Consultants are the bane of my existence in my day job. It is always amazing to me when very smart people get totally snowed by consultants into thinking we need to spend millions and millions of dollars for their "expertise." And that is before I even get to their inane corporate double speak and seemingly endless ability to produce PowerPoint slide decks that say absolutely nothing. I'll stop venting now.4 points

You and I know that. Some TLG employee (probably not an AFOL) deciding on production levels will probably look at Doctor Who (a licensed Ideas set that came out before Christmas within the last 2 years) as a comparable set.3 points

75204 Sandspeeder This is just upsetting. It's not just about how ugly it looks or the rest of the TLJ sets. It is further confirmation that TLJ is just a reboot of Empire.2 points

Very nice. There is another thread called what do your displays look like which would be a more ideal location for this post.2 points

If someone else can confirm,. I had my wife go to Toys R US yesterday evening. There were no NASA sets in stock; however it appears Toy R US US never received any stock. The associates looked up the set by UPC and it did not appear within the TRUS system Nationwide.2 points

Also bought a used 10174 on eBay from a zero feedback seller for £110. Just arrived earlier than scheduled, instructions are in good condition, sticker placard is there, and there is a Lego Bricks and Pieces bag in there. Looks promising for being 100% complete. Good find.2 points

Once someone makes the jump from seller to consultant, they have a vested interest in making themselves sound like the greatest seller that ever lived or, in other words, someone who was making millions and millions of dollars from selling. Being a consultant may be easier than being a seller, but that ease means there is a lot more competition and the profit potential is more limited. I'm cynical though...I have dealt with a lot of consultants who pitch themselves as experts in a field, but have trouble answering questions on the spot that they should easily know the answer to if they are the expert that they claim to be.2 points

I'll be honest, that store in Fitchburg is nice but I'll almost never buy anything there (at least any set or used set) Everything is very overpriced and I only ever go there to check out what some sets look like for eyeing up online or in bulk and to possibly grab a few pieces here and there just cause it is fun to search but I really dislike it that they don't have parts by type for sale behind the counter. I've seen people bring in large sets and to me not get enough store credit for it as well. I get that it is a business but it's near robbery it seems at times. A store I love going to is south of Atlanta called Atlanta brick company. Extremely reasonable prices on used sets. You can buy exact pieces and types there as well and the price per pound isn't terrible, or is much lower than my local one in fitchburg. I know this isn't the most glowing of reviews but it's an honest review.2 points

So this may be a dumb question, but how are you going to make money on that at $50 each? If they hit over $100 by the time you get them, maybe. Current Amazon price is around $75. Take$12 in fees plus whatever the shipping cost is and that translates to a dismal profit. Take one of my Amazon sales as an example: Order date: 11/04/2017 Price: $74.99 Shipping: $4.99 Amazon fees: -$12.99 Your earnings: $66.99 Let's assume shipping is about $9. That's 57.99 - $27 for the set That's roughly $30 profit for each set purchased at RRP. Again, my apologies if you have something set up that translates to better profits but from where I am sitting, it seems risky and unrewarding.1 point

Was too busy to catch this announcement. This is just sad to see. Glad I have not made any big Lego purchases for reselling over the past 2 years. We have one Taj left and I honestly did not think things were this bad at TLG. Going to be alot of clearance after xmas as kids want interactive or online, not plastic bricks, and grandma doesn't want to pay up for chinese made toys. Steering clear of this brand. Still see Disney buying it for pennies on the dollar within 5 years.1 point

Ok, so it has just gone to backorder (for a week) at EU SAH. On EU Ebay, only those crazy Brits seem to be willing to pay a premium so far - we´ll have to see if that changes now it is on backorder. Can´t see the thing on EU Amazon and only 4 sold on Bricklink at 31.20 Eur. It´s not exactly rocket science to see that once again there is some type of US hype bubble that has maybe caught a bit of the English speakig market in Europe but this is in no way a home run must-have set in Europe like the Saturn or Falcon.1 point

It's been 20% off for a while on there... I don't like that it's still available at that price... Are they flooded with it, or is it just not selling I wonder. Walmart still has a little over a hundred too -.-1 point
