I'm back from a nice little trip to Venice (Italy) and the Adriatic Sea. I browsed some shops and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this: (I don't know if it's visible, but the brown LEGO shipping box contained a 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon and there's a 10189 Taj Mahal, too.) And that selection was only the tip of the iceberg, they had almost every historic set. It was like a LEGO museum on the seafront of a small beach town. So I maxed out my credit cards and bought them all, right? Wrong! I guess they had all those sets because their prices were straight from Cloud cuckoo land. For example 10181 Eiffel Tower was € 4,990, 10187 VW Beetle was € 2,990 and 76042 Helicarrier was € 550. Insane! So I had to settle for these little souvenirs: (4) 75134 Galactic Empire Battle Packs @ 60 % discount (relatively scarce in Germany) (12) 41171 Emily Jones & the Baby Wind Dragon and (6) 41178 The Dragon Sanctuary @ 20 % discount (very scarce in Germany)7 points

Here's my brick linked set. Seller sent me the wrong round tiles so the only thing that's wrong is the over head lights are yellow instead of clear. Waiting for the correct ones to arrive. Haven't opened my Skiff yet so that's why Han's got the old hair [emoji4] Cute little scene! I love the red flooring in the hallway. May need to expand that. The official one should have really included a Leia.7 points

Managed to snag myself a bargain due to the remake. Also in mint conditions as well as box and instructions in impeccable condition. No yellowing of bricks as well. Will still be getting the remake but may not necessarily be a day 1 purchase now.5 points

I'm quite pleased with my unexpected haul. Thought I'd rub it in a little. Quality over quantity. I would've, maybe should've, grabbed more polybags but I wasn't expecting to find two extinct birds. And a great deal on some on the endangered list. All the new stuff was only 10% off and the princess was a whopping 15% over priced, but worth it.4 points

I had a similar experience the last time I was in Europe (I believe it was in Krakow). There was a really small LEGO store around Old Town with a bunch of really old BNIB exclusives at ridiculous prices. It was really nice to see them in shelves though, rather than on eBay lol. Bought Battle on Takodana today with TRU Rewards for my personal collection3 points

Although I don't disagree with your post @jaisonline in terms of the masses, personally I'm drawn to these sets that are little different. I like the prequel trilogy, expanded universe, yoda chronicles, freemakers adventures, etc sets. I'll take that vs. the 6th rehash of a popular O/T vehicle in most instances.3 points

Looks like those exclusives were US imports as the boxes all had part counts on them.2 points

From the article it just said "carousel" not re release, we really don't know what, if anything, is coming here. The argument that Lego can never refresh a set is tiresome, they've done like three Ferris Wheels, each better that its predecessor, at least 3 Maersk ships, don't even get me started on Star Wars or police or fire stations. It's been a decade, it's time for a new one.2 points

Honestly, if you're still holding a 10196 expecting it to continue to rise you may have some issues.2 points

I ordered myself an original version from the USA. Looking forward to keeping it closed forever2 points

Seems to be going backwards with the design my 2007 one did not require the see through technique parts which spoils the set.2 points

Okay, I've triple checked the parts list I just created with the instruction manual and the parts list in the instruction manual. I posted the list publicly on Rebrickable here: CELEB2017 - Detention Block Rescue You can go on there and export the list to a Bricklink XML. Open it in a Text Editor, copy and paste it into the Bricklink XML box, and you'll have a complete want list. NOTE: Bricklink doesn't like the Stormtrooper helmets or Luke's had that Rebrickable has in their inventory, that should go for this set. So if you need those, you'll have to manually add them yourself. This should hold us over until Bricklink approves the set, and a couple of us can verify the inventory.2 points

Finally got to finish my Batpod 5004590. Managed to get all new parts, some were spares, others from Lego and bricklink, the dark pearl grey shield pieces from a small stack of breaze flee machines I found in TRU. Thankfully I sold the spare pieces in groups of 6 to help bring down the price of the build. Think it came in around 40ish quid.2 points

