  5. I gotta be honest, I think the First Order Transporter should be throwing up titanic red flags to everyone. These numbers tell me that they aren't selling like, at all - And that TRU must have a HUGE stock of them. I am not saying I don't have any, but I am certainly not going to go crazy. This seems to have overhoarded and undesirable written all over it. Maybe you'll be able to make some money back on them, but I imagine the process will be slow and the returns small. This may be a 3 year hold and I don't see it getting much more than MSRP even at that stage. On a set that was not very attractive to begin with. I am similarly wary about Battle of Takonda which has basically been avail 30-35% off forever. Hell, let's be honest, pretty much all these First Order sets.

  6. Chris, I think you're coming in at a time where the LEGO reselling party is coming to an end. I'm not saying there is no more money to be made; what I'm saying is that the ship is full and the general consensus is that people joining now are going to have a hard time turning this into something truly profitable. Many here are getting more close-lipped on their strategies, as there is now a lot of competition. Plus, the general state of the LEGO market is post-euphoric, with too many sets out, too many people buying for reselling/investment, a reduction in buyers and big discounts around that were unheard of even 1 year ago. Combine that with an influx of new forum members over the last 1-2 years, with many coming with the expectation that they'll be handed their fortune on a golden platter, and you can understand why there is a lot of sarcasm around. This has nothing to do with you as a person. There will always be some headshaking when people hear about you plonking down 2k GBP in less than 8 weeks, but you own your own decisions. Read into the comments what you want, but see through the sarcasm and understand that some people use it to express concern about your strategy. Nobody here would chase you away - but many (myself included) will post about the victories and the extremes, not about the daily grind of investing/reselling LEGO. You might want to consider such a posting strategy yourself as well. There is a ton of info around on this forum, and lots of comradery and compassion. Take your time to get familiar with what is appreciated (deals! success stories! fruitcakes! delivery failures! set news!) and you will find that this forum will become a second home. And yes, everyone posts something sometimes that gets a negative response from others (epic deals in Target, anyone?). Just read it as it is intended: an opinion on what you posted, and use it to shape what you post and how you post it in the future. We all started with 0 posts and 0 reputation, and we have all posted stuff that others didn't like. You'll be fine

  8. I have an extra for you but you would need your TRU to accept a pic. There are free programs where you can enter in the code and make a coupon or rumor has it @Bold-Arrow does it if you PayPal him $5 F&F. If anyone else wants one and a pic works for you just like this post first 10 contributing BPers and I will send them out on Monday. Please don't PM me I will PM you the pic.

  11. Is it just me, or is there not much love around for newbies/low-rankers on Brick Picker? 50 odd posts, and most are met with scorn, memes, dismissal or attitude. Surely we all have to start somewhere. I don't know any secret handshakes!

  13. I hate myself, but I'm so tempted to buy a few more of these at LEGO Shop at Home, 50% off, 2 Batman polybags worth €20 cash and a few quid in VIP points. Just shows just how stupid some of the RRP's are at the moment. Not sure which of the Star Wars sets RRP is the worst, this, Clone Turbo Tank, Phantom, Resistance X-Wing, At-St, Tie Striker, Minor Skirmish on Hoth, Battle on Scarriff, A-Wing, Resistance Troop Transport, Rebel Combat Frigate, Battle on Takodana, Encounter on Jakku, Imperial Assault Hovertank. Wait a second, just realised what I'm doing wrong there, lets list the sets which aren't stupidly priced. The Y-Wing. That is all.

  14. The subs were sold in 4 minutes and 26 seconds. All of them. I know the guy who bought all of them. (He's super Handsome and smart) Everyone is messing around because out of all TFA sets this one is one of the most lackluster. Even at 50% a lot of people don't have faith this set will go much past RRP. Once CP is in an episode 8 or 9 set this set will be very hard to move. If she is not remade then and only then will the set do "well". Ultimately buy in is key so if you are getting them 60% off that's not bad. People were expecting 12 dollar sandcrawelers and 50 cent dimensions (hence all the sarcasm/fun poking)

  16. Don't mind me, I just have a thing for set numbers, I struggle to remember my pin number, never mind all the set numbers. And don't diss the memes or @exciter1 will be very upset.

  17. I agree that there are few that most always lack patience in regards to noob questions. At the same time though it can be annoying when people never take time to read a couple of posts (for the answer) and instead jump in with silly questions. I have to point out that I'm pretty new myself. I'm often baffled by some abbreviations and sometimes ask for help but I do try to find answers myself (30 secs on google, read back a few pages or refer to other threads). We all make mistakes and we all have moments when we lack patience. Even in the worst moments (inbox full of memes I'm thankful for the generous money saving tips and conversation found here). My advice for the noobs or... ask yourself if you can find the answer yourself in 30 secs of less before asking. Oh and there are times when a personal message might yield better results. Thanks everyone and I don't mean to offend anyone.

  20. Those are big numbers. But limited to your stores. I wouldn't be surprised if they were errors. I've never seen 45 of a single boxed set in any store. Maybe not even 45 large boxes of an entire theme. But then, that's only in south Florida. My target tracker looks like PhilB's. I found 6 sets at 30% off in three stores with in 50 miles of me. There are about 15 stores within 50 miles. Most are sold out. If your numbers are true, then it is an "epic" fail of your local targets for not being able to sell any of those sets.

  25. My packages finally arrived yesterday. @thombockerman really upped the ante. Who do you think is more excited, my daughter or me? These are the 2 modulars we need to complete our collection. I will get a photo of them all when I can, we are under a bit of construction now. Thanks again. My daughter wanted to start right away. We finished the first 2 bags of the bank before bedtime.

  31. Those 3 for 2 sales Tesco had are going to be the ruin of us. While we got great deals out of them, we'll all be expecting a repeat and we'll spend the year turning up our noses at deals we'd previously have jumped on. What happens then if Tesco don't repeat them.

  36. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this is the "what I bought" Lego thread and a good teaching moment Would've been wiser to wait until you actually bought one of those 45's before posting about it. That old line, 'if there's no receipt, it didn't happen'. And your plan to wait another week or two for it to Go down in price won't happen now because every BPer with in 50 miles is going to zoom in and clear them out at $45 before you come anywhere near 70% off clearance. You live and learn. Bravo.

  37. Going to post this here as this is a clear Fruitcake - but it has nothing to do with EBay. Could have posted it in the "Why so serious?" thread too ..... http://bricks.stackexchange.com/questions/8634/question-about-buying-selling-ucs-sets

  39. I think everyone is missing the point. This is a movie. The ship looks like that. Lego made it to look like that. Take off the "I want a complete ship goggles" THEN look at it. Maybe they will release other ship based sets but this is based on a movie not a legit pirates theme..... I think they did well It's like commenting on the UCS snowspeeder thread and saying "uhhh pass I wanted the UCS At-At"
