  1. I flipped one, am holding one, and sent one for free to a random STEM teacher on Twitter who mentioned wanting one for her classroom. She seems confused and excited.

  11. I don’t name them, I just report them. Just the opposite for me. Never in a million years would have I thought I’d get all those Superfriends minis. This is much better than 5 different Batsuits.

  13. I saw these posted on Facebook and thought I would share it here. It is not LEGO, nor does it purport to be. The display is found at Target near the movies and books, where they have various licensed knick-knacks. It's called the Nano Scene by Jada. They also had a Harry Potter scene display and a DC Comics Batcave scene display. There is not a covering over the slots and the space inside is big enough for about 3x5 studs. I used some 4x4 plates as I didn't have a bunch of minifigure plates. It was $17.99 or about the same cost as the 2x4 minifigure display case from LEGO. The plastic rock base is detachable and it can be wall mounted. Target DPCI 323010416. I did not install the 3 AAA batteries. K-2SO on the plate was slightly too tall for the slot and had to be hunched, Chewbacca fit fine.

  15. Looks like these 2 themes could be getting some much needed secondary market demand. ======= “Amazon has greenlit one show that it hopes to rule them all. The company has made a multi-season production commitment to a television adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings.” https://www.reuters.com/article/us-amazon-com-lord-of-the-rings/amazon-to-produce-lord-of-the-rings-television-series-idUSKBN1DD293 http://ew.com/tv/2017/11/13/lord-of-the-rings-tv-series/

  19. https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/10/15946642/two-factor-authentication-online-security-mess 2 Factor Authentication isn't the answer .. the big tech companies know it and don't care because it won't ever make them money. Short term they need to do some type of 2FA AND also start disabling accounts that are inactive (even something like 3 months). You can come up with some creative ways to have accounts re-enabled using ID (just never save the ID on insecure servers) or tie the 2FA to a specific device ID - many high security firms use USB fobs - such as your phone. Sure you can lose the device, but if it's password protected that buys you time to cancel/change info. Long term, they should be working together with anyone who is interested to come up with something better.

  22. 20% @ TCB and free snow globe with a £15 spend. I can smell desperation and it’s not even BF week. And if the TCB doesn’t track at that rate you can always call Lego and cancel the order

  23. Those custom roller coasters tend to use these links to pull the cars up to the top... https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3711&name=Technic, Link Chain&category=[Technic, Link]#T=C The picture is blurry, but this is an example.. You'd have to modify the track layout so you have a higher peak on one side so it can roll around completely to start over. And it would also depend on whether you can get those links under the cars and above the tracks.... or if you can tie into the single rails as done here.

  28. With tomorrows delivery I should be around 150 AS's and that will probably be my limit unless I really start to see sparks fly towards the end. While I can't prove this I believe that there are a lot of schools that use this set so there will be a demand for it long after it's gone. 6166 & 5560 are still in amazons top 50 after all these years. I got rid of all of my 6166 years ago when it hit $60. Btw, I have some AS's with 06 for the seal code year but the last two shipments I got straight from the LEGO warehouse were 04 for the year.

  31. Personally, I think that this "quick flipping " (buy yesterday, sell the other day for XXX profit) doesnt exactly quantify the term "investment", which I see as a kind of long term commitment to purchase something, keep it for a rather long period of time and sell it later with some (considerable) appreciation. THIS.. what you have been presenting here "quick flip" - buy on monday for 25 bucks - sell it on thursday for 75 bucks - is nothing less than some pawn shop behavior.. you might call it "investing".. but its not.. its simply buy in / sell off and the margin in between. but it has nothing with INVESTMENT. - afterwards (after posting this item) it crossed my mind that the actual term for this selling practice would be probably TRADING - accordingly to the Wall Street practice

  37. Whenever things are going their way, some sellers love the free market and competition. It's brought up whenever a customer or Amazon reviewer is ticked off at scalping. But when someone, one of the many sellers whose independent actions make up the free market, acts independently, the same people dislike the free market. If you care one way or another how one seller decides to price his product, maybe you are one of those people who should be internalizing that "if you can't afford to lose it, don't invest it" statement I've seen here recently.

  38. Math is hard... Accidentally only ordered enough parts for half the assembly, but here we are so far. Drew A LOT of inspiration from 10179 MOC engines that were floating around the forums, so big thanks to those amazing designers. Was also able to use the pool noodles behind the trans-blue elements to get a nice effect. Happy to answer any questions or take deconstructed pics.

  40. So I had been trying to sell a ucs y-wing with box but no instructions that I had about $200 in. Not much luck so I decided to buy another one Made an offer of $317 shipped on one with instructions but no box which was accepted. I took the box off my auction and lowered the buy it now to $379 (from $499 obo with box) and it quickly sold. So now I have a complete set with box and instructions and am well in the black. Pretty happy how it shook out. Have a nice set to build and get listed this weekend
