Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general consensus is that people joining now are going to have a hard time turning this into something truly profitable. Many here are getting more close-lipped on their strategies, as there is now a lot of competition. Plus, the general state of the LEGO market is post-euphoric, with too many sets out, too many people buying for reselling/investment, a reduction in buyers and big discounts around that were unheard of even 1 year ago. Combine that with an influx of new forum members over the last 1-2 years, with many coming with the expectation that they'll be handed their fortune on a golden platter, and you can understand why there is a lot of sarcasm around. This has nothing to do with you as a person. There will always be some headshaking when people hear about you plonking down 2k GBP in less than 8 weeks, but you own your own decisions. Read into the comments what you want, but see through the sarcasm and understand that some people use it to express concern about your strategy. Nobody here would chase you away - but many (myself included) will post about the victories and the extremes, not about the daily grind of investing/reselling LEGO. You might want to consider such a posting strategy yourself as well. There is a ton of info around on this forum, and lots of comradery and compassion. Take your time to get familiar with what is appreciated (deals! success stories! fruitcakes! delivery failures! set news!) and you will find that this forum will become a second home. And yes, everyone posts something sometimes that gets a negative response from others (epic deals in Target, anyone?). Just read it as it is intended: an opinion on what you posted, and use it to shape what you post and how you post it in the future. We all started with 0 posts and 0 reputation, and we have all posted stuff that others didn't like. You'll be fine18 points

Very impressive and amazing looking model. The BMW M4 DTM 1:10 racecar designed by brunojj1. I had collected and organized the pieces to build this model quite awhile ago but I wasn't sure about how to power it and control it. It uses 4XL motors, a servo motor and three sets of lights. The original design requires two V2 IR receivers and one regular receiver and three AAA or Lipo battery boxes. I was waiting because I was debating building this with the Buwizz which I ordered but it was delayed for a couple months. In the end, after getting a few more V2 receivers, I decided to build as per original design instead of waiting for Buwizz or using Sbricks. It is just too fast to try and control with a phone / tablet. Superb looking model. Sorry for poor pics with my phone.13 points

My husband bought all of these except for the fire brigade, which I already had, this past weekend when he went to visit family out of town. I am super excited as I did not have the town hall or green grocer, and I wanted an extra grand emporium to make a double wide one. They were in excellent condition with boxes and instructions for $1,100. I have been waiting on town hall and GG for over a year. now I need a bigger table as I have many more that don't fit.12 points

AZ CLAIMS Main goal is to defend and maintain successful business so: · Always be professional and maintain your composure. If you want to vent, punch a wall, use the forum or PM me · Only state facts. Amazon cares little to rants, accusations , and claims that can’t be proven · Use bullet points in your reply to AZ claim · Try to quote Amazon’s polices when applicable · Never refund an AZ without trying to defend it since the damage has been done already · Reaching out to a customer is up to your discretion, but don’t wait too long to reply to AZ claim other with Amazon will rule in the buyer’s favor · Make different templates for different scenarios , that way your message is always professional and emotion free · Read the seller forums every now and them · Familiarize yourself with Amazon’s rules and polices before selling Item Not Received ( INR ) : · Tracking doesn’t show item delivered : o Claim will be granted to buyer o Open claim with courier for lost shipment · Tracking shows item delivered : o Signature : Claim will go to seller even if buyer’s name and signature don’t match o No signature : § If shipping is bought from Amazon , from a policy stand point seller wouldn’t lose but Amazon has been very inconsistent ( make sure to quote policy in reply ) § If shipping is not purchased from Amazon, most likely seller will lose claim however : o Provide all relevant data o Contact Post Office / UPS/FEDEX : gather as much info as possible o Make sure to reply to claim in a timely manner. o If buyer is using a Freight Forwarding (FF) service, seller’s obligation ends once item is delivered to FF ( not to buyer ) Claim is fake/ unauthentic: · Seller provides buyer with prepaid label via Amazon’s messaging system and keep conversation professional and to a minimum · Seller professionally responds to AZ claim with facts without any emotional or angry references, hints, or accusation · Seller reports buyer by opening a case ( separate from AZ ) · Seller only refunds upon receipt of item · If Amazon refunds from its own pocket, seller’s Order Defect Rate (ODR) will take a hit · Seller to expect seller performance to ask for proof of authenticity. o Invoices from authorized distributors or manufacturers are the only accepted documents for the most part. for Lego this is close to impossible right now. o I recommend responding with whatever receipts you have rather than ignore it ( preferably online receipts ) o Listing/account might get shut down so always have a plan B outside Amazon o Invoices and receipts are not the same thing Item is defective: · Provide prepaid return label and follow processes outlined above · Seller pays shipping obviously · You can’t charge a restocking fee for defective item claim Negative/neutral feedback: · While not an AZ claim, always open a case and try to get it removed. It cost you nothing to give it a shot. · If feedback removal is denied, respond in a clam and professional manner to the negative. Remember by leaving a reply you are targeting potential new buyers and not the feedback itself. The following types of claims impact your ODR:Claims that are pendingClaims for which you provided a refund after the claim was filedClaims that were withdrawn after the claim was granted or after you provided the claim refundClaims that were granted, including those that were funded by Amazon, with the exception of non-received claims on orders that were shipped with Marketplace Shipping Service (MSS)The following types of claims don't impact ODR:Claims that were deniedClaims that were withdrawn before the claim decision was made or before you provided a refundClaims on orders that were shipped with MSS (US only) but not received p.s: those are just my notes, experiences and observations. I went to Tru Saturday to buy some Star Wars sets....nothing exciting.... But the manager stopped me on the way out and said he had a box for me that he had been saving. Inside was some assorted Friends polybags , three erector sets, about 12 assorted baggies with left over build parts and 162 Ninjago polybags . I knew that set wasn't very popular but wow....10 points

