One of my FBM trip wire listings sold over the weekend. For those keeping track, we have a 3x RRP Speed Champion: 75899 LaFerrari - $45 (Buy-in $11) Note: A couple FBA sellers took notice and it's back down to $426 points

Bought 2 a while ago when they were -40%, built them, and modded them. Raised the arc by 2 1/3 to fit a train through, raised the pilars by 3, and took out all the moving parts. Shortened it to 80 studs to fit well into a Lego town, train running in between the modular houses (Pet shop works well here at 16 wide)6 points

I have had a few Big Buck sets bought with stolen and hacked credit and paypal accounts, now I always got my money back, so what I been doing now anything over $400 I will get the buyers contact info and call them and ask if they really did buy it, I sold a SSDS yesterday and called the person to confirm that they did purchase it, since January I called 2 winners on a SSDS and 10212 and both said they didn't purchase it and had there paypal account hacked. I'm going to assume a Police Helicopter transporting a law breaking cabbie to finish off the set. No heli really makes the set feel incomplete.5 points

I'm glad I made an impact. On a side note these could have been had for $8.97 for about 5 minutes Friday on Amazon. I adjusted my price to 80.97 and forgot the zero. Had 25 available for a couple minutes. Very tense situation.3 points

I did my good deed (and pseudo-fruitcake) for the year on Friday, in honor of Saint Padraig... One of my favorite regular customers made me an offer of $15 for a 75099. I decided to counteroffer for less at $13.50. She was nice enough to message me and suggest I may have made a mistake, but I insisted my counteroffer was final and I wouldn't budge3 points

Might go well with TRU's LEGO Super Heroes Spider-Man Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge 76057 @ $75.99 before code. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-Super-Heroes-Spider-Man-Web-Warriors-Ultimate-Bridge-76057-/1724433061872 points

Plane was from online purchase with store pick up, used points to get it to $10. so went to pick it up today and found minifig bags plus Battle pack which was 20% or 30% off of $12, 71011 bags were over $4 but used points on them and on the Battle pack so for 3 x 71011 and SW Battle pack I spent $15.2 points

If you don't fully link your eBay/PayPal (i.e I require my PayPal password to be entered after a purchase), you can just close your browser before completing the payment. eBay considers the sale as having occurred but they effectively abort the payment by not completing the PayPal portion. My guess is they sided him with because he has good feedback and probably sweet talked an eBay rep on the phone. He could have simply claimed "I really thought I paid for it" and since eBay CS can't see what happens on the PayPal side (wasn't it really clever for them to slice the businesses apart...) its his word against nobody (ie PayPal). eBay doesn't like to admit their system is flawed as we all know. Really, it's a PITA but not overly serious in the grand scheme of jerk buyers.2 points

Right. Smack in the middle the Item Specifics say Lego Character: Boba Fett, Brand: Lego. And you are right, it is listed in a Lego Category. I'm going to screenshoot this before it gets altered.2 points

I have this one kid who has messaged me at least 50 times the past 4 months with half my asking price on offerup. He can't drive so wants me to deliver it to him the next town over on top of it lol. I'm in no hurry to sell , but I have to admit he's wearing on me though with his willingness to not give up. I'm probably gonna chalk this one as my good deed for the year.2 points

With the way security is setup on eBay, logging in to your account from the same network on a regular basis should decrease the chance of somebody else taking control of your account.1 point

Yes I was worried for you as well. It is best to not open a INR if there is a delivery scan in your zip code. It is best to go the SNAD empty envelope route. Ebay does not take the time to investigate anything. Kudos to you for the hard work. Yes I was worried for you as well. It is best to not open a INR if there is a delivery scan in your zip code. This was a simple BIN. I guess I shouldn't have said BIN "auction". There was no bidding. I don't have that option in any of mine. Everyone BIN of mine has the box checked for immediate payment required. So, maybe this was an Ebay glitch that allowed him to not buy it, yet still show it as being sold.1 point

REAL collectors will do the leg work to make sure they're not buying a fake item on eBay (not saying they can't be scammed). CHEAP collectors will buy the fake even when the listing says it's compatible with LEGO because they don't give a damn. To say one customer base (eBay vs Amazon) is more edumacated is totally ludicrous. Millions of people shop online now. They are all getting the benefits of googles years of search engine work to find marketplaces and cheap prices. "Uneducated buyer" is a total misnomer these days. Lazy is the word I prefer. Lazy people get scammed on all selling platforms. *edit - just to add that good buyers do get scammed but it's usually by a fraudulent listing rather than being too lazy to read the damn listing and has nothing to do with eBay vs Amazon *1 point

Not sure if I'm missing something here... I've read this thread over a few times... I see a lot of reports about scammers getting their product for free, but the sellers - for the most part - have been protected by eBay / Paypal. Sure there were a couple posts about sellers "getting scammed out of" an expensive set, but the posters didn't elaborate much on who paid the bill. And yes, some have posted that it took a couple phone calls, and " an hour" of their precious time to get their money back from Paypal... my violin plays for you. But until you've been ripped off selling on Amazon (like I have), most of your stories look like a "win" to me. Sure we love our precious Lego sets, and hate it when a scammer gets them for free, but it hurts a lot less when Paypal pays the bill. I sold 18 valuable sets (over US$100) on Amazon during the holiday season, and was scammed on 2 of them. That percentage loss is way to high for me. Amazon took my money, sided with the buyers, and ruined my selling metrics, despite my following every rule in Amazon's book. After much effort, I was able to (arbitrarily) get one of them reversed, but still lost the other. And by "reversed" I mean I got my money back, but am still carrying the black mark on my metrics. Since then I've stopped selling high dollar items on Amazon. My eBay account had been asleep for months, but In the past six weeks, I've sold 19 items on eBay, (range $20 - $500, avg. about $150 each). If the shipping screen says "eligible for seller protection", I box it up and ship it out immediately, and have never rested easier. If I had sold these items on Amazon, I might have made 5 or 10% more on each sale, but all it takes is one Amazon "buyer" to claim the Town Hall I sent them was fake, and I'm out $400, and (potentially) get my Amazon account shut down for life. For me, the best place to sell is is eBay (I've never tried selling on BL).1 point

I had to change the thread title from 2016 to 2017. I think I changed it from 2015 to 2016, too.1 point
