Good morning everybody, time for another Wild Wins Wednesday! No Doorbuster yet, but for a quick $1 doorbuster, check your Win It! app, make sure it has been updated recently, and look at the right top corner of the Win It! game grid. There should be a label saying "Bonus Game" with a Yellow circling star. Press it, then press the green button to start a bonus game. Gave me points, plus a $1 DB. (The green button was 75% hidden under a Google Ad that I couldn't remove, but still pressable).5 points

Bought 853552 Friends Hand Foot Fun for 50% off at a LEGO Store ($12.49.) Looks like this set came and went very quickly in 2016. Very little sales history on eBay, but how could I say no to a set called Hand Foot Fun?5 points

If the new UCS Falcon was $800 and significantly larger in pieces and more detailed, that would be very good news for LEGO and all of us.4 points

Just stick it somewhere discreet lol. I had the same issue with my Sandcrawler(exact piece too, except brown) and just stuck it on top as a hood ornament. I remember, that is a fragile beast.4 points

Finally got to finish my Batpod 5004590. Managed to get all new parts, some were spares, others from Lego and bricklink, the dark pearl grey shield pieces from a small stack of breaze flee machines I found in TRU. Thankfully I sold the spare pieces in groups of 6 to help bring down the price of the build. Think it came in around 40ish quid.3 points

Okay, I've triple checked the parts list I just created with the instruction manual and the parts list in the instruction manual. I posted the list publicly on Rebrickable here: CELEB2017 - Detention Block Rescue You can go on there and export the list to a Bricklink XML. Open it in a Text Editor, copy and paste it into the Bricklink XML box, and you'll have a complete want list. NOTE: Bricklink doesn't like the Stormtrooper helmets or Luke's had that Rebrickable has in their inventory, that should go for this set. So if you need those, you'll have to manually add them yourself. This should hold us over until Bricklink approves the set, and a couple of us can verify the inventory.2 points

Nope, not if your plan was to say buy a $45 item and use $5 in points to get it down to $40. I am no expert and still learning through the apprenticeship of studs like @MinifigW , @Phil B, and @Sfcommando14, but there are other methods to sweeten the deal so that you never use your own credit card on freelego.com. For example, on Monday I was able to get the 75156 Krennic Shuttle for $48.05 after tax with $49.57 back in points thanks to purchasing a GC through a certain affiliate.2 points

Weird. It's there for me now. Yeah, don't let the wife know. Or my wife know. Because I'll be spending the new few weekends painting instead of doing the 10,000 other things on "the list."2 points

the latest lego ideas project to reach 10k votes has a very sad story to it. there is a good chance it will be picked regardless of the MOC designer's illness. it's a sound design that's not over complicated (elements, cost to market, etc...) and promotes better health (sun exposure in this case). https://ideas.lego.com/projects/155367 https://ideas.lego.com/projects/155367/updates2 points

Walmart has started their "Discount" program for picking items up. (Mods feel free to move this if there's a better place for it.). From what I am seeing, it doesn't apply to very many sets.2 points

Don't think so. You'd have been the fruitcake if she tried to counter and then you told her off for not understanding that no means no. At least your buyer waited until after you passed to unleash the pathos. I had someone on a classified app give me the Easter story up front with their low-ball offer. Which was still better than the person who made a low-ball offer and responded to my counter by repeating their original offer with a "please."2 points

