Finished. Well I guess I need to see the movie as there is a lot of build here that I have no clue what it is. Besides being an amazing display set, it is very busy and seems to have something different to look at each time, there are some awesome modules that have great detail on the inside that you do not see unless you take them apart and explore, like Lloyd's apartment that just looks like a plain yellow building from the outside and the comic book store. It is not your classic Ninjago set and I still think ToA is my favorite in the theme. It is also not a classic Modular where you build one floor at a time, rather you build separate modules that attach to make up the floors. I think they did a great job of recreating the city from the movie using new elements, elements in new colors and existing elements in new ways, but will have to wait to see it. I am going to add the Ninjago green dragon 70612 tonight and some lampposts from the city chase 70607 should be arriving Monday. You get a lot for $300 with over 4860 elements, 16 minifigs, sweep and 2 suprise figs that are part of the build.15 points

This is so tiresome. "I'm going to sell in bulk! Let's see...I can get about $400 each with free shipping, if I sell individually. Therefore, the bulk lot should be priced at $28,000 for 70 sets! Done! I can MATH!" See this all the time on ebay. Amateurs.4 points

After my best ever Sweeps week (~$22 in points this week alone) I was able to buy the following using only Sweeps winnings (and a $10 surprise points on $50 offer): Gift Card was 6% discounted, so total out of pocket was $15.58 after tax. 76% off for a set that came out just last week, not bad. Personal purchase, so I'm okay with it not being free Thank you uncle Eddie!2 points

Not a set I've bought but got the instructions for Mirko Soppelsas UCS U-Wing MOC and ordered all the parts i don't have. Hopefully this will tide me over until 75192 hits the shelves. Not a cheap set of instructions to buy but the manual is a work of art and comes with a unique numbered tile as it's a limited release.2 points

Maybe it's my age, as the months come tumbling down before I turn 40, but a lot of my favourite mid size sets in the last few years have harked back to when I was a kid, Ecto-1, Mystery Machine, Benny's Spaceship. Look how happy Voltron made @Alpinemaps. Got me thinking to what sets I'd love to see made and I seem to keep coming back to tv sets from decades ago. Maybe this is what Ideas is all about, but I'd love to see a dedicated retro tv theme, here's a few of the sets I'd like to see: A-Team Airwolf Knight Rider Battlestar Gallactica - I know, Disney would never allow it Buck Rogers Magnum PI - Car and helicopter The Fall Guy pickup Dukes of Hazzard - PC means this won't happen Starsky and Hutch Wacky Races Mask Babylon 5 Can't believe such a crap set like BGGT got made, when there's so many more cooler sets out there to be made still. Love the fact that minifigures for movies/TV from these generations are creeping in with Dimensions, BA, ET, Beetlejuice, Gremlins, would love to see even more.1 point

I'm just going to copy pasta you, because exactly this. Hanna Barbera stuff would be awesome. You just need one iconic set piece from each with the main characters and you're done. Like the Flintstones car with four minis and Dino. Or the Jetsons "car." If you wanted to do a mega set, you could do Yogi's flying ark and include a bunch of the characters (anyone remember that?) Wacky Racers were also HB, so you could throw those in there too.1 point

