  1. Finally got around to building a LEGO set since earlier this summer. I really like this BB-8 set. Much like the R2 set, I wasn't looking forward to the build but was happy afterwards. here are some comparison pics.

  3. Can't say that deals are abundant right now, but it will pick-up. On that note, some of the clearance threads have been very active this year.

  4. I've been placing a number of Bricklink orders the last few days, to get my butt moving on some projects that have stalled. Didn't expect to see all of this stuff into my mailbox last night:

  5. Yeah, there are 3 types of comments: a.(easily influenced soccer mom) Take my money, I need this set and look friends maybe your kids should get one too. b.(pragmatic) Lego is too expensive, no wonder they are firing people. I could buy a hundred edible gingerbread houses for the same money c.(opportunistic) This set is retired so secondary market reseller prices apply - by the way I have one for sale for just 99 USD if anyone is interested. The post came from 4th September and the big price rise on Amazon started that same day - I guess she must have been paid to influence by someone who had a vested interest or a lot of stock to clear. We don´t have date by date sales on Bricklink but it´s clear the mass buying happened in early September because the August monthly sales were on a par with previous months. Ebay data shows less than one sale per day up until the afternoon of 4th September (European time) then MULTIPLE SALES PER HOUR that same day carrying on through to the weekend. Guess she is very good at influencing people and should really be hired by Trump ASAP.

  6. Yeah, I think that web has identified the source for all this madness. Below is the original FB post from 4th September that seems to have started the run by linking the set to the Amazon affiliate buy page. Amazon prices moved upwards from the 5th, so they are clearly related. It has gone viral with over 1.5 million views and 10k comments (brickpicker even gets mentioned as well as lots of hate for resellers and talk about Lego firing people and charging too much for this set). https://www.facebook.com/SmartSchoolHouse/?hc_ref=ARRUlp7AAJiY_r6UMn3DmKW4ZnsFzkjDbgOtLBD4fAtv-rIvxqx3bF3CDC8XgVk2T70&fref=nf I guess once the fuss over the post dies down and people move on to the next thing, prices will fall back to 50/60 USD. Sales rank has already slipped on Amazon. Good business for those who sold in the right window, though.

  7. Nice if you want new justice league sets, jungle sets, or friends winter stuff Fred meyer @costco for $23. Not too bad with new higher price

  8. probably? No @boliramirez it's an excellent tool. Due to the price matching love triangle between WM Target and Amz if either WM or Target post a good ONLINE deal then Amazon will soon offer it. At which time Max will post it as well. The better deals that have been posted and shared by BP members are usually from their findings IN STORE not online. If however, you are strictly an online shopper you are held to those online deals only of which MaxP grabs most of them.

  13. And any juice on retirements or a new modular please! Good to see Lego have managed to undercut Apple´s Iphone X with the Falcon - almost seems good value now.

  14. First off, Irma sucks. Things are pretty boring with no power, so I've been building some sets. The Batmobile was from a CL lot I got last week, that I already built a Brick Bounty from. The Technic BMW is from my "new sets to build" pile. And the Simpsons is a used one I picked up last year that I hadn't gotten around to yet, only missing one piece.

  17. When a third of UCS Falcon buyers say they are going to get one the first day at full retail and are putting together all sorts of logistical operations to guarantee it, one wonders who is influencing who. We may need to consider sending this woman some money in order to promote our ToO, Joker Steamrollers and Chima Firebikes, though. One can only imagine the chaos if she starts on Saturn V.

  23. Within 2 hours of filing the NPB, the buyer took the X and I was able to cancel the order. It's all still very suspicious... There was no communication, no response to my message, but they allowed the hit almost immediately. I relisted at $50, and "found a new buyer" overnight. Invoiced this am. Just got paid. I couldn't stomach selling for more than $50

  29. At least I remembered to turn them all over so my address wasn't showing, lol. I'll answer your question here: https://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13714-bricklinking-for-the-thrill-of-the-build-and-the-lowest-price/?page=5 I didn't have time to start checking in all those parts last night. There's a few hundred parts in all of those bags. And still one more bag coming before I start working on my next set of orders.

