My best find yet... Was advertised as Lego Lot Grey 2 lbs. Got it for $26 incl shipping. Take a look at the pic, can you figure out which set? There is only one and it was missing 13 pieces. Five digit number ends in 178. I had a battery pack and motor laying around and it all works great. Prior to that was a lot of 25 lbs which had a UCS Yoda in it (missing about 18 pieces). It had about 2 lbs of mega blocks in that lot but I'll take the Yoda any day.5 points

Good thing you didn't get those 8 you bought off of eBay that the seller claimed he didn't have what would you have done with them? Ugh3 points

Good. Let the fools buy them. It's called misdirection. I should start my own channel and recommend everything I'm not buying. I'll just talk about box size saving time by only carrying one thing instead of all those pesky city starters...perhaps I've said too much [emoji6]3 points

Saw one (and passed) at my local LEGO store today. Manager chatted me up, said he'd hadn't seen me in quite a while. Told him that I just haven't seen anything worth loading up on lately and am kinda getting out of the hobby, he confessed the store (one of the highest volume ones in the US) is getting crushed this spring/summer. Apparently in-store sales have taken a notable dive across the entire region, and the buzz amongst managers is they're drowning in an onslaught of big ticket ($150+) sets the last few waves now, and they just aren't moving off the shelves. Parents walk in, see every other set with $100+ prices, and quickly conclude "LEGO is too damn expensive" (the $20-50 price point sets are drown out by the monsters). Maybe LEGO corporate will take notice and start tightening up EOL cycles... but I'd bet they'll just focus on blitzing out yet another movie within a month or 2 of Ninjago's release instead... Cm4sci, it would be helpful for the community if you include a link when referencing information or rumors. Thanks. Personally, I haven't received such an invite nor heard about it elsewhere.2 points

Maybe I remember incorrectly, but I think most of the whining about the DeLorean was about it being a bad model not about over supply. Its retirement price spike caught most people off guard. The Saturn V will catch no one off guard.2 points

My son was too busy destroying things to waste money on LEGO sets that would be used as projectiles.2 points

If something appears to be ridiculously over valued, then it probably is. As always, the people who are buying up the expensive ones now with the idea that they can double their money by Xmas are the ones who are likely to suffer. If someone out there really wants to pay over 200 USD for one for a personal build or gift, then they are clearly a valued customer/fruitcake and you should make damn sure to sell them anything else you can - 10179´s, Chima Fire Bikes, Collector´s Edition City Fire stations....2 points

After the unfortunate recent events in Texas and Louisiana with Hurricane Harvey, I just want to let Brickpickers who live in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina know that we are thinking about them. I know our thoughts mean very little in the grand scheme of things, but get the Hell out of danger. You can always replace a LEGO set or TV...You cannot replace yourself. I am praying for you. Be safe and let that witch go out to sea... Ed and Jeff.1 point

Thanks for the help getting me started everyone. I've been open a week and have had 11 orders. I'm sure as things get picked over it will slow quite a bit, but it's pretty exciting right now.1 point

Yep, I got the same. Unfortunately out of the country and those FREECASH offers expire this coming Friday..... Did get a $10 off $25 generic coupon yesterday via text though, that one WILL be used (as it can be used online, in contrast with the FREECASH points which are in-store only)1 point

I've picked up some stuff with coupons and points. Stuff I didn't want to see disappear before the larger markdowns.1 point

Follow-up on this: chatted with Sears support who told me this order was cancelled due to a Processing Error. I guess that means they couldn't find the items in stock but were too lazy to tell me. Told her that the order wasn't cancelled as I got neither points nor GC balance refunded. Without skipping a beat she gave me the total purchase amount back in points (GC + sweeps points + Surprise points), and said "just reorder". Which I promptly did and the same set turned out to be on sale yay me!1 point

they were concerned you were dehydrated?? just kidding, does suck and has happened to a few others I know as well. I see it a lot in the returns loads. Got a nice heady duty bolt one time though. A box cutter and some other useful things over time. It's not just LEGO though, they do it to everything on Amazon.1 point

I'm not mad at this set. I bought three, all at MSRP and directly from Lego SAH. I got some kind of freebie with each, but I can't remember what exactly. I sold two for $260 each, and each during an eBay promo where I only paid $5 in fees. After paypal and shipping I probably cleared about $60-70 total profit. Definitely nothing to get excited about but It means that the cost of my personal copy (that I really look forward to building some day) was about $140 before factoring in the VIP points and freebies I earned, and that's okay with me. #notgreedy1 point

It’s the availability of modulars from Lego, that’s an effect on secondary pricing. I currently have a BB, PR, GE, DO and a PC on my desk. It’s all I have room for. Lego currently have Asquare, PR, DO, BB, PC available, not to mention Ninjago city and the fishing shop. People just don’t need to buy a retired modular to have a decent set up. And there have gotten to be so many, it’s tough to collect them all. Even if you have the budget, space becomes an issue. A couple of years ago, before BB, DO and Asquare, (and even the simpsons) choice was a little more limited and picking up a retired set or two may have been more desirable. PC I’m not sure about, for the casual or limited budget, there are just better options available at retail.1 point
