  1. I think you echo the sentiment of most Lego Star Wars fans. Most of us are excited for 75192 but couldn't tell by the negativity from the last few pages in this thread . ? "The rear end is ugly"? "the fins are too tall"? " the minifigs aren't enough" ?"my 10179 is losing its prestige /value "? "lego needs to stop rehashing Ucs sets" For the love of Lego can't we be glad it's not an exact remake like Death Star /winter village. Just recognize Lego saw a demand and provided us with the 75192. No one is forcing any of us to buy this , but those that don't want to shell out 1k+ for a 10179 will gladly get one. The negativity on BPer the last two years just drives me crazy. People used to be so happy and excited for new things on here. Overall I feel this is to test us AFOLs and how much of the focus their marketing and set designs should be geared towards. Basically how much money they can make off us for throwing a bone or two our way. Day 1 for me since I would gladly support more "super" sets that are meant for us big kids. I can't blame anyone for waiting til oct for double Vip tho but who knows how big a backorder there could end up being .

  2. the new falcon. I am excited about it. I am thrilled what it looks like. I cannot afford the old one. the newer one looks more detailed to me. I am happy to pay $800 to get this one and I do not care about its collectible long term value and what I can sell it for. I want to build it with my family and enjoy it. as a toy. I think there will be many people like me. yes things could be improved better or this or that but bottom line is I am thrilled and glad they released it. Yes I buy sell lego. this set is not about that to me. it is about fun. that is new thinking I know.

  3. After the unfortunate recent events in Texas and Louisiana with Hurricane Harvey, I just want to let Brickpickers who live in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina know that we are thinking about them. I know our thoughts mean very little in the grand scheme of things, but get the Hell out of danger. You can always replace a LEGO set or TV...You cannot replace yourself. I am praying for you. Be safe and let that witch go out to sea... Ed and Jeff.

  5. Lines at gas stations, water at the stores gone, Home Depot? Isle with plywood and other boards is empty, people sitting on carts waiting for delivery. Oh boy, I chose "perfect" time to move to Florida from a cushy IL. I've been here 3 months, fortunately I'm staying in 2 story concrete townhome. Got water, food, outside is my pick up truck that I'm hoping won't get destroyed. All my Lego sets were brought today from storage to the house, tomorrow I'll take them upstairs. Im a reseller scum but if I get stuck upstairs, no power, flooded first floor....I'll be doing a lot of Lego building...

  11. Let's be honest, when you've got: You have Chima sets still on the shelf, that have been retired for 2+ years, and they're still marked above RRP, You don't automatically PM your website (and PM'ing negates coupons and other discounts), You jack up the prices above RRP so that your sales aren't really sales, You have so many exclusions on your coupons, that you need a magnifying glass to read them, Your jacked up prices cause people to just go to the other big box store (Target, Walmart) that sells LEGO in the same shopping center ...you're gonna have trouble staying in business.

  13. It's called a buyout and it happens with collectibles all the time. It works when the supply is low--there aren't that many GBHs out there compared to something mainstream like the AT-AT. I don't think this unnamed individual cornered all the GBHs... just the low priced ones on Bricklink.

  14. But there is an apparent reason. Someone cornered the market. Check out BrickLink sales. This was a promo & not available for 5 years to the general public.

  15. Call to check on a big set like this used to cause a frenzy here. This thing would have vanished from target, amazon, and walmart in a couple hours and there would have been pages of discussion here. Miss those days. I suppose that kind of crazed speculation is what got us to where we are with these big sets...

  17. Thanks for creating a feed! Many of my loved ones are in the NC,SC, and FL area. A few tips if you live in the many expected flood zones. Your dishwasher is like a "flood safe". You can save things you have to leave behind like pictures, small safes, sentimental items, and of course important documents etc. It is waterproof and secure. Also if you are expecting a power outage (which I would) and are staying, your washing machine makes a great fridge. Fill with bottled water, drinks (whatever you need refrigerated.) top with ice. Keep the lid closed. Should keep you good for a couple of days and the water simply runs out.

  20. It's all perception and opinion. To me, it was the LEGO set that changed everything. It's the set that every other LEGO set is and was measured against and compared to. Don't hate on the 10179. It did it's job and will one day make some more money for some perceptive investors. The timing for the 75192 is off. There is much less buzz about this set than I thought there would be. Maybe it's the fact that people are still getting over the fact that they lost money on their 10179s or that the two sets are pretty close in design that there is no rush to buy a new version. Maybe it's the fact that the 75192 will not be the same investment as the 10179 unless there is some sort of short production run. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the 75192. I like it. Well done set. But to me, there is no rush to get one. Amazon will be selling them for $599.99 in a few months...LOL

  27. What's that all over Batman's cowl? Looks like a There's Something about Mary thing. On a serious note, I've never seen that before and I'm sure it's worth a pretty penny due to its scarcity. On the flip side, being so scarce, it would be hard to put a price on it but it's definitely worth a bit.

  32. I stopped buying modulars with PR so you might be right about future changes. Big issue with these sets is the ever expanding range with a new one every year plus a couple of sets that can fit in a modular city too. That removes the aura the original ones had. Fake copies and longer lives have not helped much either. We really need a suprise retirement to breathe life into this range for investors but it seems they are doing exactly the opposite by advertisig retirement well ahead of time.

  36. It’s the availability of modulars from Lego, that’s an effect on secondary pricing. I currently have a BB, PR, GE, DO and a PC on my desk. It’s all I have room for. Lego currently have Asquare, PR, DO, BB, PC available, not to mention Ninjago city and the fishing shop. People just don’t need to buy a retired modular to have a decent set up. And there have gotten to be so many, it’s tough to collect them all. Even if you have the budget, space becomes an issue. A couple of years ago, before BB, DO and Asquare, (and even the simpsons) choice was a little more limited and picking up a retired set or two may have been more desirable. PC I’m not sure about, for the casual or limited budget, there are just better options available at retail.

  41. Another personal purchase: All 3 Advent Calendars for $45.71 total (54% off) plus $15 in bonus SYW points from KMart/Sears. Needed some serious SYW magic, but in 2 orders, using a $5 off $35, a $10 off $50, a $10 back on $10 and a $5 back on $20, with $35 in Sweeps winnings did the trick. 6% discounted GC gave the final few dollars of savings.
