I am pleased to announce my most complicated and rewarding build, the Lykan Hypersport. The lego car blog: https://thelegocarblog.com/2017/02/16/you-cant-put-a-price-on-exclusivity/ Flickr album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskUnVDew It all started with framework. I had to design it so it wouldn't have any motors in the back or the front of the wheels. Most of my previous builds have been too large in those areas, so I tried create more room with this build. This is a really early version of the framework.. a lot has been changed for the final version Some of my main goals for this build were to create as many realistic functions possible to the real car while maintaining a cosmetically appealing bodywork. Top secret 3 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr The curves and features on this car are par to none in regards to bodywork difficulty and functions. It all began with the framework and a 4 speed manual transmission. Lykan Hypersport - 3.4 million $ Supercar by lachlan cameron, on Flickr The rear suspension, (horizontal coil over) was beyond me as to how I could implement it with Lego. Lykan Hypersport- mixed album by lachlan cameron, on Flickr I discussed my concerns with Dugald and 5 minutes later he sends me a photo (below) of a roughed out version of the proper suspension. Lykan Hypersport- mixed album by lachlan cameron, on Flickr We ended up using that same suspension for the build. The 4 speed transmission and rear suspension was build with a lot of help from him. I bumped a ton of ideas his way in regards to proper proportion and it really helped speed up this build. Lykan Hypersport- Red Supercar by lachlan cameron, on Flickr Once the ground work was laid out, it was time for the functions. I absolutely had to motorize the Lykan doors, to the same extent of the real car. Top secret 4 by lachlan cameron, on Flickr This beast has working lights, servo for steering, 2xl motors for drive, 1 m-motor for doors, 1 m-motor for rear wing, working twin turbo Flat 6 with fan. The front hood has an original latch system I designed to open the same amount as the real car. The rear engine cover was designed to have similar appearance to the real car and I found the grey flags to have the right shape and size. I think everyone is missing the point. This is a movie. The ship looks like that. Lego made it to look like that. Take off the "I want a complete ship goggles" THEN look at it. Maybe they will release other ship based sets but this is based on a movie not a legit pirates theme..... I think they did well It's like commenting on the UCS snowspeeder thread and saying "uhhh pass I wanted the UCS At-At"7 points

My packages finally arrived yesterday. @thombockerman really upped the ante. Who do you think is more excited, my daughter or me? These are the 2 modulars we need to complete our collection. I will get a photo of them all when I can, we are under a bit of construction now. Thanks again. My daughter wanted to start right away. We finished the first 2 bags of the bank before bedtime.6 points

I love it. It's completely original. Many people here criticize Lego for rehashing sets. This is certainly no rehash. We should support this set to encourage Lego to take more chances in the future. It would have been easy to make a standard ship set but they didn't. They should be applauded for that.6 points

This set eventually making it to 50% off shouldn't be an issue, especially since it doesn't STRIKE me as being anything special...HEY-OH!!5 points

I think a lot of people (myself included) were hoping for a chance to pick up a great ship comparable to Queen Anne's Revenge or Imperial Flagship at a decent price. The Silent Mary is something completely different. I'm disappointed, but honestly it's 1000 times better than just re-releasing one of the old ships.3 points

Some technical details about size. (26 inch long and 18inch tall) https://sg.style.yahoo.com/new-pirates-of-the-caribbean-dead-men-tell-no-tales-ghost-ship-revealed-in-lego-form-exclusive-120049373.html Well, that's gonna be a massive but fairly fragile construction, defo for display only seeing this flimsy transparent legs on which are standing on. after vetting I will most likely pull the trigger just because of those fabulous minifigs!3 points

Other than Minecraft I think this might be the fastest Ideas to 10k. It was posted Jan. 24 and hit 10,000 yesterday. Dungeon Master I like the idea but i think the rooms are a bit cluttered for actual "play." I can also see this being rejected because of being to close to Heroica or to "Adult". On the other hand if they can get the license to make it officially a D&D set (not likely) it could do very well.2 points

Go deep and part him out. Printed tiles, arms, and torso are big winners on Bricklink.2 points

I have a good idea...let's just dismiss this thing based on a handful of pictures and NOT an IDEA about the quality of the movie. If Captain Salazer and SILENT MARY are iconic and this new movie restores POTC as a viable action/adventure franchise.....it will do well. If the movie does poorly or the Salazar and the SILENT MARY unremarkable.....it will still be desired by completists of the line will want it as it is a ship. Pirate fans MIGHT want it because at the least it (maybe modded out a little) makes a kick ass sinking ship in a MOC. The main hesitation, (IMO) as far as investing in it goes is that there seems to be several more iconic line/sets in the past couple of years that haven't done particularly well.2 points

I did not find it rude! Thanks for your nice answer [emoji123] I think I will handle it like you. If the price is right I will keep my favourite scenes and sell the rest to brake even. If price isn't right I will skip [emoji106]2 points

Respect to these guys who have bothered to take and upload comprehensive galleries from the Toyfair. Puts to shame the lame coverage by some of the so-called Lego specialist and fan sites. http://news.toyark.com/2017/02/18/toy-fair-2017-lego-star-wars-display-2410582 points

10212- it's missing a few pieces which the seller either lost or it got lost in the poor packaging but I was able to finish it with spare parts until replacements come in. The realization that parts were missing kept this from being as fun as it should have been but it still looks pretty great and massive. This was a warm up for my eventual build of the 10221 SSD2 points

I think you should try to get at least 20% off MSRP for a sealed box. So about 190€/$ for the Batman minifigures. The lowest is about 220€ right now, but it'll go down once initial demand starts waning. That's great! No spares then as there's 20 different figures.1 point