You know we have a 10% commission structure here. Plus another 25% for the "Putting the fear of God if you buy from eBay into potential buyers". So that is 35% total owed to Brickpicker. [email protected] is a good paypal address. Thanks..10 points

In general it helps others seeing deals on the forum if the price of the sets are calculated without points/personal rewards. This helps others trying to replicate the deal to know how much it should cost them. Using points/rewards is personal to each individual and not replicatable for others. Now how each person accounts for the actual cost of the set is different and you are free to apply points/rewards as you see fit. for me if someone said "the set costs $50 then 20% off coupon then %20 off gift cards so the total was $32. then i used $12 in rewards so got it for $20." That would be clear.7 points

...and of the 55 that I ended up with I'm still staring at 44 of them. That set sucks. Nobody is buying at $40-$45, and I'm not taking a loss on them, so into the cryogenic vault they will go. Maybe 2k years from now my future kin can make a couple of bucks on them. To think, I was so enamored with that set that I actually started a thread singing it's high praises. This experience is why I would be VERY cautious on loading up on FOT in bulk. The scenario is very similar, but to each his own.7 points

My son and I finished up the UCS TIE Fighter 75095 last week. If is a lot larger than I pictured it being, and displays well. I haven't built the Slave yet, but I still think it's odd that this and the Slave are on sale at the same time at the same price point (I bought the TIE used for $85). I really want to build the TIE Interceptor version at some point, which looks pretty sweet.5 points

I know it's a hassle but you need to pre-calculate your purchases when applying multiple discounts before heading to the register. More often than not, the cashier will screw up the series of button presses up and miss one of the discounts... the most common one being TRUTH which they can't seem to get right. Before you pay, you can press "VIEW ITEMS" on the CC reader and double check that the prices are on the up and up before following through. Try to go when there isn't a huge line behind you or take the purchase up to the customer service desk. They usually place the more experienced employees there.4 points

Sounds like they did a 'price match' instead of a 'price adjustment'. Regardless of what button the cashier told/tells you they hit, that is what happened. I've had this happen and told them to do it again and make sure to hit the price adjustment button. I've even had to explain the difference and tell them why it is a price adjustment vs. price match. Then your coupon will stack.4 points

Hi Phillip. The 20% off SW sets at TRU runs until the 2/25. TRU will have different themes on sale on a semi-regular basis and SW seems to pop up every few months. You should always check Brickset or Lego.shop for msrp because TRU tends to price their sets higher than retail which negates part of the actual savings.4 points

My 4 year old and I built Darth Vader. He displays pretty cool and will look good in his bedroom. Wasn't thrilled with the build. It's all Technic. Which I knew. But it just reinforces that I'm a LEGO builder not a Technic builder.4 points

It gets worse, I'm now really tempted to buy the Nexo Knight King's Mech, get this, because I think it looks cool. Seriously, I had intended to spend the square root of feck all in the first few months of the year and instead I go crazy on the LEGO Shop at Home sale. Lucky no one else has any decent deals at the moment.3 points

Tried to get me on Friday. Someone bought 2 Grand Hotels, at above RRP. Checked and PayPal showed it was a confirmed address. Yet the Spidey sense was tingling so I had the staff hold it and not let the mail carrier pick it up. Sure enough, Friday afternoon I get the unauthorized reversal from PayPal. They didn't win this one. I credit BP for keeping up the awareness of this fraud activity. Thanks guys.2 points

Thinking positive: 1) I think you'll double your money anyway. 2) Maybe consider it a donation to keep their doors open another day. We can hate TRU now, but when they're the next Kmart, some of us will miss them (I miss my pee-smelling Kmart).2 points

I'm always amazed at how I can predict your reply, or Val-E, on any topic, without even having to read it. We get it, everything is a terrible investment. Your blanket statements always apply to everyone in every geography, no matter their buy in. Yada yada yada. Neither of you seem to get any enjoyment out of this site, I don't know why you post so much in every thread. Carry on...2 points

Yeah, I went into a physical store today, and you can use gift cards ontop of the current 20% off. While some sets have the inflated markup, the brand new ones are lego suggested RRP, so using the discount and my rewards it came down much futher. You can get some of the new ones to build for a pretty good discount, which is great for building a few on the cheap. Other sets, that they are trying to get rid of (the ones I listed above) are already discounted below RRP, and the 20% discount takes most of these to 40% off without further cards, points etc being used. So, this time of year is a good time to clean out these sets, because it's their last hurrah, and Toys R Us is usually the last one to have these in stock online. Usually after next week most of these sets get wiped out, and then they start to climb back to RRP, because most other retailers like Walmart, and Amazon are already OOS.2 points
