s to want to take on any more trouble.1 point

Pffft...You guys all suck. *I* like it! Cool that it's a 3-in-1. It doesn't have to be freaking huge. Just gotta be able to motorize the thing.1 point

Personal Set Winner: Jestro's Headquarters: Buy in $20, sell $80+ (7 of them) and probably being able to flip some Rockets within a week of getting them for about $50 profit each. Worst Decision: Not sure yet, I have some inside thoughts but am overly pleased with my 1st near full year of doing this via starting with bulk buys only and moving into sets and deciding which one's to break out into the BL store while buying bulk around town. Best Decision: Shutting the BL store down in August to organize everything so that when an order comes in I can pull it very quickly and know exactly where an item is vs knowing "about" where the items may be. I even built a 9 dresser drawer (about 4 feet wide, 5 feet tall) specifically for all my New pieces and absolutely love it. I sometimes wish I would have built 2 at the same time though as the lots/part numbers continue to increase. I originally thought that 10,000 pieces was a solid store size, then I thought 15,000 was good. Now I'm at 50,000 and still looking to continue to add more and more as time allows me with family/other job. Every order, no matter what size or sale amount puts a smile on my face. Other Best Decision: Starting to do this. I think I was hitting a mid-life crisis while going through some health issues, lyme disease like, never confirmed but treated as if it was in the end (after nearly 3 years of searching for an answer) and needed to find an escape at home and just from everything else. I believe I found that new spark in my life. Looking forward to a fun 2018.1 point

While the Last Jedi was disappointing, to be fair, I think this movie was so much better than Force Awakens. However, it just seems like Disney is turning Star Wars into big merchandising opportunities without any concern for the content.1 point

My goodness, I haven't seen Maya the bee in a very long time. The Brickheadz model does look reminiscent from a cartoon such as this.1 point

Even with a remote, there is still the chance the train might go flying off the table that you have the track on, sending it careening off the side because you're testing to see how fast it can take the curves. Or so I've heard. From a friend.1 point
