  2. The game is hardly over. You just have to learn what to pick and what to avoid. My general rule of thumb lately has been to avoid any set that is openly discussed here unless I can get it at a serious discount.

  8. What's more embarrassing than a grown man pulling his LEGO Box/Cart/Wagon??? A grown man carrying his LEGO Box/Cart/Wagon (to keep it from getting damaged).

  11. ed, we need just enough minifigs to fill the cockpit

  12. I don't want to get anyone mad here or think I am anti-minifigure, but I would rather see ZERO minifigures if it's not to scale. I think minifigures in an adult collector set like this only deters from it. Let's face it, how much playability will there be with this set?

  15. ??? And you combine all 3 UCS Falcons (2007, 2017, 2027) to make the MEGA MILF. Like Transformers or Power Rangers

  16. My girlfriend of 2 months (and tbh my first one ever cuz I'm a 19 y/o newb) got me 42064 Ocean Explorer for Christmas this year!! ?. She's one of these people that start Christmas shopping super early and I simply told her that I like LEGO and a few of the themes I liked. Next thing I know she tells me she drove to the LEGO store and got me a Christmas present and she really wants to show me what it is. So I let her. She also got me the batman brickheadz. ?????????????

  17. I speculated 2 years ago after TFA came out that the movie sets would have a shorter shelf life due to them releasing new movies every year with a corresponding group of sets to back up those movies. The MF went a lot longer than I expected as did Poe's fighter and the TIE. but I think with TLJ and HS coming before the Summer sets, they have to clear a lot of shelf space. Rogue One however fits right in my proposed new timeline. As the films ramp up with Episode IX, the speculated Yoda, Obi-Wan and Boba Fett movies as well as whatever animated series comes next. We're going to see a lot of movement in the next few years. Do the Rogue One sets have lasting power? I don't know. We have the AT-ST which will always have OT appeal, and it is a fine example of the vehicle. The other vehicles are likely to be buried under the giant pile of new designs that will be coming with the follow up movies. No matter how good they are, and I do actually like most of them, we may be reaching saturation. Look back to all the Clone Wars era sets that appeared in a small number of episodes, got made and then disappeared. Is there a lot of demand for all that stuff? I am not optimistic about future growth on the star wars properties. You need the more iconic sets like the UCS, but without them watering them down with remakes. The shorter shelf life may help out long term, but I kind of doubt any will realize 3-4X RRP. At best 2X RRP in 3 years is my feeling.

  19. If they are unique to the set, think of them as a discount, you can sell them and just keep the ship.....

  21. Guys, just got the information from RLFM member close to Lego that tomorrow will be official announcement and not the 1st. He already knows the price but he didn't wanted to share that with me but ended up tossing me over the phone "you'd better be sitting during that announcement" (price wise, he is a big fan of technic) so save the date.

  22. I really want (and still expect) an interior.
    2 points
  23. 2400 pieces is not a lot when you consider the potential size/configuration of the interior... maybe a small room, but certainly nothing earth shattering. Simpsons House is built mostly from larger (i.e. "normal") bricks .. the changes you can see from the pictures are pretty significant. The corridor to the cockpit (and the other side) has been changed a great deal - removing those plates and changing to curved bricks is a big change. Even if you said 1000 new pieces went to the exterior, 1400 is not much left for an interior and the structural changes required. I doubt there will be an interior given what we've seen.

  24. They are £100 each but I do like mine, if you are going to do it make sure you book! In regards to the supposed reveal of the MF on Friday do we know what kind of time during the day it's going to be?

  25. It's funny how opinions vary...I really like the look of the box. Looks more serious like earlier UCS boxes. Not goofy like the Sandcrawler.

  26. I notice that no Canadians have replied to this thread yet... The game IS over up here... we don't get (or super rarely get) discounts below 20% off so we just can't compete with US sellers and the number of resellers on Craigslist is astonishing! Almost impossible to sell on ebay due to fees, HUGE shipping costs, and the aforementioned US competition. I know that I'm not buying anything anymore except for personal building and collecting.

  29. maybe because if they produced for actual demand of this set it would disrupt production schedules for other themes even though these rockets sell better than anything, they can't just produce only these rockets. so they produce the amount they planned on doing , do a second run and maybe another run sometime next year. then pull the plug. the change in language on the website is identical to what happened with research institute which also demonstrated a similar pattern of inability to maintain any online stock for any duration. everyone who is so sure about availability throughout 2018 just because of what someone read on the internet or what some corporate guy was quoted as stating really needs to think again. of course they are going to say that. what happens if the guy comes out and says, well actually we are only going to do 2 more runs so make sure to get one quick. that will not go over well.

  30. I think I'm "in for one, on day one" if I can get it. My plan: buy it and gently take it home, and wait a few months. If the market goes nuts, and there's no supply in November... maybe I can make a few hundred bucks on a local sale. If not... well... I never had the original, and would love a chance to build the biggest Lego ever, especially in a Star Wars theme. I have no place to display it for long at home... but we're not much for Lego displays around here anyway. My son and I will build it for fun... display it for a month or two... then sell it for $500 or $600 used. Maybe discounts will come down the line, but hopefully retail price will hold firm for the first 6 months or so? That's a couple hundred dollars worth of fun to me. The question is... when is day one? Sept 1st? Sep 15th? About the wheeled box... I wouldn't be surprised if this wheeled box thing becomes a permanent option in the Lego store. I'm hoping it actually is a brown "open top box" they can fab up in-store, and load your purchases into it. Would be perfect for any big spender families who come in and buy, say, a Disney castle, a Technics Porsche, and a few other sets. It's hard carrying all those bags around the mall.

  31. At some point? I've been saying that since the last one retired. Take it with a grain of salt, though. I used to have a personalized plate in my car that said "B WING"

  34. after initial hype I just can't see this set moving well in store to begin with. The $300+ sets do not move quick as it is. Now throw another $500 on there. Other than a few die hards that want a perfect box I just don't see it.

  39. Besides the photo being unique to every set (doesn't have to be, but it can), are pieces also being picked specifically for each face? More of this color, less of that? I need color 'ugly' then...
