  6. The first set bought online was the research institute set. I bought it for my kids and a few for gifts. I will for sure buy the new woman science set too. Not because I am a feminist, but because I am a woman who is a scientist and the price point is great for gifts. There are plenty of small to medium police, fire, ninja, and Star Wars sets which Lego keeps making as they keep selling. This set will sell well for lego and I doubt they care about resellers much. plus it goes to their core image as a company that promotes STEM and educational learning.

  9. I find the first area with the data reel computers interesting and like the last one with the satellite & nice shot of space. Neat the symmetrical book stacking in the second vignette nodding to the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947. No human being would stack books like that. An altogether nice assortment of characters in my opinion. Yes, I am going to be that guy. Also to note for the record, I hate how many negative connotations the term "feminist" has taken for a word that simply means "a person who supports the belief that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities." Besides let us please not turn a friendly discussion over a simple LEGO set into some bizarre nonsensical farce that does not belong here in the first place.

  16. Ok, first this set is just on it's way out and probably won't dry out until end of april. That's not out of the norm for a lot of Star Wars sets. A few years back, people were still getting Republic Gunships, AT-TE's, and many other sets into late spring, and those sets are close to triple the buy-in. Same could be said for sets in 2012 like the X-wing, and MF. Second, the retired Force Awakens sets have something going for them.. The new movie is out later this year and that will spike demand for the previous sets, and by then there will be a scramble by the non-collecting afol-in-waiting, but just re-inspired hoarde to go and purchase sets like the FO Tie Fighter, this set, Leia's ship, the x-wings, MF, etc. By then those sets will be hard to find. That's why I think it could be a good bet to stock up now on TFA sets, because Lego is going to be having their hands full on producing this years winter wave, the upcoming summer wave, the last jedi and the Han Solo movie sets! The Force Awaken sets are heading out. Here's the other great thing. It was recently announced by Star Wars.com that the Han Solo movie will stay with a memorial day release date, which means it will come out 6 months after the Last Jedi. This is a good thing, because Lego will not be producing a lot of redundant sets for the Last Jedi, since they will be moving on to the Han Solo movie. The Last Jedi will see 7 sets for the September 1st launch, then maybe a handful of battle packs and a few other sets in winter, before the Han Solo film takes the stage. New sets from the Force Awakens and Rogue One might not happen after this summer until perhaps summer of 2018. It will be a good time to be a flipper.

  22. Reverse side doesn't seem to be available online yet. Hopefully soon. Once it's out there, I'll add it to the first post. @exciter1 weren't you asking about that Tic-Tac-Toe set? Looks like my daughter will be getting $50 worth of Friends sets in April, so I can grab both of these.

  23. A good logistics company is also subject to customs checks so your point is moot. VAT You pay VAT on goods sent from non-European Union (EU) countries and EUspecial territories (eg the Canary Islands) if they’re: gifts worth more than £39 other goods worth more than £15 alcohol, tobacco products and fragrances (eg perfume, eau de toilette and cologne) of any value I stand by my original comment. Note how "personal use" doesn't come into the equation.

  24. Yeah I've had the shipping issue too, tried getting a 26.99 softball glove for my daughter and wouldn't ship free. Went to the store and bought same glove got $16 in points back for buying "aging inventory". I love their business model, it's a shame it will have to end.

  26. I personally like this years vignettes compared to last years creepy things sets. The Valentines set was definitely a nice set, and I managed to score that one for 4.95 at a Lego store a couple weeks back. Either way, great little pieces to add to the modular/city theme. The valentines set was loaded with some nice rare pieces, and this one isn't bad either.

  28. Let's be honest.....it was a pretty bad Lot considering: I don't think they'll ever put a Modular in (as cool as the Construction Site was) nor a CREATOR type building (Merchants House/Observatory/ I don't think you'll ever see one of their licensed products as an IDEAS product (Land Speeder) Adams Family House would be too close to Scooby Doo/Haunted Mansion. They seem to want to do cars on their own (Lamborghini) That leaves Plum Creek (I'm not sure many people know about Little House on the Praire anymore), The Hadron Collider (Interesting but boring...and it seems like there's been a Hadron Collider on that Ideas page for 5+ years), Spaceballs (obscure movie) and Lovelace and Babbage (the idea of IDEAS is to sell sets...something I don't think LOVELACE & BABBAGE would do). That leaves Women of NASA and VOLTRON.....and while I'm sure 99.9995% of LEGO fans would have loved to see the VOLTRON set.....maybe with the new VOLTRON series...the licensing rights were hard to get.

  29. This still ranks as my favorite Star Wars build. Probably only the Millennium Falcon can top it. I don't even think the new Snowspeeder will.

  30. Built this the last few days, was b-day gift from wife. Got from ebay, damaged box for 250. I must say this was a very fun and interesting build. As an AFOL drawn from the dark ages a few years ago this makes a nice addition to my small but growing collection. that is all xxgatorzxx

  37. Womens nasa set maybe "lame" when compared to the voltron set, but thats because this board is 95% men aged 30 years+ This is a great opportunity for Lego to encourage more younger females into lego and STEM / engineering fields etc. Not every set has to be about investment or cater to the small AFOL market.

  38. Since this isn't yet retired, I'd hold off on declaring anything a dud. Especially since we don't know what will be featured in TLJ but not be available. If it's available 2+ years after retirement for $20 at Kmart.com, you can officially give it the Mechdragon #2 designation

  39. If that "buying logic" would apply we would all be out of business.... Best example that it doesn't apply are the various friends riding camps, stables etc. You grossly underestimate the power of little girls...and the willingness of their dad's to part with large sums of money to make their princesses share their hobby...

  40. been looking for the UCS B-Wing 10227 for a reasonable price for literally more than a year. picked one up for $230 + $20 shipping on eBay the other day. pretty happy with the price considering prices are right around the $300 mark, which I didn't really want to spend...

  41. Off LetGo. I didn't know till the end it was a high school girl (maybe 15 or so) selling her lego. Was a bit shocked when I met them but good to see a girl liking lego/marvel. Anyway she posted ALL the minifigures for 10 dollars. Yes I know..no brainer. Deadpool alone is like 40 dollars. I asked if they had anything else and they mentioned they had 10 other sets for marvel. They wanted 50 for everything but I gave her 70. Looks Like i got some extra mini figs that don't go to any of the sets but everything seems to be mostly completed. Magneto is missing and a piece from the 6866. Some of these sets I still have sealed so once I confirm they are complete I'll just add these to my personal collection and sell the NISB ones I have. Think I made out well. I didn't want to give her only 50 so even at 70 I'm happy!

  44. I would start with contacting the seller, sending these pictures, and telling him that this clearly does not meet "Brand new box, perfect condition". Ask him to send you a new one, in a proper shipping box, and a return label so you can send this one back to him. Should he not respond, not respond properly, or otherwise not meet your needs, then file a claim with EBay. I would not start by proposing a solution myself, this is clearly the seller's problem. And $10 would not be enough for me as compensation. Don't mention you are a reseller, just say you bought it as a gift.
