Latest UCS build. Adding the current Tie Fighter. As others have said quite a repetitive and boring build but solid and swooshable and quite impressive when finished. Great minifigure as well.16 points

Since the Snowspeeders were sold out when I went to the Lego Store Thursday, I had to backorder. Was hoping to build it this weekend, so in order to quench my UCS thirst, I broke open the UCS B-Wing I won in @Ed Mack's Christmas Raffle. Its pretty amazing. The real UCS sets are just leaps and bounds above all other SW sets. However, I'm pretty sure the designer had some kind of bet going about how many non-gray pieces he could hide inside this set. There are tons of red, blue, tan, and green parts buried in the guts. Now it's just wait and see how long it takes my wife to notice it's sitting on the foyer table, because I have no other place to put it.14 points

Yes please. I ended up with a total of 16 smaller bionicles. $15 FO Snowspeeders, $12 pegasus Sleigh, $5.60 Bionicles and then some coupons/discounted GCs. The system gave me the $5 back on $25 toys promo, so I'm probably going to have to email for my 75% back...9 points

Busy day. $50 local. Not a huge win, but now I can sell the NIB one I have stashed. Edit: And the kid sold me a used/complete The Mine 21118 for $20 a week ago, so I didn't feel like haggling much.5 points

Guaranteed that she'll notice. All Lego wives have this sixth sense when it comes to new sets being bought home in a clandestine manner5 points

Just fancied building something so I cracked open a 60146 I bought to get free postage on LEGO Shop at Home order. Then decided to mod it to make it more of a street vehicle, kind of like the SUV the extreme sports 4x4 is based on[i5 points

Isn't there an NBA law it has to go to game 7 to maximize ticket sales? When was the last time it didn't go to 7, and how often does that happen?4 points

I built 75171 Battle of Scarif. I really wish it were bigger. My first thought was to break out all my palm tree pieces and go to town, but then I looked at how puny the bunker was. I should have 2 more of these arriving soon. Plenty of pieces to really bust it out.4 points

There's also 15% back on apparel. I was able to snag a Star Wars Celebration Store shirt I didn't have the opportunity to buy when I was there.2 points

Silliness...you are forgetting the entire mental factor of the Warriors choking last year... and losing the first Christmas game. Cavs are in their head plain and simple and that is no easy feat to overcome in the NBA. Lebron is unstoppable, and Kyrie is the NBA's biggest X-factor. Draymond loses his cool again, Steph goes cold as usual in the finals - Cleveland in 62 points

I hope the A-wing pilot is for personal collection, because otherwise they don't have much value.... I bought one for 20% off a while back and returned it once I had time to review the BL/EBay selling rates and volumes. BTW, a Friends doll with rocket shoes - awesome!1 point

To make it worse John Lewis customer services have been appalling. First call the guy didn't care, second call the lady simply said return to store and buy another (price has gone up and they want me to do the physocal returning for them!). final email I sent got a poor response offering the smallest of discounts. Probably going to rethink ever buying from JL again, not just lego, but we buy lots of things there for family and ourselves (clothes, things for children, presents, household items). Also may not even bother with Waitrose anymore (same ownership).1 point

Even though they are heavily marketing the "ultimate collectors series" thing, I feel like TLG isn't targetting collectors anymore with these sets. By collector, I mean a person who expects a model which is the absolute best possible representation of a Snowspeeder in Lego, regardless of the cost (within reason). I feel like this model is not the absolute best possible representation of a Snowspeeder. That's not to say it isn't a nice model, but there are some obvious points that could be improved. Collectibility also implies exclusiveness / scarcity, which will not be the case for this set at all. Maybe my definition is wrong and they are going for a different type of collector or even completionists. Now I still think this is one of the best looking Star Wars sets out there. I think it looks better than the old one, though maybe it just looks more "modern". In any case, I don't have a 10129 so for me it's great. But I would have been happier if they did something new. There's only about 26 UCS sets so far, so it's kinda silly to have two duplicates already. If they keep them coming at this rate, we'll have a new Falcon, Y-Wing and Star Destroyer in the next five years. Meanwhile they could release AT-AT, A-Wing, Nebulon, Venator, Republic Gunship, Sail Barge, ...1 point

I just finished the Silent Mary and really loved building it. It was a very satisfying building without the premade hull. Most of the ships using the big hull pieces are so stubby and cookie cutter the same. This ship felt like a UCS Star Wars build with the internal technic frame and partial cladding and a lot less tedious than the Death Star II. This allowed the designers to make a slender tapering ship that seems to have much better sailing ship proportions. Obviously none of the sailing ships are to minifigure scale, but on this one nothing is minifigure accessible except the deck. I think that is ok since is allows the other features to be smaller and more to scale. I love all the gold. I have uploaded a comparison with the Imperial Flagship which is the biggest Lego sailing ship. You can see the Silent Mary is much shorter, especially since so much of its hull is out of the water by comparison, but it is only a few inches shorter. The real questions is whether it can eat the Imperial Flagship. As you can see, I think the Imperial Flagship is little to big a bite. Maybe just a bit off the flank.1 point
