When I somehow still don't have one (or ten) then something is definitely wrong with a release.10 points

Here's my next Batman minifigure display. I wanted to display the Batman figs together, so I found inspiration in some images of Wayne Tower. Originally, I was going to only put the Batman figs on the display, but I needed more height on the display to make it look like a tower, so I added the Robin minifigures. The display should have all variants of Batman and Robin minifigures except the SDCC minifigures. My apologies for the glare on the figs...enjoy!8 points

40,000 people looking to buy this set that morning...NO WAY. A couple of thousand...I'll give you. There a couple of hundred active posters on here and Brickset and Eurobricks, etc...bitching they couldn't get one. Don't let a few active threads give the impression of such a demand. LEGO wants you to think this set is in such demand. If LEGO had enough Falcons to satisfy everyone, nobody would be talking about it. Been there, done that...4 points

Jang should review at least one of the 2 UCS MF sets as he's done zero so far. as others have stated, reviewing 75192 for his youtube channel must not be worth the time, mental state and energy . i'm sure he'll end up reviewing 75192 sooner than later. TLG does give you and @Jeff Mack two things. headaches and the occasional e-mail.4 points

i work at a top 50 fortune company that have insane monthly, quarterly and super-sized end of year batch data loads. i manage the dept. that makes sure we are properly scaled in non-prod to predict prod load handling during busy times w/ our 3rd party vendor installed in our system. we started using AWS in-addition to our existing in-house hardware. i even brought in Exadata 6 years ago which was costly but more than made up for perf issues w/ the vendor's software on the 10 app server mode cluster (we started w/ 4 app server nodes) bottom line is that like me, IT dept leaders at places such as amazon, netflix, ebay, comcast xfinity, and walmart learned to scale properly. while it's technical, that's also a method of the "crazy made scientist" madness for making decisions on when and how to scale. when the ACA website opened shop, they learned the hard way. well, the lego, hbo-go and ticketmaster web sites still function like the old ACA one which itsself looked like in was built in 2005. there's no excuse for poor performance just like poor security. only diff is you can blame performance and inability to take orders on your tons of customers and excellent products. can't use that excuse when it comes security as that's a diff beast. thus, i think honestly lego wanted to brag about 75192 being so popular, consumers overwhelmed the web site and then imply their web site is strong enough to handle it but couldn't due to way too much 75192 demand,3 points

Let's be honest, when you've got: You have Chima sets still on the shelf, that have been retired for 2+ years, and they're still marked above RRP, You don't automatically PM your website (and PM'ing negates coupons and other discounts), You jack up the prices above RRP so that your sales aren't really sales, You have so many exclusions on your coupons, that you need a magnifying glass to read them, Your jacked up prices cause people to just go to the other big box store (Target, Walmart) that sells LEGO in the same shopping center ...you're gonna have trouble staying in business.3 points

pure calculation. the $$$ he will potentialy get from ads and viewers won't cover the costs of the original purchase, it's not even about hobby or lack of space, pure calculation from him. I respect his decision because he is probably the only one reviewer with that audience who is not getting paid for reviews so he has still full independence in his thoughts.2 points

Ordered mine from LEGO Shop at Home on Thursday and it shipped Friday. Hopefully I will have it early this week.2 points

Good for JANG. He is my go to reviewer on sets and while I would love to hear what he thinks of it, I totally understand his reasons for not reviewing it. Too large of a buy in for a set he has no space for display or interest in. I'm surprised LEGO never sends review copies his way. Doesn't seem like they do that for a lot of youtubers.2 points

Hi everyone! I'm new to posting on BP but have been lurking for awhile now. below are a few pics of a MOC that I originally made to be a center piece to my daughter's LEGO elf village. It never really got finished because she decided to use it as a night light! Now if course my son would like something as well. For the lighting I used shapeable wire Christmas LED lighting. I hunted around online for some model lights but everything was pretty pricy. Any suggestions on good deals out there or any suitable alternatives? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!2 points

LEGO PLUS+ Taj Mahal (feat. DUPLO) Built with easy-to-handle DUPLO bricks "LEGO PLUS+ Taj Mahal" is a "grown-up" display set dedicated to senior LEGO fans and/or visually/motorically impaired builders, and also suits everyone who likes big models but doesn't like to handle thousands of pieces. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/7681a03b-8066-4313-9cf2-62ce667c1974 Maybe it's much more likely for THIS new submission (also by AFOD) to become the first ever DUPLO set to succeed on the LEGO Ideas platform, rather than the divisive "DUPLO Mysteries ot The White House" ( https://ideas.lego.com/projects/865fd7d2-ac55-4162-a098-80fa99d458cb ). Your thoughts on the DUPLO Taj Mahal and the new concept of "LEGO PLUS+" (adult sets built with DUPLO)?1 point

Sell the signed one, order a normal one at 2xVIP and get your dog to sign it. Then you will have your cake and eat it as no one else will have that version. The elephant in the room is what benefits the VIP card will offer. What happens when they send the second one out to the original buyer by post? Which one is valid to claim the promos and what promos will be offered?1 point

What happens if the set designer signs more sets next week or next month at another event? What happens if the fakes start hitting eBay? All I'm saying is that if you have one of these, selling now for $5000 or more is money in the bank. It could change big time in a few weeks.1 point

