  1. In January I picked up 6399: Airport Shuttle at an online estate sale. It was mostly complete minus baseplates (ouch!). I finally got it built tonight. It is a huge set and I can't imagine having room to permanently display it. Here are a few pictures. I need to order one more piece, clean it up, and get it sold! Here is a video of the train in motion: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8NDKxiGRhy1UlRGWW9qSnpOeVE

  2. Today we had a family day out in London to visit the DC Heroes - Art of the Brick. The models were so impressive, definitely worth a visit for those that are local. Here are a few snaps:

  9. Softball can be brutal. If we are listing injuries so you can feel a little better. I've done the following since being an older adult... (25 to 35 so I got a lot more to go through) Torn rotator right shoulder. Torn ac joint and other stuff left shoulder. Popped hammy right leg. Torn mcl right leg. But no broken bones ever and hope to god never a acl or achilles. I've seen them happen next to me and they snap when nothing is going on. It's so weird. It all sorta heals. But I'm still playing sports. It's just painful sometimes but you get used to it. I should have had surgery but opted not to. For anyone else, take the surgery, especially on the shoulders. I'm going to regret that decision. Get better soon though. Take the time to strengthen your upper body as it was something I did each time I got hurt (worked out the unhurt half). It just gave me something to do for exercise. Nothing over doing it but easy weights to not stress out too much.

  10. if you love it you will back just give it some time. once you miss it , you won't be able to wait to come back. I sustained a serious leg injury playing soccer 16 years ago ( dislocated ankle, torn tendons , 3 inches of my fibula were pulverized ), i had to undergo 3 surgeries and was out for 7 months, but the day the doc said i was a go, i was playing that night. feel better soon

  13. Tonight I sliced open 75052 Mos Eisley Cantina. Pretty cool set and surprised by its dismal investment performance thus far... What's not to love? Iconic scene setting, 8 minifigs, landspeeder, dewback, and vaporator. I think it's a great set and will go nicely with other Tatooine related sets.

  19. Silent Mary. Definitely not for everyone. Starts out as a mostly technic build. The hull is nice to build versus just putting together 5 solid pieces with a few technic pins in 30 seconds will have to see if the display of it grows on me. It is not a mirror symmetrical build so there are differences between the two sides. There are also "missing" pieces to give it that ghost ship appearance I think the only one I may have to add is the gold post that is part of the front railing. Not a fan of the breakaway mast and will probably mod that to be a little taller and fixed.

  20. I took my first season off in 21 playing 6v6 flag football this past winter. I'm 44 now and the glory days have past. Our core team has become 40 somethings. Running with the 20+ year olds was getting tough these past few years. I'm pretty sure I'll suit up again next season. I missed it terribly. Even all the aches and pains.. Found this awhile back from my rookie season. I could run like the wind and caught anything thrown my way. Now I'm the old fat guy looking for one last moment like Uncle Rico..

  22. As Bold Arrow said, if you love the game you'll be back. I've been out of basketball for the last 9 months (torn ACL) and was really wondering if I would have the motivation to play again once I was healthy. Low and behold I got cleared a few weeks ago and am back to it. It'll go by quickly, some Lego therapy will most definitely help as well

  23. Picked up a used T1, mini, Ferrari and Beetle cheap for building as I don't like to open new sets... It's great, I like it much more than I thought I would, displays so well. T1 next

  24. This Sandcrawler is prob my all-time fav lego set to-date. 75059 has a challenging design which leads to a fun build. It displays great (just omit the container door stickers) and has enough play features for the kiddies. No idea why a UCS plaque wasn't included. It deserved one since it's has tremendous display value and the complex build.

  30. With everything still working, you made an awesome score (assuming you got a good deal). When selling, keep in mind that the real interest for this set is not on EBay or Amazon, but on Bricklink. BL average sale price for a used 6399 is $500+; EBay would get you $300-500 before fees.

  34. This bit was extremely sad, & hit me like a slap to the face. There are boxes and boxes of Lego in my basement that I "haven't gotten around" to building. Instead of the constant obsession to find the next clearance price or sales opportunity, I'm building a set with my son tonight. Gather ye rosebricks, friends.

  39. Seen this one running on PF. And I have to admit, Michael Psiaki absolutely nailed it with design and final execution, THIS SET IS ABSOLUTELY BEUTIFUL! and the most important fact is that THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO STUTTER, No friction no jumps etc this construction with PF is running butter smooth. Can't wait to build mine and see what kind of "magic" is responsible for this result. Mike, good to have you on board mate. I'm very looking forward to see more constructions in the future from this Lad.

  41. I was able to pick up my first 75054 AT AT for $120. It is a used set but seems complete. Has the box, manuals, minis and all the parts seem there. Bags 6 and 7 are sealed with partially built legs.

  44. Something is fishy about these auctions, they always seem to go for too much money. I would trust it more if it were on eBay, but I'm sure they would get kicked off for items not as described. From what I've experienced from shopping at GW the employees don't have the skill to asses condition and price items. I've seen so many items priced at full retail that are missing critical components or broken. Maybe 1% of items slip through and get priced reasonably or far enough below market to make a buck. 90% is junk and the rest is okay if you need it for personal use. I think it's a mistake to siphon off all the good stock for online sale, leaving the stores full of trash. The whole point of thrift shopping is to find bargains- without those items there is no point in shopping at GW.