  30. lots of Amazon shoppers only care about the percentage off, they won't bother looking for the market MSRP. That said, 15% off definitely looks unappealing than 40%. The bright side of it is for some people who truly know the value of the set now have more chance to grab one before it gets sold out. anyway, thank you for the info.

  31. You make zero sense. Right now, people have been cleaning house in Walmart for a while. The Walmart clearance thread was the most popular thread for a while. Then it was the anticipation of the new Falcon. Online deals have been so so. Amazon leads the way in many cases with others matching, or Amazon coming down to match. Max Profit posts an update once every three hours. If nothing happens in between those three hours, then what can I do. All that bot does is update anything that has dropped in the past couple of hours, whats the big deal about that. If I stopped Max, then I would have just as many people complain that it is gone. Ignore his posts and your life will be forever better. Maybe the updated Max Profit posts I release in a little bit will be more worth your time. I will continue to put them out there. If people find help from them then good, if you don't like them there is a way to ignore them. So everyone should be happy. What are we really missing out there? Things are different today than they were two years ago.

  32. Sold 4 x $100 each. Probably could have waited to get more but... a bird in hand and all that. Seems this will probably go on for a few more weeks, though I don't imagine it lasting through the holiday. But who knows? Maybe, just maybe. After all: Fads + Xmas = Crazy Times in the U.S. of A.

  36. Good. Let the fools buy them. It's called misdirection. I should start my own channel and recommend everything I'm not buying. I'll just talk about box size saving time by only carrying one thing instead of all those pesky city starters...perhaps I've said too much [emoji6]

  37. my thoughts... i think most folks will forget about 10179 and it will be a $600-$800 set (none of the key elements are really special anymore for MOCs - either been redone or being made again & it's another set that's probably considered dated). while it's part of lego history, it's not really iconic anymore. it's no longer the 1952 topps or t-206 honus wagner of Lego sets. when people became lego collectors since 2011, one of the first things they learned about was the 10179 set and many prob immediately started to put it on their "wish list". what does 10179 have left going for it? it's no longer the largest nor most expensive lego set anymore. it's been remade with an equal or better set. i owned a 10179 with the 1st edition stuff. that 1st edition stuff was a marketing gimmick but it meant something when 10179 was the only UCS MF. now, i doubt most people will care if the 1st edition stuff is included or not. i really don't mean to knock the 10179 set but like past great things, it's now just a footnote in Lego history because how good 75192 came out. even as big 10179 fan, i have to face reality.

  38. While I am getting closer to releasing a long overdue update to BrickPicker, now is a good time to release some content that I was hoping to release with the updated site. @belljohn has been talking with Ed and I for a very long time and has spent a lot of time in creating a series of Brickvesting videos that he is happy to share on the BrickPicker YouTube Channel. I am hoping to see this expand this into a bunch of different topic series and welcome any of you that are interested in working on some videos to reach out to me and we can work on it. Set reviews, investing tips, set builds, etc. It's not easy to speak for ~15 minutes, but Brook does an amazing job covering this topic. We will be publishing more videos soon from belljohn. We hope you enjoy it. Who knows, maybe soon you will see Ed showcase his amazing words of wisdom in video. That will be a real treat.

  40. Finished. Well I guess I need to see the movie as there is a lot of build here that I have no clue what it is. Besides being an amazing display set, it is very busy and seems to have something different to look at each time, there are some awesome modules that have great detail on the inside that you do not see unless you take them apart and explore, like Lloyd's apartment that just looks like a plain yellow building from the outside and the comic book store. It is not your classic Ninjago set and I still think ToA is my favorite in the theme. It is also not a classic Modular where you build one floor at a time, rather you build separate modules that attach to make up the floors. I think they did a great job of recreating the city from the movie using new elements, elements in new colors and existing elements in new ways, but will have to wait to see it. I am going to add the Ninjago green dragon 70612 tonight and some lampposts from the city chase 70607 should be arriving Monday. You get a lot for $300 with over 4860 elements, 16 minifigs, sweep and 2 suprise figs that are part of the build.