The thing with the UCS sets having these stickers is that it takes me back to making models when I was a kid. There is a certain pleasure to getting the sticker on "just right." Lego seems to be crossing into model-building terrain with many of their sets over the last decade or so. As an investor, sets are kept in boxes so it doesn't really matter if they have stickers or nots. As a builder, I usually build it once without the stickers, see how it looks, and then invariably end up taking it apart and rebuilding it with the stickers. More building bang for the buck, I feel. However... stickers on a clear pieces, like the cockpits of Slave-1 and the X-wing? Those are nightmares. Lego, please stop the nightmare.1 point

Even if the price was $100 or even $75, not sure if many folks / kids will be lining up like herds are of cattle for the set. The set does look cool with decent minifigures but it's an unpopular ship from the worst SW film ever (including the Ewok films).1 point

Well, I've had my eye on this for awhile. Just bought the 21050 Architecture Studio for $91. Used up my eBay bucks and got the 8% back. I feel as someone who works in the industry, it never hurts to have the Architecture Studio around. Strictly for professional and working reasons of course.1 point

I had $50 in TRU Rewards and couldn't help myself. 5x Crossbones and 1x Infernox Capture the Queen for $30. I wasn't going to get the Infernox, but with my rewards bringing the total down, I was going to have to pay for shipping. And for reference, it looks like Crossbones is C2C at SAH and OOS at WM and Target. Goodbye my friend...1 point

just simplify your listing, you have to many words in title that don't need to be there just for sake of using the characters. You can put them down in the body if you want as it will still search from there but for title keep it simple. Look at the figures that do pull up in LEGO 76067 and you can see they are briefer than yours. The other figures that are pulling up are because they are in sets category instead of minifigures so LEGO 76067 is pulling them into that search as it associates that with a set. Honestly the sets is what is pulling the others up the most for that reason though with just those 2 words used as search criteria. Then when you try LEGO 76067 Minifigure it pulls up 37 listings and the top listings of those are ones listed in the minifigure category and it bumps the ones listed in the sets category to bottom. You are towards the bottom of the ones in the minifigures category though which reflects back on title and sales. Obviously sales will bump it up highest but improved titles can bump it up as well.1 point

I still feel all the doom and gloom is just being overdramatic. I honestly doubt there will be a huge crash in the lego economy like the recession. It'll be more of a correction in the sense that profit margins will get so thin, that it will naturally thin the herd or those casual investors, or those that don't know what they are doing. Eventually once those people that have no idea what's going on and all fire sell their stuff, and those that can weather the storm will be just fine. Yes I understand people's fears of remakes, but honestly, out of the thousands upon thousands of sets Lego has produced, they are still releasing cool new fresh sets. (This year being an odd one, only because the last 3 exclusives IMO suckkkkk major you know what.) Look at the new technic sets, possibly Big Ben, etc. We already had fantastic models in the GBHQ and brick bank. I feel the worry should start happening when everything becomes a remake or a direct copy. The Death Star, could still be significantly different enough to not hurt any value from the previous two iterations. If the Carousel is true, I doubt, that no matter how different it'll probably hurt the value of the old one. (I differentiate between the two, only because Star Wars fans will pay a price to have a complete UCS collection no matter who you are talking about, and I don't think the people who generally buy the fairground theme are going to exactly be clamoring to have both version of a carousel.) With the snowspeeder, just like the X-wing, I expect that one to take a hit a bit, but I don't think too much, only because of some of the parts and rarity of them will keep the prices high. You guys are also going hard on the speculation as if you know exactly what's coming out. I think you guys need to calm it a bit and just wait until more information trickles in and go from there. One thing I can say about this site, is that even though it has quite the significant amount of members, you know a bunch aren't active, and as far as the entire country/world is concerned, we're smaller than a drop in the bucket. The normal person doesn't follow the news and rumors and everything like we do out here. Most people will just walk into a store, and see a set they like and buy it. I will bet you anything that most people, probably don't even know that some of the 'remakes' are even remakes at all. I know when I first got into this game, I never realized the sets that I had missed out on in the last decade until I discovered this site and did more research. Mainly because I became a fanatic again like when I was a kid. So without knowing, the first few times I walked into a Lego store, I never would've known if anything had ever been released before.1 point