Getting sick of seeing all the confirmed deliveries in the other thread. Just wanted to put my vote in here for "order confirmed, waiting for new stock". Disappointing. Stressing for days over "should I buy one? ... or shouldn't I? ... online? ... or in store?"... My local store had nine in stock. I didn't think there'd be a big crowd, so decided to get to the store about an hour before they opened. Actually arrived an hour-and-a-quarter early, to find exactly NINE people in line already... jerks... sittin' in their lawn chairs with grins on their faces. Ah well... I had been trying to place an order online (as a back up) all morning... time to get serious clicking. Finally got through at about 9:20 AM eastern. Felt pretty good. Saw where many here were getting their orders confirmed (like me)... then a few hours later "In Warehouse"... etc. Figured... I got my order in early enough... I'll be home before those smug b_stards in line even get into the store. But my story stalls right there. Still waiting for new stock. Just sucks.1 point

Blacktron fan made a cameo again, if that counts (was in LEGO movie). No others stood out to me. I'm a LEGO Movie fanboy and I loved LEGO Batman Movie. For what it's worth, I liked LEGO Ninjago Movie more than LEGO Batman Movie. And since Jackie Chan was in the LEGO Ninjago Movie, guess what you get after the end of the movie? That's right, bloopers!1 point

I'm sure others don't care about this tangent, so this will be my last post on this tangent. you are confusing the idea of "supply and demand" and actual rarity. Confusing the idea of pricing and inventory. Something does not have to be rare to be expensive... simply being difficult to acquire can drive price up as people are willing to pay for convenience (see scalping at any launch...). When demand exceeds supply... prices go up... that doesn't make the item rare. Concert tickets to see U2 can resell for multiple times their cost... because they were difficult to acquire. Yet every few days, tens of thousands of people will see them. There will be a million plus of these tickets in aggregate- seeing U2 was not a rarity. the NES classic was extremely difficult to acquire. Demand far exceeded supply. Because of this, on the secondary market people were willing to pay an extreme premium to have one. This is a constraint on **availability** and ability to acquire that is driving price -- not rarity. What is the difference?? One is a function of supply, demand, and access.... while rare is purely defined by how many there are. Rare does not change when something is no longer desired... it's still only found in limited numbers. Price driven by supply, demand, or access will change as those variables do. So rarity can drive price.... but high price does not mean rare. There is a one way correlation - not two way. Things can be rare, and worthless... because price depends on demand, not just inventory. rarity does not change when demand fades. Prices typically do. the nes classic sold for 5x its price regularly on the secondary market. There are actually more than 2.3 million NES classics sold. There will be crazy amounts of NIB nes classics forever - they will never be rare. The value was driven by excessive demand - something that is a function of time/location. Even when that demand waned, the product doesn't become more or less rare. There are still 2.3 million units out there. the 10179 price was driven by the idea that the availability of a MSIB version of the product was only available via secondary market and sellers were able to hold out for high prices.. It's akin to the diamond market... the price was held high by sellers as a whole holding out with enough buyers willing to pay those prices. When more and more buyers come into a market while inventory is fixed... prices rise. Once the market came to be for reselling... the inventory of MISB kits stablaized because so many were being held purely for reselling. This happens in every market where speculators buy to hold... instead of to consume. The holding props up the future availability of mint/new product compared to what would have happened naturally in a traditional market. This reduces the rarity of finding that mint/new product in the future... hence why most "collectible" product lines will never really be that collectible/rare in the long term. when your house jumps 100% in value due to increased demand in your area... your house did not suddenly become "rare" - the value is a reflection of demand and availability.1 point

Yup, that same video could have been made for several sets like Porsche 911, Disney Castle and Saturn V. It´s fascinating how the sets that are not available now but will be in days or weeks appreciate more than stuff like Tumbler, which won´t be sold by Lego again for a while.1 point
-
Well, I liked it. Now if anyone thinks... hey... isn't this this set that one can sell for a huge profit.... they might stumble upon this and not get burned.1 point
-
Completely false logic. The entire population of the world is not the potential audience for the inventory. 20,000 of anything is not rare, especially when people are buying them NIB with intent to hold. Demand keeping prices high does not equate to rarity. Anyone can buy volumes of 10179 in seconds without any prep, research, or waiting - that is not rare.1 point

Tell the store manager that if you don't both get one, you'll no longer be family? The only way around that is to pretend you don't know the person you're there with... that would be hard with kids though. "Shhhh, you don't know that strange lady in front of you in line ok?"1 point

@lodibricks summed up my sentiment exactly after reading the ideas description @Frank Brickowski crafted and the discussion it generated. The best case would probably be bulk orders of crafting boxes to nursing homes and retirement communities. I get what @gregpj is saying about breaking tradition in the ideas platform, (the irony here tho it started as CUUSO & rules have changed so the platform has been altered before) however, what better way to tell tlg they have interest in a current product line for a new target audience? In a business equation, that equals a new revenue stream with very little upfront capital investment. Do you honestly think if @Frank Brickowski peddled the votes to get to review, essentially dropping a 10k po, tlg would ignore it?1 point

Thought I would quickly share with everyone the small Batman display I've pulled together. Check it out: Had to find a good way to display the Lego Batman CMFs, so I brick built the LBM logo and added all 20 minifigures across the logo. Select figs have a small Batman logo on their stand. All Batman baddies ever made are displayed above in the Rogue's Gallery (posted before), and I mounted the big figs and the Brickheadz directly to little stands that I nailed to the wall. LBM vehicles are in the shelves below. Next on my to-do list is to build a display for all of the Batman minifigures ever released. My idea is to mount them on a background that's modeled after Wayne Tower. Robin minifigs we'll be on the lower levels, and Batman figs will be in the upper sections. Hope this spurs some creative ways to display minifigure collections! Will post more as it's completed.1 point
