Exactly! It's like saying people won't buy a UCS X-Wing because they could buy Poe's X-Wing or the Resistance X-Wing. Or people won't buy the UCS TIE Fighter because they could buy the FO Tie Fighter. The system-scale sets are play sets, and they aim at their own markets. If anything, collector's want to have the best version of a vehicle. Nobody will trade in their 10174 Imperial AT-ST UCS set for the newer system-scaled 75183 AT-ST Walker. Or the 10212 Imperial Shuttle UCS set for the Imperial Shuttle Tydirium. Knowing there's a bigger and better version out there while make real collectors want it!

This....if anything it will bring attention to folks that there is a UCS version. Let's remember the UCS Sandcrawler was still available at Amazon till about March - April from what I recall. It has not even been a year since it disappeared at retail.

I have no idea. The signage didn't say what the qualifying purchase was. I took a pic of the sign and took it to the service desk, and no one could find it in the system. Then I walked over to the display with a manager. She remembered that she saw a picture of it and that it was the jungle helicopter. (The sign says 19.99, which is the price of that set) She asked me how many I wanted and I said I'd ring it as 3 purchases since I had 3 large sets if that would work. We went back to the service desk and she had the cashier ring it up on one receipt. They manually charged me $.01 for each heli and then took $.03 off the last set. I may have to go back. Suddenly a few marginal sets are looking better.

In my opinion you're looking for a connection that isn't there. Every new wave has one or a few sets from the OT and PT. There's a new General Grievous Starfighter in the Winter wave. Do you think he has some role to play in Episode 9 as well? There's a "new" Mos Eisley Cantina set too. Do you think Kylo Ren visits Tatooine in Episode 9? Of course not. TLG just soft reboots the old designs in most cases to fill out the wave. How many Droid Escape Pod sets have there been? They save their "effort" (such as it is) to put out newly designed sets for the newest movie.

I'm not expecting any fireworks on Boxing Day. Went into John Lewis (Nottingham) today and Lego shelves very empty. Definitely no glut of lines that need clearing. It's good news though, if deep discounting days are coming to an end and Lego is become a leaner machine. Note the new Nexo lines for sale!

The UCS may not be the best investment but it was a great build and a very nice display piece. I love it.

What I meant is that the damage as you see it in my picture was more than likely caused by Amazon returning it to me, versus it already being this damaged when Amazon got it back from the customer. The flimsy bookpackaging they used was squashed right in the spot where the box is squashed. But I guess that since this was already marked as Customer Damaged, they will just attribute any damage their crappy packaging did during the trek back to me as caused by the Customer.... I’m going to be moving on.

That's a great strategy. I recently sold about 15 sets a day or so for the month of December and both my kids thanked me for the opportunity to make some extra $$ but looked at the pile of sets to be packed and shipped and walked the other way. I can't wait to sell my other 5000 sets...

Phasma wasn't on sale in the store, but all the other BHs were. Associate said it should qualify, but the register didn't, so he put in a manual points credit for me which should come through in the next few weeks. I figured why not go bold and called LEGO CS to see if my $350 purchase would qualify for a London Bus (store was all out) and they're shipping me one with express shipping, even though that promo ended yesterday (I didn't know that). Score!

Watched it in Real3D yesterday with the family. Thoroughly enjoyed it, as in: 1. It wasn't predictable (some interesting twists) 2. Tons of battles and explosions 3. Some nice little jokes, such as Luke's shoulder swipe SW has always had lots of things in it where you think "why did they do this if they had all this technology". I'm not a fanboy, so my expectations are realistic - fun, wholesome entertainment, and don't overthink it because you'll find more holes in it than in a block of Swiss cheese .....

Finally finished! Holy cow, it’s a beast! Frankly I love it. Wish it had gotten more love. Sooooo steampunk. As steampunk as LEGO will ever get, I bet. Great build. Very interesting the entire time. Fantastic detail throughout.

Had a spare couple of hours so took the opportunity to build the scout trooper and speeder. Not UCS but nonetheless a great build that more than holds it own against the rest of the ucs collection. Great value. Assuming this isn’t around for ever this could be a nice little earner given the relative low buy in
