Sold my last single 99c store Portal 2 dimensions set last night and just about out of dimensions altogether. Portal 2 buy in was an average of £4.34 per unit, shipped and taxed into the UK, sold most of them at £17 each. Had 225. I imported just under 400 dimensions all in, SD, JW, Homers and a few fun packs. Portal 2 was the real winner in both volume and pricing. I really should have gone in harder and my gut at the time said go in for more, but the risk at the time was 2 weeks to get them shipped from sunny Texas and 2 weeks to understand pricing and volume. So I held back. But still my eyes are wide open to the volume game now. Thanks to whomever it was who first posted about them.11 points

I made a quick overview in Excel just now using data taken from Brickset: I ignored the previous CUUSOO sets and only took the official Ideas sets. As you can see 21301 (Birds), which retired at the year-end of 2015, set a trend of Ideas sets retiring by end of the year. With a massive retirement of 5 Ideas sets all retiring by end of 2016! So I stick to my hunch that both Caterham Seven and Beatles Submarine could get retired by end of 2017 / early 2018.6 points

So I was able to buy a copy of the digital instructions file from brickbuilder. It was a backup file not meant for purchase, but order went through and I have a digital copy. Only caveat is no sticker sheet. Now what to do with a finished building that is a blank canvas.3 points

I had $10 in rewards expiring and I am still recovering from May 4th and Walmart clearance, so I picked up 75167 for $1.99 after the 20% off Star Wars sets at TRU.3 points

As a hockey player, I'd have to say that I don't think this will help him at all. Get a net, ball and street hockey stick and get that boy playing outside shooting the ball into the net! In all seriousness, I'm not sure if it's possible where you are, but skating 12 months of the year is key and ball hockey really does teach kids good stick handling skills and eye-stick coordination at this age because the balls don't behave as well as the puck. When they get older, ball hockey will simply be more for fun. The best hockey player in my age group <by quite a bit also due to his size> growing up used to shoot hundreds of pucks a day in his back yard from a sheet of plywood into a hockey net. Every kid is different and I'm not judging any parents who choose to let their kids have them. I am judging parents who let them bring these kinds of gadgets to school though... for goodness sakes, we should know better. I just don't think it would be good for my kids and their personal behavior. Besides, many of us could stand to put our phones down for large chunks of the day!3 points

Just when you think Lego is dumb, they add $7 to the normal price of a battle pack, b/c they know a ton of people will buy the bounty hunter set on day one3 points

fyi also seeing these at multiple walmarts in store for $19 on clearance which i have left behind. i bought a stack of 50% off of the last iteration of fire helicopter 60010 in 2013 from shop at home for $19.99. that set is just now getting to $47 FBA 4 years later - smells like a loser. other than having a motorcycle, this set gives me that loser vibe.3 points

This is one of my favorite sets I've ever built. And I've built a few. Additionally, the display value is tops.3 points

I use zip lock bags inside various sizes of these Sterilite modular drawers. Big sets (UCS/Modulars) I might split into multiple bags just like they come originally. If ther is extra room in a drawer it might have 2 sets in it. Zip lock bags would work with you current storage bins just mark the bags with what set it is and put it back in the bin.3 points

Our school bans all gadgets/toys/cards every year but parents keep letting their kids bring them. They're nothing but a distraction and the kids spend all their energy trying to figure out when they can play with their contraband when no one is watching.2 points

Check your local Toys R Us. These showed up at mine this week and the 20% SW discount applied. They had minimal quantities of the smaller sets, but the big ones weren't running out any time soon.2 points

Go find a few Facebook/Instagram/Twitter Disney fan groups, post your pics and a link to LEGO Ideas, and don't mention the movie, just mention the attraction in Disney World. You should have your votes in no time, seeing the reaction people had to the Disney Castle.....2 points

the promo art for the new movie is a tightly cropped closeup of a dinosaur eye - htf do they know this is indominus rex and not SUPER indominus rex? i bet it IS SUPER indominus rex. totally not the same thing and very innovative. the article is nothing but a shill to get some page views and certainly not something i would want to base any children's toy investment strategy decision upon. meanwhile TRU keepin da price down on this one by hauling out the phantom stock. spider is such a nice touch. retail irony. kids, don't take this one .2 points

With this fairground theme running along smoothly right now with Ferris Wheel and Carousel coming up, I think this could be a real winner when folks think they need the entire line. It's not as amazing to look at as the latter two, but it is a work of art in its own way with how it all packs up. Hopefully most overlooked it.2 points
