Ha, I honestly feel a little bad about it, because I'm not one who's "Bailing because the Lego world is ending", its just that this hobby got WAY too big for me and my life. I don't need the money now or anything, but I don't want to miss anymore family time staying up late packing 20 items in the middle of the night after working 10-12 hour days. That part I don't care for anymore, but I do have faith that this is still a worthwhile hobby that can help offset the cost of Lego as a collection. I'd rather pass the savings off to another BP'r, pay it forward and let them reap the ROI in a year or three. Or help someone complete their collection at a much better than Amazon or Ebay price. win/win. Oh and I have thousands of 100% feedback on ebay over many years of selling if anyone wants references.6 points

Got the falcon is about the land e-mail. Woop Woop. Top 15 at my store list, so that would assume at least a shipment of that amount. So 20-25 isn't unheard of imho. Edit: FYI, e-mails are coming directly from store managers as far as I can tell.2 points

Built over a span of a couple of months as I'm pretty busy with work, but I am happy with the outcomes. Picked up the houses in a used local lot and really like all three. I wish the current line of Creator Houses were more similar to these! My wife even suggested on her own that these would be neat to put together into a town set up one day, so that was a win. I picked up the Detective's Office back in July when the Snowglobe and Piggy Bank were stacking. I was up in the middle of the night waiting for news on our puppy that was having to have emergency surgery, and it was definitely an impulse buy as I figured I was blowing an estimated 2-4k on the pup, whats a little bit more? Had a lot of fun building it and am impressed with some of the details, its a lot better in person than I gave it credit for before I bought it. Puppy turned out just fine as well...(the underwear she ate, not so much) A post here led me to that deal, and while I always appreciate the lead on discounted sets for resale, I'm always super grateful for the good deals on sets for personal builds, thanks all!2 points

Interesting. I ordered four orders of four each and they all went through. Right place at the right time maybe?1 point

I think @TabbyBoy touches on this point, as a big change is that timeliness is more of a consideration, including with the flipping / arbitrage. Sitting on a retired set and expecting it to go up forever is not realistic - if you're sitting on gold, just sell into hype and reap a comfortable profit rather than getting greedy. Keep that capital flowing with a positive margin and you're in a good spot. There are a ton of examples within the past few years for sets that rose modestly, then dropped off again. Parabolic was mentioned. If a set is high and there's a good margin, just take the money and run, even if you're not on the top of the curve. No way to know that. Things don't just accrue into skyhigh oblivion, especially when remakes, new huge lego sets, fakes, all provide ample competition with each other. There are more sets than ever to chose from, both new and old, and that's not changing. I don't think that's a sign of doom - making lego more available than ever is a good thing for its popularity, but devaluing brand via over-expansion is a concern too. Lego is a toy, and most lego is seen and bought as toys, which do not make good investments whatsoever. You probably shouldn't be hoarding friends, city, uniconic star wars sets, for RRP... some of the pics I've seen, those scare me. Not all lego goes up or sells. Some things are solely parting out packs for bricklink stores if you get it on sale. And that's only if you don't value your free time and enjoy scoops of pennies and nickles. There are so many lego sets now, you really have to chose wisely, or for good sales. I buy basically nothing at RRP, and only buy a few times a year when the deals or pickin's feel right. Stack points, wait for deals and sales, whatever. Oops, don't mind me, just accidentally authoring misplaced speculation bubble posts ?1 point

Good luck with the sale, I think most people (myself included) drastically under estimated how much time and effort it takes to sell lego (almost a second job). I still love lego, I get excited reading about what the next big AFOL set will be on this forum, but I have spent way to much time on this veture. I learnt the hard way that you should always value your time, as you miss a lot of real life when you spend all your free time researching / reselling stuff.1 point

got a couple of more shipping notices today from orders late last night and the first UCS Snowspeeder showed up this morning in mint condition. best part of this sale was getting thumbs up to proceed with controlled abandon on purchasing for once from my wife. instead of the usual antics and runarounds.1 point

It's that time of the year! One of my local stores has started to stock the toy isle, always a good time to find some of the older stuff and wait for the inevitable clearances. This location had a bunch of beat up AAT's, Skyhoppers, B-Wing, City Snowplows, and old Milano. On top of stocking some of the new stuff of course.1 point

<least of your concer> implies I'm still gonna try. But if I want something, I want it now. Not gonna live my life on a hope and a prayer that if it happens to go on sale and I'll be able to buy it when it does if and when it becomes available at other retailers or goes on a special sale. Not saying it won't but, keep waiting till the cows come home.1 point

If you are spending $800 on a Lego set, "saving" money is the least of your concern.1 point

Thanks, they're the guys that deliver out of a plain white van. Sometimes the neighbors call the cops on them because they seem driving slow in the neighborhood and running up to the doors (I guess they don't see the packages they are dropping off, not picking up).1 point
