My kids’ birthday is coming up soon and Dad does not like to give the usual gift bags. Last year I found Mixels on sale and mixed in (no pun intended) a few Series 15 minifigs for the gift bag thing. This year the Target BOGO 40% sale hit at the right time and a bit of inspiration hit me. Today I bought two of the 61034 City People in Park sets for $47.18 total and got the minifigs I need for the birthday party. Looking forward to keeping the leftover minfigs for us! Maybe this post will help other BPers and give them ideas for their kid’s birthday parties. This community rocks!10 points

I'm in Canada visiting family for Passover - stopped at a Lego store and got Joker and Batman Brickheadz along with the Y Wing and U Wing Microfighters. Because of the price in Toronto it broke the $50 canadian barrier and I also got a Beetle Promo set. With the US Exchange rate I ended up getting all of that for about $43.50 American.4 points

Trying to contribute more, this is the latest MOC I've completed. It's been around a few months and I'm trying to figure out how to get better pictures while having no lighting equipment. It's a Neo Futuron spaceship named "Deep Space Sentinel." I had the trans-blue dome panels from old sets and I've always wanted to make a spaceship cockpit with them. It got a little bigger than I'd originally planned. The hardest part was getting a stand built. It meant I had to keep it mostly un-assembled while I figured out a decent stand. I want to do the same thing with the other 80's-90's space themes; make giant spaceships.4 points

Proposal: create a mirror thread called Daily Deals Discussion. Put some code in that copies each entry in DD to that thread (and a sticky to the DDD thread in DD). Then moderate the DD and delete non-deal posts, while allowing discussion in DDD4 points

As with most Lego promotions, you must spend a required amount of money to get the 'free' item. Many folks also use promotion stacking on http://shop.lego.com which is the process of spending just enough money to earn multiple promotional items. After waiting too long to order products at shop.lego.com to obtain the popular 40252 Mini VW Beetle promotion (sold-out online), I visited my local Lego mall store. This store had current promotional sets available including 40252 and the 40265 LEGO Friends Tic Tac Toe set. The purchase requirements were to spend $50+ for the VW Beetle set and $20+ in Friends items for the Tic Tac Toe polybag. Both are popular items and make nice child Easter gifts (especially for my 2 children). While paying, I was told my $62 ($21 of that for Friends items) worth of Lego products wasn't enough to cover both promotional items. The cashier told me their store were given strict rules to enforce around promotional items and I needed to pick one. I ended up going home with the 40252 Mini VW Beetle set. After arriving home, I double-checked if Lego's web site still allowed promotion stacking. It did after added one $59.99 Friends set in my cart. Both Tic Tac Toe and City Helicopter (replacement for the sold-out VW) promotional items were in my cart. I then read a 40252 Mini VW Beetle review where MeganL from brickset mentioned she was able to get both promotions by "doubling up" at a Lego store. http://brickset.com/article/27432 To further determine whether my experience was a mistake or an unannounced in-store change, I contacted Lego customer phone support today. The nice representative informed me that other customers have called with the same question after being denied at their store. At least one store manager told this same representative she was given rules to deny promotions stacking. Her customers could only receive both promotions if they spent $20+ on Friends items plus another $50+ on more Friends or another theme. Please let us know how your local Lego store is currently handling promotion stacking and if it's different than past months. Disclaimer: Not all U.S stores may follow the new rule regarding promotion stacking. Lego's online website, https://shop.lego.com/ automatically stack promotions in the shopping cart before order check-out. Additionally, some stores haven't allowed promotion stacking since their grand opening.2 points

saw this built in store today and wow! I went from zero interest to hubba hubba. Not sure I have it in my budget or any space to display it (especially with the impending Snowspeeder) but if I can get a good deal on this someday I definitely want it. Are there pics online of this ship next to the previous 2 POTC ships? I missed out on those but would be curious to see the comparison1 point

The boxes will show "do not open until may 1st"....to that effect. So, unless an employee just doesn't pay attention to the rules or they have none on the shelves and get an exception, good luck. Or, just ask when you get there.1 point

That post is from this past December. All the indications seem to be that everything that was previously announced will still be released, but there probably won't be a third year of releases.1 point

Does anyone happen to have a program or bot they use that they use for checking local Walmarts they wouldn't mind sharing? Similar to what BS does or brickpickers target checker. I technically have all the coding for it but I don't speak the language. If anyone does and is willing to share please PM me. Sorry I know this is a bit off topic. Alternatively, if anyone has knowledge of json, java, and all that fun stuff and would like to work together by all means I'm for it.1 point

On my CL everyone seemingly over prices their Legos. I live in San Diego, so this probably makes sense. Everyone has a couple sets, checks eBay and lists their lots at double. Also a lot of garbage "1 duffle bag full of Legos" in which you have NO way of seeing anything. There was a comment about the bulk seller's photos being disorganized, ironically they had their lot the most organized I have seen so far, easy. haha Seems like its a tough city to get any good deals in general, but its the nature of the game I guess. I reckon both will be done in q4 this year so you should hold on till then - what difference does 6 months make when they have been kept for years? Both of them have substitute models in the Beetle and Big Ben and this year was the overlap.1 point

Here are some ideas on how to get great deals using the above coupon: Depending on whether the coupon counts the pre-promo price or the post-promo price before applying the $5 off (I've seen both happen), you could get 2 $15 sets for $16 total (or 2 $20 sets for $27 total if the $5 off $30 applies AFTER the 40% off). Especially if the BOGO40 stacks with already reduced pricing, this might be very tempting. Again, depending on how the $5 off $30 applies, this could net you 3 fun packs for $16 or a starter pack for $25. The coupon can be reused, but max 1 coupon per transaction.1 point

My pocketbook hurts after my last two purchases: 75137 Carbon Freezing Chamber - $0.00 (ok, $15.58 before tax and SYW rewards points) 41118 Heartlake Supermarket - $0.29 (ok, $19.29 before tax and Meijer Rewards) My current KMart points streak is still going strong, but as of now I have purchased $461 of LEGO (MSRP) for $177 plus $15 in points earned thru Fandango (all other points are internally generated in the system by playing Sweeps and using points back coupons - an average of 62% off of MSRP. All small sets, a total of 21 sets, most of it 2017 releases. This is just the last month (since beginning of March). Love that store1 point