LEGO is a toy company, who benefit from their toys being collectible, but in the end want to sell toys. Yes, they are re-releasing some "classics", but only those which they think will have immediate, broad appeal and will sell past their production targets. I doubt they will start re-releasing more obscure sets as mentioned before. SW is hot right now, and unless LEGO has a commitment to resellers (which they don't) they would be stupid not to cash in and release a flagship set based on the flagship of the franchise. I often get the impression many of us here think LEGO is making short-sighted decisions, but I don't think they do. They have obviously factored all aspects of their appeal (both to kids and adults) into their product development, plus they are obviously aware of their status as a collectible product, and have many examples from other brands to look at and learn from. If LEGO thinks the time is right to make another MF UCS, I bet they have data to support it will sell well (compared with their targets). The "old" MF UCS will still have value, after all, it was the holy grail for so long, and if you collect you need that one. There might be a small bubble popping for those who bought at $2-$3k with the intent to resell, but for those who bought at retail there remains a nice amount of profit (granted, smeared out over many years) to be had. And if anything, the next holy grail is already out there, be it Taj Mahal, Grand Caroussel (though rumors on its replacement are also swirling), Green Grocer, etc. The thing is, the more people sour on investing in the larger sets (which is what I sense is happening right now), the more likely it is that in 5 years from now one of the currently retiring sets is the next UCS MF. Especially if TLG has to downsize their portfolio since the whole TLM surge in popularity is by now gone - some sets just won't be made again for a long time. Net, this is not the end of the road, just another inevitable change in the marketplace. Adapt or else ....2 points

I posted a few days ago that stacking worked, so I assume that is still true. Just make sure that what you buy is not marked Hot Buy or Clearance, as coupons don't apply to those (the $10 back on $40 should though) . Edit: Ninja'd!1 point

Re: BN clearance: Just thought I'd let you locals know. I stopped in the BN in S. Charlotte / Pineville today. Cleaned them out of the 60080 Spaceports. Left them with plenty of Minecraft, at least 6 Gen Grievous, and some other SW constraction sets.. They might have had a few other odds-n-ends, but not much really.1 point

It's a hot buy, but from a math standpoint, it actually pairs nicely with the Carbon Freezing Chamber - which is not a hot buy and eligible for the $5 off $20 toys coupon found on SYW. Total after coupon before tax is $42.37 & enough to get you over the $40 threshold to trigger $10 back in points. Combined, that's 44% off RRP w/ $10 back in points. Not too shabby1 point

Yeah. take a look at the piece difference between the box and Bricklink sometime. Bricklink counts full minifigures as 1 part, LEGO counts the individual parts (torso, arms and hands are one, hips and legs are another.) Figures with a lot of accessories like say cragger that has head, torso, legs, helmet, armor, chi and cape are 7 parts on the box.1 point

In my opinion, the bogus bricks copycats are the most detrimental factor to the 10179 market and the reselling market overall. All one has to do is look at the recently sold on eBay. People are buying this junk. I do have some experience to back up my opinion as I bought and sold at least 25 - REAL 10179's in the past two years. Last year at this time (pre-remakes) I would have the used 10179 that I just received from eBay or Craigslist sold within a week; ranging from $2500 to $3000 profit of $400 to $500. Most within 48 hours and mostly to overseas buyers in Singapore or UAE. Since the remakes (and even before official 10179 remake confirmation) I STRUGGLED to sell one at $1800 couple of months ago. Just my experience, but these remakes have changed everything.1 point

10 years...10 years have gone by since the original in 2007. Did anyone really think this would be the Holy Grail of kits forever and LEGO would 'honor resellers as the kit soared to $10,000'? HA! I can't believe it took LEGO this long for a remake. I sold my last one two years ago sometime before The Force Awakens. LEGO didn't 'do it to hurt resellers'. They did it to make money. Disney bought Lucas Arts to make money. How old is Mickey Mouse? Nearly 90yrs old, and Disney successfully lobbies Congress to extend US copyright laws every single time Mickey's copyright is about to expire. Also Disney has publicly stated there will be a new Star Wars movie every two years. Do you think that means new starships and new characters every movie? Disney will rehash and rewrite the original characters a million times for 90yrs, just like Mickey, until Han Solo's great great great great great great-grandchildren are flying the Milennium Falcon, and LEGO will follow suit on the gravy train and rerelease the Falcon in all forms and themes. Heh...LEGO has been re-releasing Star Wars starships, vignettes and characters many times over even before Disney bought Lucas Arts and started the turning the wheels on the bi-annual cash machine. If anyone thinks any Star Wars UCS kit is sacred and off limits to be reproduced, then you are in for a cruel eye opener.1 point