  41. Nice review from The Brick Fan. The LEGO Ninjago Movie Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612) Review Posted: 27 Jul 2017 05:39 PM PDT My reviews of The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets are well underway and I’ve gotten quite a few requests to do a review on the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612). It is one of the medium-sized sets in the wave coming in at 544 pieces and retails for $49.99. Minifigures The Green Ninja, aka Lloyd, has a new black and green outfit with some printing going across the chest spelling out the word Ninja. He has a two piece mask however I do with there was Lloyd’s regular hair piece included as well. He has a double-sided head with one side being an angry expression and the other a confused one. His accessory is a sword with a pearl-gold chain tassel which I like. Master Wu has a new white robe with printing of the fasteners going down the middle. He also has a cloth skirt piece with similiar printing. He only has a single-sided head with a stern look. The white beard piece is the same one as before. One thing that is new, however, is the tan straw hat with an updated design. Garmadon, like with his previous versions, has two torsos, one of which has printing of his armor while the other has printing of his ribs. Going over the torsos is a paper robe/cape piece. Garmadon has an evil expression and he wears a large helmet. His accessories include two swords and a laser pointer keychain. If you’ve watched the new SDCC 2017 trailer, you may have seen it in use. Finally we have Charlie who we assume works for Garmadon. The printing of the torso and legs are of a tactical suit. The outfit is not the same as the one seen as my previous review of the Ninjago City Chase (70607) which has some slight differences. His accessory is a fish spear that uses a light-blue fish piece. Build The only build is this set is the Mech Dragon and I will say that it looks fantastic. I haven’t built many Ninjago dragon sets and the only one I’ve reviewed was The Golden Dragon (70503) way back in 2013. Obviously, this set is a huge upgrade and there are many reasons why. The whole dragon comes in a sand green color and has a very organic feel to it when you look at it from afar. Since it is a mech, there are some areas where it looks fairly rigid but it still looks great nonetheless. For the head is probably my favorite part of the dragon. It is attached to the neck using a ratchet joint and it can turn to many positions that make it come alive. There’s a sticker to give some extra detailing. The eyes are actually a trans-green minifigure head that is in a bowl. The mouth is able to open very wide and it also has a tongue that is made from a flag piece. There’s also a lot of pearl-gold pieces including the banana next to the eyes and tooth pieces on top of the head and bottom of the mouth. The neck area has a cockpit for the Green Ninja to control. The panel is a sticker however the trans-green screen is a printed piece. There’s even a clip next to it for the sword as well. The whole neck is on hinged ratchet joints and it can look up fairly high. Going down the back of the Mech Dragon are some black fin pieces for its spikes. In the middle of the body are a couple of hidden thrusters that are able to pop out during flight mode. The panels that open up has a large sticker on it. Both the front and hind legs are on ratchet joints while there are ball joints at the ankles. Using this combination of parts give the Mech Dragon a lot of poseability which I really appreciate. You can get it into a normal standing pose to a crawling one with ease. The front legs have a couple of stud shooters as well. The section behind the body and in front of the hind legs is connected by a Technic pin and it has some swivel in that area but not much. The tail sections have a lot of playability as it has a wheel turning function to make it whip around. It uses some new 2×4 hinged pieces to connect the sections and it actually looks really good when you turn the wheel. Build After building it and staring and swooshing it around for a bit, longer than I should, I will definitively say that The LEGO Ninjago Movie Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612) is the best dragon set that LEGO has made so far. Although it is a technically a mech, you can’t really tell when looking at it from far away. As I mentioned before, the organic look of it combined with all the sand green and pearl-gold parts is what makes this dragon stand out from other Ninjago dragons that LEGO has made. The price point is spot-on and it is worth picking up even at normal price. The four minifigures are okay but not all of them are exclusive to this set and it’s not a big deal as they aren’t the main focal point. Design: 5/5 Playability: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Check out my reviews of some other The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets: Spinjitzu Training Dojo (70606) Ninjago City Chase (70607)

  43. I did the same thing two years ago when I bricklinked my flagship. I ended up using black ones. They look fine. I tried stacking like the above suggestion but it did not look as good as the black. I built the fake IF last year. I wanted to see one of these for myself. The posts are in two pieces, the bottom square has a round nub on it that the tube slides on to. That piece of crap fell apart if I looked at it cross eyed. Paid $60, tried to sell on CL for $30 but no takers. It's in a landfill now.
