Finally built the 10244 Fairground Mixer and to celebrate it's Grand Opening it was Star Wars Day! The lines were long: Chewbecca was playing a game,: Emperor Palpatine was in a good mood waiting for his turn in the dunk tank: Father and son were enjoying an ice cream: The tall man was there: And with a temporary peace across the galaxy fun was had by all. I did not know how to embed the video: MOV00048.MPG4 points

We started to build all our random bad investments as we're in a suburb of Houston and stuck inside for at least the next 7 days of flooding:( we and neighbors are all safe at least. I wanted to go help out but can't drive even a mile to get to where help is needed. I guess it's good I had sets that stunk for investment so I do not feel bad opening them2 points

For resell? Read all 34 pages here and then post again if you have questions. TLM sets are rising in value but kinda all over the place. Dunno if any of these are a lock2 points

Here is a pretty good video of the 10030 build. I never owned this set and always wondered how the magnets were used and looked like (yeah, I never looked up the part on bricklink). It's just the train car magnets . Pure genius for that era of Lego.2 points

Thoughts Overall, it is a very solid build. Every thing locks in nicely. It is basically the gimmick mechanics surrounded by technic bricks with all of the sides attached. Head is attached with one technic pole. Contains mostly white plates of varying sizes. Has quite a few of the 1/4 circle flat tiles in the set in white. I don't have R2 anymore (otherwise I would have posted a photo), but this build had the same sort of feel, but was definitely more streamlined. I found the head assembly on BB-8 more solid than R2. Granted it is smaller but all of the pieces are locked in much better. The thumbs up gimmick is smooth and works great. I wish the blue arrow tip tilted just a little more outwards like it does in the movie but that is a nitpick. Head gimmick is good. Hard to control it since the dial on the side operates both rotation and up and down movement. I guess the idea is for his head to bob around a little like in the movie. Uses a single yellow elastic to achieve it. I am not a fan of the stand. It is basically a cross of plates with four slope bricks "holding" BB-8 in place. BB-8 is super solid standing on his own and the stand is really just decoration. No spelling errors on the sticker as far as I can notice this time. I always found display stands with name plates for anything to be quite silly. I mean if you spent all this money on the item, I would hope you would know who the character is. Would have preferred the specs in the manual like the other UCS sets in the last few years. The stand is probably only 50 pieces or so not a big loss, I won't be displaying it. Could have been cool if the made a sand Jakku base to go with it instead. As far as I can tell, it is the same BB-8 minifig as the Force Awakens set. I think this one is going to be very popular with kids and collectors. R2 was a great set, but this one is half the price and will be available at more stores (In Canada I could only get R2 from shop at home or Toysrus.ca). It also has the luxury of coming out in between two huge movies where as R2 was only riding on the Clone Wars cartoon at the time.2 points

set 75177 : First Order Heavy Scout Walker pieces: 554 £54.99, $49.99 i wonder if this set is going to turn out like 2015's Kylo Ren's Shuttle. The LucasFilm art and images used by the Lego designers didn't show the wings extended. it looks like to me the heavy scout walker's spider-like legs should unfold for walking. thus the word, "walker" in the vehicle's name. here's a review.1 point

They have not released the number of minifigs released each year since 2013. Its expected to be 1,500 each figure. 2 people I deal with that deal with high end minifigures both have told me 1,500 each for the last 3 years. We won't know officially from lego. 2012 was 1000 each 2013 was 350 each (Hence why my spiderman/woman is worth so much) 2014-2017 suppose to be 1,500 each fig.1 point

The past two years a buddy and I have been trying to figure this out. From the amount of boxes they put out and about how many sit in there we're thinking 1500 or 2000 total per character. Making it 750 or 1000 given out per day (since each minifigure has 2 days of distribution) However the Lego people haven told us, so just our speculation.1 point

If you sell through Amazon, and ship your product in by directly affixing your shipping labels to the product itself, and think this is ok, you need punched in the face. This is the second time my wife and I ordered a large kit from FBA and it arrived in a perfect shipping box, but destroyed inside. And not destroyed by Amazon themselves, but by the seller who though the product would survive being sent through the mail without a packing box. This was Destiny's Bounty for my son's birthday tomorrow, and upon opening the outer box, I see no less than 3 different shipping labels affixed to it, it was crushed, and damp/wet. Even worse, the packager at Amazon thought "hmmm, brand new and good to go!" when they received it, and then packaged it. Apologies, just wanted to vent.1 point

Are people south of the border actually paying a premium for this? Amazon.ca has had Costco's price matched for months now, can't imagine anyone willing to pay remotely close to RRP for this any time soon in Canada anyway...1 point

Poor photo quality but here are some recent builds: My wife built the brickheadz and supervised, by leaving me alone, the other builds. I am indifferent towards the brick bank and it seems like a miss to me. The white exterior doesn't go with any of the other modulars (use rustic or tan to show age) and it's far too short for a corner building which forces me to break open a second set to compensate. I understand the trend of smaller and more detailed but this took it too far. The mismatched exterior color is a poor choice as well because it forces you to buy other sets to hide it and the laundromat is a throwaway section. There are some nice design characteristics but it's a general miss. The GBHQ was built from a used set with all of the pieces sorted by color. This took forever to build but I really liked all of the references to the movie and I really enjoyed seeing it come together. This is a well designed set particularly with how it opens up to show the interior and the back wall is easy enough to hide. I don't expect this set to have huge value for resale after retirement but it's a solid piece.1 point

I applied for a job at Sam's Club late last night, and got an interview and the job the very same morning shortly after I woke up today. I'm only 19 and an off and on college student who's been unemployed most of the past year so this is a big deal for me.1 point