Padda's reign at Lego didn't last too long. https://brickset.com/article/29843 The LEGO Group today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Niels B. Christiansen, 51, as CEO of the LEGO Group effective October 1, 2017. Christiansen was most recently CEO of global industrial technology company, Danfoss, a position he held for nine years until end of June 2017. Christiansen replaces Bali Padda, 61, a long-standing LEGO Group executive, who will assume a special advisory role with LEGO Brand Group. Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, Executive Chairman of LEGO Brand Group said, ‘Niels is a great leader who delivered outstanding results while CEO of Danfoss. There, he transformed a traditional industrial company into a technology leader. His experience in digitalisation and globalisation, implementing a transformative strategy, and creating an agile, high performing, international team will benefit the LEGO Group. The Board is confident that under Niels, the LEGO Group will continue to flourish and bring play experiences to more children around the world.’ Knudstorp said the transition to a new CEO occurred more rapidly than the Board had anticipated. "Bali has been part of the LEGO Group family for the past 15 years. He played an integral role in the turnaround of the LEGO Group and during his time as CEO created a solid foundation from which to continue to transform the company. He is a great friend and a wonderful ambassador for the LEGO brand," said Knudstorp. Niels B. Christiansen has spent more than 25 years in business leadership. He began his career at management consultancy, McKinsey and power tools manufacturer, Hilti, and became CEO of GN Netcom aged 33. He joined Danfoss in 2004 and became CEO in 2008. During his tenure, the company doubled in size to 39 billion DKK, increased its global footprint and transformed its portfolio in response to changing customer demands. Danfoss is a family-owned, Danish-based global technology company which specializes in infrastructure, food supply, energy efficiency and climate-friendly technology solutions. Christiansen said: "I am honoured to have the opportunity to join an organisation as iconic and purpose-driven as the LEGO Group. I have loved building with LEGO bricks since I was a child. As I look at the challenges facing this generation of children, the Group’s mission, to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow, is more important and urgent than ever. I am looking forward to working with the Board, the family and the LEGO Group team as we embark on the next phase of global growth." About Niels B. Christiansen Niels has broad experience leading large, global high-tech companies. He was most recently President & CEO of Danfoss A/S, a position he left in June 2017. Niels joined Danfoss in 2004 as Executive Vice President and a member of the Executive Committee for Danfoss A/S. He became Chief Operating Officer in 2005, Vice-CEO in 2006 and President & CEO in 2008. Niels began his career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. Following this he joined Hilti Corp as Vice President Corporate Development. In 1997, he joined GN Netcom, moving to the role of President & CEO in 2000. In 2003, he was appointed Group Executive Vice President at GN Store Nord. He is Chairman of the Board of William Demant Holding A/S and Axcel and a Member of the Board of AP Møller-Maersk A/S and Technical University of Denmark (DTU).1 point

Built the Friends Hot Dog Truck with my daughter the other day. Also, decided to move my 10030 ISD to another location for display and had to apply some CPR as it was trying to fall apart and die on me. The internal structure of that thing needs some serious Technic upgrades. Mine does not sag but the two halves need more holding them together.1 point

Finally got around to starting this last night. Did bags 1&2, no stickers yet, KAI and KONRAD figs with his fishing boat. A couple of elements in new colors to me they may be in some mixels or friends sets that I haven't built and one new element that is covered. Took me longer then expected because I had to line up all the imprints on the translucent light blue elements but looks nice. Plan on bags 3& 4 tonight.1 point

Agree. Holiday set is normally VIP amid-September with general release October 1. And the UCS MILF should be the other set. I'm betting a Sept 1 press release (Force Friday) with the on sale date being mid-September as well. Which hopefully means we will get some leaks for both in the next two weeks.1 point

Can we at least all agree to call this set UCS MILF? To distinguish it from the last one?1 point

Going to start this one tonight. Seal codes 23R7. It has 2 white boxes inside one with bags 1-4 multiples of each I will inventory them later for reference. Box 2 has bags 5-8 and bags 9-16 were loose in the bottom of the set box. Three instruction manuals sealed in a plastic bag without cardboard, 1 for each floor, I like how they highlighted the floor in color on the corresponding manual. They are similar to ideas manuals and have information on the designers, set, minifigs and history of Ninjago. Two sticker sheets, one unnumbered bag with various larger elements and one 32x32 dark grey base plate.1 point

Super Escort Girls is the lepar version of Super Hero Girls. As despicable as they are it's pretty hilarious. edit - On topic - I like the name. I would hope lego would stay with whatever the designer named it.1 point

I think it's the same as Chile. In Chile Lego has several branded B&M stores and also an online store, that is not part of LEGO Shop at Home. It's just an importing company that got the license of the LEGO brand to use it in Chile. Prices here are between 2-3 times US retail price. New sets take at least 6 month to arrive in store. You can make good profit buying online in the US and reselling here 30% or more cheaper than official Chile Lego price, specially with friends, minecraft, Star Wars and other licensed sets. There is not to much reselling competition, but also the market is not that big. Maybe I should move to Brazil, I think the market there is bigger. About the "no interest", the same happens in Chile, people buy everything and everywhere, splitting into at least 3 payments, sometimes even to buy something that costs 5 USD. There is no interest, but there are some "hidden" fees. And also people often forget to pay the second, third or whatever payment (they don't use banks and automatic payment) and then it goes boom, with interest rates of 50% and more. It's a very lucrative business managed not by banks, but by the big stores that give this type of "credit" cards to everybody.1 point
