  5. I got lucky with another Craigslist find today. I paid $125, so not the deal of the century, but still some gems, especially since some / most will be for my personal collection. More or less in increasing order of value (all used) A couple of pick a brick containers filled with random parts and a 32 x 32 base plate 6913 Blue Roadster (Complete with Instructions) 7288 Mobile Police Unit (Complete vehicle but missing some accessories, no instructions) 4431 Ambulance (Complete vehicle but missing some accessories, no instructions) 5766 Log Cabin (Complete with Instructions) 7346 Seaside House (Complete with Instructions) 4996 Beach House (Complete with Instructions) 5891 Apple Tree House (Complete with Instructions) 10216 Winter Village Bakery (Complete with Instructions) 10229 Winter Village Cottage (Complete with Instructions) The first few sets will head to eBay, but I'll definitely enjoy building the houses and will probably keep a couple (if not all) of them. The obvious real scores are the two Winter Village sets. We don't have either of them, so I'm pretty pumped about getting these in such good shape for a good price!

  6. Working fine for me on KMart.com just now. Bit of a sad way to celebrate 5,000 posts, but hey, a post is a post

  7. Sold a Racers Ferrari Enzo. Bought locally for £70 and spent £3 on missing parts and took some more flattering pics than original ad and thereafter sold for £170 with £1 FVF so cleared £90 for a 1 month hold. Was tempted to keep it but will quickly run out of space if I deviate from Star Wars UCS and modulars.

  8. But I just read on the blog that it will only help the 10196. ? Even the fear of the chance/potential for a remake is enough to hurt all the high flyers - and there's no turning back, that damage is done.

  9. Day 1 Purchase, beautiful set... but this part of presentation broke my heart. One does not simple, centre alignment.

  14. I considered doing that when I started BL'ing 10196. I considered making a pretty cool SW themed GC. So much so that I grabbed a couple of carousel organ music versions of Star Wars themes. I figured I would throw them into an iPod Nano, and brick up a spot to hide that and a small speaker. I'll probably do the same for 10257 but with regular carousel music.

  15. I kinda like the hand crank w/ PFA optional - It is cool for the young ones (and daddy) to see the functional aspect when you turn the crank, and know of all the inner workings. MOD's will be able to create all types of animals/vehicles/themes, etc - which will also be fun. I think I will need to consider changing things a bit to make a Star Wars Carousel (maybe incorporate some Microfighters sets).

  16. Ah yes, the ever popular LEGO manager information pipeline. That's always good for a laugh. There are literally posters on this board with significantly more credible information than the average LEGO retail store manager. Now I concur and believe that a 10179 remake is possibe, probable even, but I'm not buying any sort of corporate communication memo went out detailing the release reason as "hurting resellers"

  17. LEGO is so shortsighted if they are still making business decisions based on combating resellers. We are the least of their problems right now.

  19. Amazing set. Love it and love the animals vs. the weird looking horses from 10196. Color scheme is great as well. Love the dark and medium blue combination. Have we seen a definite price on this yet? At that piece count, this isn't going to be cheap. Really happy to be sitting on a pile of Fairground Mixers right now, this theme has been better than I imagined and the inevitable roller coaster will only help it. I would also like to see a drop tower with some pneumatics in it.

  25. One scam I'm seeing a lot on eBay lately (then again, maybe it's old news... I don't shop on eBay a lot)... I see hijacked accounts run dozens of auctions for $100 - $300 items - sometimes Lego, sometimes game consoles... whatever - all the auctions will end on the same day, at the same time. Clearly the seller is looking to collect what he can on that day, and scoot before Paypal figures it out. For the most part, pretty easy to spot: items always are stock photos from the web. Whenever you see a Lego Sandcrawler on auction with a stock photo, for example, just click on "See other items" from the same seller. You'll often find 15 or 50 other auctions ending exactly the same time... that plus seller history showing they haven't sold anything in a year = scammer.

  33. low seller count alert on amazon - only 35 sellers under the main listing. sub msrp clearance lowballers have been flushed. usual stocky heavy hitters seem to be missing in the seller lineup. already up to $37 . not a tremendously discounted set over its life - i bought a few for $23.99 and majority of stash on 50% discount at walmart for $15. would not be surprised if this makes it to $70 by November depending on stock levels. worth snagging if you can find on discount. juniors continues to outperform other themes in my portfolio largely because i think it is ignored by most investors

  34. They were going to have a face but then didn't want to use sticker on such a cheap item. They save those for the UCS sets.

  35. We´ve had 9 new large exclusives for the last 3 years and only 2014 had more retirements than new sets. Something has to give and at some point these two sets will have a sales slow down. We saw them both reduced last Black Friday, which could be a sign.
